I'm trying to get more specific information about a selection of files - in particular, the seconds (and even milliseconds if possible) relating to the time-stamp for each. I've tried changing the international system prefs to full format but this seems not to have had any impact on finder or get info.
View 1 RepliesI have spent several hours putting many of my favourite music CDs into iTunes. All was going well, but suddenly when accessing the "Get Info" of a particular album in order to add Artwork I got a message like "Are you sure you want to get the information of Multiple items" (my emphasis). (The error message may not be word perfect because I clicked the "don't show again" box and haven't seen it since.) But the point is that I definitely did not have multiple items selected.
There is nothing I can now do to select "Get Info" for a single album, and as a consequence I will never be able to add Artwork again when necessary. I looked through the Internet and found references to the com.apple.itunes.plist. However although I can see this using Terminal I cannot find it using Finder! This is no better than Windows, and in fact rather worse: I tried to delete iTunes, since it is obviously corrupted in some obscure way, with a view to re-installing it. But I can't even do that because it is "needed by Mac OS X"!

I'm getting the new MBP to replace my Black Macbook. This is backed up on an external HD through time machine, but when i get my new mac i want to be able to transfer only my music and photos and videos to the new machine. How can i do this? The guy at the apple store said a combination of Ethernet cable and a program called 'SuperDuper' will sort this out? Can anyone attest to this, or does anyone have a better method?

Let me do some simpler illustration.
folder1 contains file A,C,D
folder2 contains file B,E,H
folder3 contains file F,G,I
suppose there exists a software, such that when I select folder1,2,3, all contained files will be displayed in the order of A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,I...however, the files themselves are still stored in their original folders. They are just viewed in this single window.

I just purchased a new 15" MacBookPro, 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 with 16GB memory and using OS X 10.9.4
I have a SanDisk Compact Flash disk with MXF files on it from my Canon XF 100.
I have had no problem importing the files onto my MacPro. using a Ultra Card reader with USB2
But now I am using a Transcen USB3 Card reader on my new MacBookPro and it does not recognize any of those same files to import.
I get the message, "No importable files selected."
The only difference I can see between the old MacPro and new MacBookPro is that when I select "Import Media" the CANON XF drive shows up as a DEVICE on the MacBookPro instead of a CAMERA like it does on the MacPro.

I am using a Mac Mini with a Realtek USB wireless dongle to connect to the internet. The software and drivers appear connected perfectly and i see the wireless utility and I can access my wireless network, which says signal strength 100%. I connect to it and it accepts the wireless key. Says connected. Then after a few seconds the connection is lost and it says 'Disconnected'. A few seconds later it connects then disconnects and this continues indefinitely but Safari never allows me to access any webpages.Â

Ok, so I have been a life long pc user who recently bought one of the new unibody mbps. On my old pc I had a large collection of .mp3 files that i moved over to my mac. My problem is that on the pc I could easily edit all of the information by right clicking and going to properties. On my mbp I right click on the file go to get info but it wont let me edit any of the stuff in the "more info" section, like the year recorded, comments, album, or title. Is there anyway to do this? I am really ocd about how my music is organized and like it all to be the same. (seeing unorganized ipods drives me crazy) I know you can do this in itunes but i want to do it on the actual files so it is changed permanently.

The only way to close the get info bar is to click on any open window and then the info for that files appears.
I have no issue closing the get info bar on any file on my computer that's in a folder, desktop, or located anywhere else on my computer. This only occurs with files that I search for in Finder.

I then tried to change the genre of the audio file. When I change it and then replay the song, the genre changes to it's original setting? How do I change this? I'm using a mac.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have several hundred files that were converted recently to a different file format. The conversion process caused all the new files to have today's date but did not change the file names. I am looking for a way to pull the create/modify dates from the original files and apply them to the converted files so the new files will have their original dates. All of the original files had different dates, so I can't just apply a certain date to the converted files.

I am trying to find a way to get the exact second that a file was "created"
In the finder window, I can get the date and time of creation, but so far haven't found the exact second.
Problem Description:
1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems.No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.

I have several files in my trash that cannot be permanently deleted due to permissions errors, but when I click 'Get Info', the file disappears, only to reappear when I close and reopen the trash. It's very frustrating! My main goal is to just get these files off my external drive and be done with them! Super Empty Trash does nothing.

I have hundreds of files on this drive, arranged essentially in a tall column 3 or 4 files wide. I DON'T want new folders (or files that i copy or save to the drive) being placed all the way up at the top, out of view to the right because then i have to drag them all the way down to the bottom. Follow? Yet, this is what OSX is doing (usually).

Getting a message within photoshop that files cannot be saved as they are locked. I check the same files with 'Get Info' and the locked file box is unchecked. I have changed file permissions on the entire disc so that everyone can read/write but still the same message. Tried terminal command to uncheck flags also to no avail. I can do save as but a little frustrating. Is there a workaround to get all my files back onside?
This is a new disc that I may have installed without due care to permissions/ownership when I formatted it.

But lately after i haven't scanned for a while over the summer i tried scanning again and it always says NO SCANNER selected in the open scanner box from the print & fax panel from the system preferences.
