This is my first post and I've a couple of questions and did searched for it on the internet but unfortunate ...For my study Multimedia designer, I am planning to get a Mac Pro but my school wants us to get a D*ll V laptop, windows 7 with these software:Adobe CS4 Master CollectioMicrosoft Office Enterprise 2007Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007I didn't choose for this D*LL laptop because its a 17,3" one and with my schoolbooks and etc in my bag, it would be pretty heavy for me.I hope that someone in this forum knows the answers on my questions and I really appreciate your help cos I even asked my friends and family about it but unfortunate, no luck so far
View 4 Replies View RelatedI like to write a personal newsletter, then paste it into emails and send. It's easier for me to work on it in Word first. I can't figure out a format that I can use in Word so that when I copy and paste it in Apple Mail email, it keeps the same format. So far, it changes format when I paste it. what was in bold, is no longer (or the whole thing is in bold), line spacing changes, bullet points change. I tried saving it as pdf file first and the font became microscopic when I pasted it into the email...
I use MacBook Pro, OS X, 10.6.4; Mail Version 4.3 (1081); Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac, Version 12.2.6 (100708)
p.s. I'm new to Macs as of 2/2010
I use my iPad to access my work emails as it's easier on a bigger screen than the blackberry.
My IT guy at work said normally it doesn't work outside our approved accounts, except on the iPhone and iPad you can bypasss it by turning SSL off.
I am a graphic designer and i use apple mail as my main email application. When im sending photos to my project manager or clients, they are coming back to me stating that they can't save the images as separate files and that they are embedded in the email. I have 'send windows friendly files' checked as well... not only it does this to my jpg's, gifs, and pngs, it is doing this to my PSDS as well... Anybody have a solution or idea of how i can fix this problem? Should i just switch to another email application?
View 20 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change back to the Apple Mail.app 3.5 from Microsoft Entourage and I can't seem to achieve this. I am afraid my Entourage will crash soon because my Database is currently 10.2 GB large. I had to switch 2 years ago from Mail to Entourage, after I lost all my mails because the Mail.app was corrupted. I have had a change of computer although I did migrate my data and was hoping that the mail.app was working better but it is doing strange things like importing folders with no content - although it marks them with the amount of mails located within. It also refuses to import (admittedly) large amounts of mails from Entourage, it doesn't matter if it is just a single folder or several folders. It hoards some old mails in its INBOX which remain there even after I have erased them numerous times. They just keep coming back.
When I use the import option of the mail.app it will not take over all my mails but will save parts of the database or crash when I try to feed it mBox files. I realise my databases are very large but there must be some way to import data from one programme to another. I think somehow my mail.app is broken or it can't handle the huge Entourage database, is there some way I can discover whether this might be the case? I am starting to think I should stick to Entourage because it has been performing faithfully for the past years and I like the appearance more, but because I had database issues under Entourage 2004, I'm afraid my huge database will someday become irreparable. I have a 2.4 Ghz Macbook Pro, 2GB Dram, System 10.5.6, Entourage 2008 and of course the mail.app which I've had to reinstall (with Pacifist) and fix with the new Apple Mail Update that was issued on DEC 23, 2008 (which is supposed to solve stability issues).
Which would you recommend? VMware with Microsoft Office 2007 (Windows), Office 2008 Mac (native), or iWork (Apple's version)? iWork looks beatiful, especially Keynote. What do you think?

I have been having bad problems with my PB 17" and will probably sell it and my MB to get a 2.4Ghz. 15" MBP.
I also play Microsoft Flight Simulator X on my MB w/bootcamp. This game is very taxing on the 2GB of Ram and the pitiful integrated Intel GMA X3100 "graphics processor", which gets around 10fps. This game is still usable with this computer, but I want to know a few things...
1. For people who use this game on any Intel Macintosh, what FPS do you get?
2. Would getting the 2.66Ghz. MBP w/512MB of VRAM be way better than the base 2.4 MBP with only 256MB of non-shared VRAM?
3. If I get the 15" MBP, what is the best way to move the Bootcamp partition with the games to the MBP from the MB? (the FSX game folder is around 35-40GB in size because of all the add-ons)
I need to use Microsoft Office 2007. I have boot camp installed, but I hate having to restart to Windows just for the sole purpose of using Microsoft Office 2007, which also keeps me from multi-tasking with other stuff. What programs are available? I don't want to install windows again.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought the Windows 7 upgrade from the Ultimate Steal student discount program. Because I'm on exchange in the UK from a US college, I had to use my US e-mail, credit card, etc. But now, Microsoft says I can't activate Windows 7 because I am in the UK.
They won't even give me a UK product key or anything. Pirated software it is then...
Today, I was bored (i really regret this now) and i decided to install Windows XP onto my macbook. In boot camp assistant, I partitioned 32 gb for windows. After it partitioned, I inserted the windows disk and started installing. Everything was going fine, until it said where i wanted to install windows. It only gave me one choice, which was a partition of 131000 MB, which I thought (still think) was my OS X partition . Scared, I quit installation and ejected the CD. When I restarted my macbook, it led to a black screen with the blinking underscore line thingy (sorry I'm fairly computer illiterate).

I tried to set it up but it is not an option/can't figure out where Microsoft Word 2003 is when I right click and go "Open With." It says Microsoft Word 2003 - Boot camp partition but I want it so that it "Always Open with" Microsoft Word 2003.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have used a mac in the past and kept going back to Windows becuase the only thing I liked about Windows was being able to look at all my open windows at a glance in the taskbar. With Windows 7, Microsoft changed the behaviour of the taskbar and now it is very similar to the dock. So, essentially Microsoft took away the only feature that kept making me go back to Windows.Well done MS.

Does it let you run applications for windows transparently through the MAC OS? As in, I insert the installation disk for office 2007, the setup menu comes up, I install it, and I get to put the word icons on the dock, I can open word/excel/whatever and just runt he applications without having to boot in to some sort of an emulation mode or whatever?
I would appreciate some input from some people here.
I'm taking a class with a professor who uses Windows. We're using Excel (2003) tomorrow in class, and I'd like to use my Excel Mac to do the class.
Is there a big difference with the Mac version versus the Windows counterpart? Enough to make a significant difference?

On my MBP, I have tried both XP and Vista and they work well. I have the Bootcamp 2.1 update installed and no missing hardware/etc. Currently, I'm using Vista64, but XP32 had the same problem.
I pair my Logitech MX900 BT mouse using the BT Control Panel applet and it finds the mouse, pops-up "installing drivers" and everything works well. In the "services" tab for the BT device, it shows a general HID mouse/keyboard.

Does anybody know when Microsoft plans on releasing a newer version of Microsoft Office for Mac? One of my co-workers currently own the 2008 version and he's really unhappy with it. He has an excel file that's around 4MB in filesize, containing some 11,000 rows and a bunch of columns too and it's really slow to work with (he has a 1 year old MacBook Pro) and some times excel also "runs out of memory" it says and the application just freezes. It should be updated properly etc, but I wonder if maybe a newer version more suited for Snow Leopard, might be released soon?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed Microsoft Office for Mac 2008, but I really do not want or need Microsoft Entourage or Messenger. I have read that if you only uninstall part of Microsoft Office, it'll create problems with the other programs in the suite. How can I go about safely uninstalling these programs? Do I need to fully uninstall and then re-install? I made sure while installing Office to opt for a custom installation so I could un-check Entourage and Messenger. However, I didn't see those specific programs on the custom installation list. Are they maybe under a different name (like, for example, "Microsoft Essentials")? I don't know what to do. Help is much appreciated!

Apologies for the lingo but im quite frustrated. it takes apple yrs to fix one problem but only for another to appear.
I already gave up on Realtek doing something about their crappy sound quality (despite releasing a new driver every two weeks) and the mighty mouse freezing after hibernation unless u press the left button like a man possesed!!
