How can I change the quality of screen sharing in Snow Leopard? I've tried adjusting defaults write com.apple.ScreenSharing controlObserveQuality but I'm having no luck. It always streams at full quality which leads to painfully slow screen refreshes.
View 2 RepliesI currently use the Logitech Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Speaker System in my home office, which by all accounts is a pretty high-end system (maybe not for a true audiophile, but for an average joe like me they're great). I am trying to figure out what the best way would be to share a single input on this speaker system between two computers (a Mac Pro and an iMac).
I am currently using a basic headphone splitter with two standard 3.5mm male-to-male stereo cables to perform the task, and for the most part it works just fine with one minor issue that is likely to prevent me from keeping things setup like this. There is a subtle, yet clearly audible humming noise coming out of the speakers.
I owned the 15" mbp and I know its not as good in quality as the 15" in the screen department but what are the two screens that the new unibody macbooks ship with?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI've had my Macbook Air for 10 days now and I find its an incredible machine. However there is one thing that really bothers me: the quality of the screen. First, like many Macbooks (LED or not), it is unevenly backlit. It starts bright from the top, then darkens, and when you get close to the hinge it gets really bright again (is this the bleeding effect that people talk about?) Also I find the vertical viewing angle appaling. You really have to get your eyes aligned in a certain precise way in order to have a correct display of colors. As soon as you move your head up and down slightly you get major shifts i nuances and tint. This might just be the deal breaker for me. I have the 9C73 display, which is supposed to be quite good too. Yeah its bright, but who cares about bright when a yellow page looks green in the middle and white on top?

I don't own one yet (its on its way =]), but I have seen them in various shops and the quality seems amazing! Far better than the white MacBooks! View 24 Replies View RelatedStarted archiving all my old photos and creating dvds. started off using iphoto which is great for compiling a quick slideshow to a couple of music tracks. i then imported these to idvd and created my first dvd project which i was pretty pleased with for a first attempt. The only thing i found annoying was that i could not link all the slideshows together in idvd so that they played one after another, instead you had to come back to the menu and start the next one...so i thought i would import these slideshow movies into imovie and create a complete movie with chapters, titles etc. but when i did this i noticed that the quality of the slideshow in imovie was very noticeably worse.
being new to mac i wasnt sure what was up so i thought about importing the photos directly into imovie and working with them there. but once again the quality was really poor compared to the iphoto and idvd slideshows. after this i though maybe its just a preview problem and all will be well when i burn them to dvd and watch them on tv...so i burnt a dvd with one slideshow created in iphoto and imported into idvd and also put on a movie of the same slide show that id imported into imovie and back.
anyway long story short quality still better in slide show created in iphoto.
is there any way to export the movie as high as my project quality everytime i export the quality goes down.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIn FCPX 10.1.3 I was able to set in Preferences the Playback Quality to High Quality. I just purchased FCPx 10.1.4. It has NO such High Quality Option for Playback Quality.
Now all my still clips are blurred badly. Is there an option to set a High Quality Playback Option. Or can I download 10.1.3, the level where that worked ?

When I export my sequence into a Quicktime movie the quality is much worse than it appears in the editor. More specifically, it looks washed out.

View 24 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I have 2 MBAs at home and the displays are different. My first MBA had some build issues. So I called apple and they just sent me a second MBA. The second MBA's display lighting is much brighter especially at the edge of the screen. So the colours are worse and the black is not black any more. So I'm not sure what to do: I want the screen of my first MBA and the build quality of the second one
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have owned a new white macbook for a month or so now and I am a little concerned about the quality of the screen. Basically the viewing angles are very bad. The slightest movement off center, the image completely changes, especially the blacks. Also on a pure black background, the bottom left/right corners are nowhere near black and are sort of shining greyish and it takes a bit of adjustment to get an even black from top to bottom, if at all. I was just wondering if this just a normal circumstance with theses lower-end white macbooks or should there be a better quality screen experience?

is there any difference between the 2.26 & 2.53's screen?
and some with the same 2.26Ghz model yet having different model of screen of different screen quality.
Yet mine have a bad color saturation as well as a very low brightness.
Just got the 2.53 model coming from the unibody 2.4 MBP. This new screen is not very good IMHO. I have panel LP154WP4-TLA1. The colors look fake and I swear the text is blurry. I am having major eyestrain when reading in the dark. That never happened with my old MBP.
In light of the reported screen problems affecting the previous 2009 revision, I thought it would be useful to establish a separate thread where current-gen owners can report on the quality of their screen. I was in best-buy around the time dual core was still around, and noticed the 27 inches were significantly more vibrant. Is this the same case with the new iMacs? Like the login screen, but without a list of usernames or anything. There it sits. Here is what I see in the console of the mac mini when I try and use a virtual display from the other machine:

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I have got the cables and connectors that I need to connect my mbp to my tv via the tv's hdmi port. My question is what settings should the mbp screen resolution be set to in order to get the best picture quality / size when playing itunes tv shows? Also what setting should the tv be on as you have the option of widescreen. 4:3, smart etc.

Does anyone know of a way to enter full screen in Mac OS X's native screen sharing application? I recently purchased a new MBP and wanted to screen share to my old MB with all my "junk" on it. It would be handy to actually enter full screen as opposed to being restricted to a window sized screen.

i have been having issues with mac users who have the new mac book pro with the retina display, apparently the native screen size is too large for the web ex and logmein services to display. they are currently aware of the situation but there is no resolution date, is there any way to lower the resolution. we tried to have some peopel lower the settings but there is no resolution setting where the user can lower it to a much smaller size like 1024 x 768. the web ex app is usally ran through java.

It works fine when I enable the "Anyone may request permission to control screen" but I would like to use only the "password" option but it doesn't work. When I just set a VNC password and then try to connect via the "Screen Sharing" app, it keeps saying that the password is not correct. Which "login" am I supposed to use? When I use another client such as UltraVNC, it works. So how can I enter a password onl with the Screen Sharing app?
