MacBook Pro :: Can Not Display External Monitor Under Bootcamp Windows XP?
May 11, 2010I have got my new uMBP i7. It is gorgeous, super happy with it . Because I need to run several programs under Windows XP, I have installed Windows XP under Bootcamp. I used Winclone to migrate bootcamp partition from my old MBP to the i7.My problem is that when I linked my external monitor (20 inch ViewSonic) to uMBP using the Minidisplay-to-DIV adaptor from Apple, there is no display on my external monitor. I can set the external monitor as extension of main monitor under "Setting", but after the windows Ding/Done sound, there is nothing on my external monitor. Does anyone have experiences about fixing this problem?

Feb 22, 2012I was just upgraded from a 13" mbp on 10.6 to a 15" mbp on 10.7.3 and I'mn having a lot of issues with the UI changes. The biggest bother at the moment deals with window positions when I undock my laptop to take it to a meeting. I unplug all the cables, head to a meeting, and when I get back and plug everything in, my external monitor shows a blank desktop. I need to drag everything back into place for a two display setup.
If I move the menu bar to the external display everything will shoot over to the external display when docked, leaving the mbp screen empty. This is a real pain and I can't figure out what purpose it serves.
Is there a setting I could change to correct this behavior?

Jan 30, 2009I can not get my external monitor to hook up with my new MacBook Pro. I know how to get the windows desktop over onto the external monitor, but windows just recognizes the monitor for a moment, and then nothing. This cycles until I turn off the external monitor. I have the new MacBook Pro, with MiniDisplay port, and the monitor is hooked up with a DVI, and it is a 22" Acer.

Jun 11, 2012Battery life in bootcamp was pretty bad on the last version because it was always using the discrete graphics card, I believe it never used the integrated graphics card.
I want to know if the new version will support what is know as nvidia Optimus, where you can switch back and forth between the integrated and dedicated graphics card while in windows (I.e. under bootcamp).

Oct 16, 2008I picked up a new MacBook yesterday and I noticed a weird issue when coming out of "monitor sleep" mode, not regular sleep mode.
When I move the mouse, the external monitor shows what you see in the picture, kinda like a TV with no signal. The MacBook screen works fine so what I just do is unplug and re-plug in the DVI plug and everything is good again.
My 24 inch Dell monitor worked fine with my M1330 and other computers so I know it's not that. Does anyone have the same issue or maybe give me some light on this?

Aug 5, 2009As said, my current set up is an HDMI - DVI cable (HDMI to monitor and DVI to adapter) and my DVI - mini DisplayPort adapter, everything is connected fine but when I turn on the monitor, it says cable not found... and nothing is displayed on the screen but on the Macbook side of things, it sees the monitor is connected (I can extend the screen and leave the screen) but other than that, it appears I cannot get an image on the monitor, pressing every button on the monitor does not work either.
Any other information that may seem necessary, let me know. I tried clearing my PRAM and clearing the power and such but nothing seems to work.

Jan 9, 2010I have a 27" i7. I have a 24" DVI Montior hooked up to it via MDP->DVI adaptor. When the 24" Monitor is on, everything is fine. When I turn the monitor off, the magic mouse tracking on the 27" screen stutters. I am not kidding - it took me ages to figure out that to fix I either need to turn the other monitor on OR disconnect the MDP->DVI adaptor.

The real question I have is that I cloned my hard drive but in disk utility I cant just move my hard drive down extend my space to fill in the empty space for my mac partition. Also my hard drive is dual boot via bootcamp with windows 7.

All of them were designed for XP. "Supported resolutions: 1280 by 800 (native), 1152 by 720, 1024 by 640, and 800 by 500 pixels at 16:10 aspect ratio; 1024 by 768, 800 by 600, and 640 by 480 pixels at 4:3 aspect ratio; 720 by 480 pixels at 3:2 aspect ratio". But I read that the MBA can also do higher res.

This is full encryption, requiring a username and password before it can even begin to boot into Windows. It is a 3rd party product. My question is, is there anyway to run a bootcamp partition to support this kind of business encryption? How about OS X? What about inside of a VM?

Jun 5, 2012I had Win XP servicepack 3 installed via bootcamp. Recent OSX updates changed bootcamp and it supports now only Win 7. I was not informed about this change. So to be able to use my Win XP applications again I bought Win 7 Pro 64 bit OEM. The CD will work until I have to install and format the new created partition. I cannot choose between FAT or NTFS the installation continues and Windows will be unpacked. The counter remains on (0). Nothing happens further.

Jan 31, 2010I have a G4 powerbook with an LCD that only displays the top 25% of the screen. I've been using an external monitor with it just fine. Today, I reinstalled the OS and ran into a problem. The main OSX startup menu (you know, where it asks for your location, timezone, personal info, etc) is prompting me for information, and I can't see the forms to fill them in! The external monitor defaults to "extended" as opposed to "mirrored", and the forms are embedded, meaning I can't drag them over to my external monitor. Obviously, if I can't fill out these forms and get to the desktop, the laptop is completely useless.
Does anyone know how to force the external monitor to be "mirrored" from startup? Is there a keycommand?
OS X :: Monitor Suddenly Goes Completely White / External Monitor Goes Black
Jul 30, 2005I have been using the latest macbook pro 13.3" since April 2010. Over the last week the monitor suddenly goes completely white and the external monitor goes black. The laptop becomes unresponsive although the programmes opened continue running (e.g a skype voice call would continue without interruption although the monitor is all white).
The only solution at the moment is to press the turn off button for a few seconds then switch the laptop on again. It will then work normally until for no apparent reason this happens again.

Aug 12, 2010I have a blackbook running 10.6.4 with a GMA 950 that I use dual monitors with. If I use the extended desktop mode, and drag a safari window with a flash player onto the external display it will freeze and become unusuable (can't interact with it). The audio will still play through the speakers, and dragging the window back onto the main display brings back the flash functionality. This is a fairly new problem, it never used to happen before.
