I'm not sure what is going on, but some time ago my Spotlight icon in the menubar disappeared. Now for some reason the Eject icon is on the far right where Spotlight should be. Also the keyboard shortcut is not working. To do a search I have to now go to the finder and hit Command-F. I really miss not having Spotlight
View 2 RepliesSometimes when I restart my machine running 10.5.8 my desktop background appears but my dock, top menu and desktop icons do not appear. If I force a shutdown and restart, everything comes up normally. This doesn't happen every time I restart, but it has started only recently. I've repaired permissions already.

However if I look for it under the finder menu bar, the arrow beside service says 'building'. But I've been waiting for hours and it doesn't look like anything's happening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the last few days I've noticed a problem with missing icons. It seems to mainly effect icons in the Trash but I have one or two missing icons for videos and apps within the Finder and on the Desktop. The icon is completely gone - I have to click on the filename to select it. Quicklook works OK (for video).
I can't think of anything I've installed that would have done it except Onyx, but I haven't run that in weeks. I did repair permissions a few days ago but I doubt that could break this. It persists after a reboot. I can't get it to happen on command, it just randomly occurs. Creating a New Folder always works OK.
My safari menu bar is missing. The menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc. I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away when borrowing my computer.

Today I restore from a Backup, and the icons despair from the right side of the menu bar, I go to system and I check the network to appear in the menu bar but the apply tab is not hightligted I try with other with the same result

For apple applications the command and drag (and move works) is good, but the others don't respond (installed a canon printer/scanner). So, how do I delete (which is what I want now) or move them around (for future) the icons?
View 9 Replies View Relatedfar the first thing that I have noticed that is buggy is that all my menu bar items are missing. Spotlight appears for two seconds then disappears. I have tried enabling everything in system preferences but when I go into some of the preferences it freezes up. I have also removed all third party apps from the menu bar. I am currently doing a Disk Permission check and repair if needed but this has me thinking this is not going to be a smooth transition like it was from Tiger to Leopard.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was in bootcamp using windows xp when I got the bluescreen of death and when my MacBook Pro booted up and back into OS X I found my menu bar no longer contained anything but the bootcamp and spotlight icons. Airport, date and time etc. are all turned on in system prefs but don't appear: You can also see the Skith icon present here as that's what I'm using to take the photo.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy menu bar icons have disappeared after installing Snow Leopard. How to get them back. WiFi, Spaces, Volume, Battery and Spotlight blinks on and off. Black Macbook running Leopard with the standard upgrade to Snow Leopard was done. Have an iMac and seems to have everything working on it and did the same upgrade. Both are having small glitches in Safari, but can deal with. It's the no battery and WiFi that's really bugging me. Turning iStat Menus off solves the problem with missing Bar Menu icons.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLately the menu bar will randomly throw in a huge gap between icons. Initially I thought it was a specific app, but now it's happening with all sorts of random icons there...definitely not the same icon each time.
The icons you see on the left are the ones I launched after the gap appeared.
Restarting my machine seems to be the only solution to removing the gap.

I've also tried trashing the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist pref but that didn't do the trick.
There is no "copies & pages" and "quartz filter" on my print menu. I've have tried my darndest to print in black and white to no avail. I also can only print one page at a time. The options are just not there. Why? And how do I correct this?

So I thought to myself I'll try it out. So I followed the tutorial to where the last step I did was to restart the computer. Well it is missing now however there is still a process being shown in the Activity Monitor, FDEStatusMenu, that is for that.
Is there anyway I could go into Terminal and restart that show it shows the icon? (There are no menu options to show it)
I rebooted my Macbook Air (Mac OS X Lion) and the menubar doesn't show up. The top of the desktop is blank. No date/time. No wifi icon. Nothing. When I launch an application then the menubar shows up. When I close the application no menubar. Also, when I option+right-click on the Finder icon in the Dock there is no option to relaunch Finder. When I open a folder the menubar for Finder doesn't show up. What should I do?

yesterday I wasn't able to click on my desktop icon in finder so I thought its just something silly. I turned off the computer and went to work. When I came back, I turned it back on, to realize that all icons are gone except my HDD, TM HDD and Windows HDD. Everything else is gone.
I entered the time machine and all back ups are gone too except today's and yesterday's. On yesterday's back up I do have the desktop folders and icon untouched but not on todays.
I tried permission, PRM reset, Onyx maintenance and cleaning but nothing is working. When I put a file name in the finder to find it it doesn't find it.
I recently installed Transmission (a bit torrent client) to see how good it is. Previous to this I have always used Limewire. I didn't like Transmission so I deleted it, but now all my .torrent files no longer have the torrent/limewire image on them. Now they are just plain white files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter updating my OS X which brought Safari up to 5.1.7 the saved links I had in my dock are blank. Even though i can click in that area and the pages will load. I can't figure out how to fix this. Also, when I drag a link from the address bar to the desktop the icon that appears is nothing more than a blank white page.

When saving a file from Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended, file icons will not be saved with any format (forget about the alpha channel docs) - png, tif, jpg, psd, etc. I booted from my Lion Installer flash drive, repaired permissions and disk and some icon previews reappeared. Some didn't. No generic icon or anything. My Photoshop prefs are set to save a preview on the icons, as are with the 3 other Mac users who have reported the same problem.
