OS X :: No Sound In Window 7 Running Under BootCamp?

Apr 21, 2010

I recently used Boot Camp to create and install a Windows 7 partition on my MacPro. Windows runs fine except that I'm not getting any sound. This must be some kind of driver issue but I don't know where to turn.

I know this must be addressed here somewhere but I did a search and couldn't find a thread on it so I apologize in advance if this is a common question.

IMac :: Different Speaker Sound While Running Windows / BootCamp

Jul 26, 2010

I just noticed that the sound of my 21.5" iMac speakers kinda changes notably when I'm using Windows (BootCamp). Compared to the sound while using Snow Leopard, it sound very thin, bass-less and... just strange. More like MacBook speakers, or just small speakers. Another thing is that the headphone input doesn't work on Windows. Could these issues be related to audio drivers? I don't know much about that sort of stuff.

Mac :: Upgrade Window 7 From XP Via Bootcamp?

Nov 3, 2009

it looks like windows 7 is 100X better than vista. My friends, who are running it via bootcamp, also say it is amazing.Right now, I am on XP SP3, which I strictly use for gaming. Everything else I do on OSX. I don't like being on an obselete OS very much, but the ONLY thing I use XP for is gaming, and haven't had any issues. Therefore, I have been under the impression that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" what do you guys think? Is windows 7 a must-get over xp, or should I stick with obselete, but very stable XP?

I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.4. There is a small partition that was originally set up to run windows but I never completed the windows setup. When I start the machine, it only recognizes that smaller windows partition. If I startup up holding down option, only that partition shows up. If I boot from the install DVD and run disk utility, the main partition name is gray and I can't repair it.

OS X :: No Sound In Mac Or Bootcamp?

Sep 30, 2009

I've got the red light syndrome and while I once was able to fix it by jamming things in the headphone jack, that won't work anymore. I thought if I installed windows on this computer it would work or I would be able to override it somehow.

Here is the weird thing. When I plug a headphone jack while running windows, the speakers play sound for a second, then it goes to the headphones. There has got to be a way to override this crap.

also, have no applecare and don't wish to solve this problem with money thanks

Windows On Mac :: Install Win7 Via Bootcamp - Window Partition Shows Empty

Dec 29, 2009

I just upgraded my hdd a couple of mins ago from the 120 gig to a seagate 500gig , but before doing that i used "carbon copy cloner" to clone my old drive, as well as the 8gig partition i had there where i used to keep my copy of snow leopard (easier that carrying the disk around).CCC cloned both partitions perfectly.I named them Mac and Mac-backupthen I created another partition using disk utility and named it Win - this is where i want to install win7 via bootcamp. The "Win" partition is totally empty.

Windows On Mac :: Low Sound Volume Under Bootcamp?

Aug 26, 2009

So I've been following the MBP forum for their Audio Volume issues because we seem to have the same problem. Check out their issues here: [URL]

There is also an apple discussion here. [URL]

I have a Late 2008 MB running both Leopard and Boot Camp with Windows XP pro SP3. Under boot camp it uses the RealTek driver for the sound card. It is putting out very low volume. Many people have posted similar problems with Vista and windows 7.

Here's the test I did to confirm. I made a 1kHz test tone audio file and played it out of OS X. I connected the output of my headphone jack to a volt meter and measured a little over 1V or 1000mV. I switched to Windows and played the same file. This time I measured 280mV. This proves that the RealTek driver is not sufficient and does not measure up the full potential of the Macbook.

I've called apple on the issue and they say that it is not their problem and they do not support it. Even though they advertise that Windows is fully functional under boot camp. The solution for the MBP was that someone modified the INF driver file. Unfortunately, Apple uses a different chip in the MB and this solution will not work. I tried it.

MacBook Pro :: Running Both Parallels And BootCamp?

Jul 11, 2009

Do I have to install a Windows 7/RC build on Bootcamp before I can use it with Parallels? Or if I already have it on bootcamp, I have to install it all over again with Parallels? And I was thinking of only having RC as my secondary OS until my Windows 7 disc comes. When that happens, do I just delete all my RC stuff from bootcamp to make room for Windows 7? I'd also lose all my documents and whatnot right since I can't upgrade to Windows 7 from an RC.

Windows On Mac :: BootCamp 2.1 And Perfectly Running Win7

Oct 24, 2009

After loads of headwork I may have a perfect running Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro. I was running XP but decided for a change, installed 7 but had the issues with sound, keyboard, bluetooth etc etc tried a few things but no joy. So went to Vista instead, things worked fine but didn't partition enough space so another reinstall was needed, then came the brainwave if everything is running smoothly in Vista surely if I upgrade to 7 it should still work, ok I was a little wrong 90% of it did.

I even had sound, bluetooth issue was resolved just needed to uncheck 'allow computer to control sleep thing' just needed to sort out the keyboard backlight, eject and fn keys. So in my wisdom I reinstalled bootcamp 2.1 update, ignore the messages that come up it will install...reboot and voila all Working! I will be rigorously testing this over the next week so will post back any issues, hopefully there wont be any. By the way I am using the x86 version as my MBP doesn't support 64bit. So in short:
Partition > Vista (make sure fully updated) > Upgrade to Windows 7 > reinstall Boot Camp >

MacBook Pro :: Used BootCamp And Now System Running Slow

Nov 1, 2009

I figured I found the perfect place to talk about my mac book pro. I have a mac Book Pro 15 inch 2 years old. I decided to use boot camp for the first time the other day and run windows vista. I noticed that though it ran perfect on here I felt that something wasn't right with the dual boot OS. I decided to erase and bring my harddrive back to normal. After I did that I feel like my Mac runs slow. I was thinking if it doesn't get better I might have to do a clean install.
