I have been reading more and more on parallels, and I was hoping someone here could answer some questions about its coherence mode.
Does it let you run applications for windows transparently through the MAC OS? As in, I insert the installation disk for office 2007, the setup menu comes up, I install it, and I get to put the word icons on the dock, I can open word/excel/whatever and just runt he applications without having to boot in to some sort of an emulation mode or whatever?
I would appreciate some input from some people here.
I just bought a new HD for my MBP. However I would like a backup of the data on the boot camp partition before it gets replaced (on fri.). Does anyone know of a good tool to back up Windows? I have windows 7. It is barely bootable (there is only 13 mb left free) so if it can be a native Mac app it would be better. I have heard of WinClone, anyone had any luck with that?
Also is there any easy way to enlarge the boot camp partition when before of after it has been restored on the new HD?
Specs are: original mbp 15", osx 10.6.3 and Windows 7 boot camped.
This is my first post and I've a couple of questions and did searched for it on the internet but unfortunate ...For my study Multimedia designer, I am planning to get a Mac Pro but my school wants us to get a D*ll V laptop, windows 7 with these software:Adobe CS4 Master CollectioMicrosoft Office Enterprise 2007Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007I didn't choose for this D*LL laptop because its a 17,3" one and with my schoolbooks and etc in my bag, it would be pretty heavy for me.I hope that someone in this forum knows the answers on my questions and I really appreciate your help cos I even asked my friends and family about it but unfortunate, no luck so far
I want to migrate my Parallels VM to VirtualBox. However, VB doesn't read Parallels VMs. I wanted to use the VMware converter, but the EULA says that it is only for use in migrating VMs for use in VMware software.
So, besides VMware converter, are there any other free tools that will let me convert my Parallels machine for use in VirtualBox? I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8.
i've been using Logic Express 9 for a few months now and started today messing about with the included demo project "The Numbers Game".Unfortunately, I accidentally hit save on a change and now have fundamentally affected the demo.
If I do a re-install of Logic Express 9 will this wipe out or affect my other projects in any way? I really don't want to lose any of the work I've done so far, but would really like to have back the original demo project as a learning tool.
I have an external HDD connected to my computer for windows but I don't really know of any easy backup tools like Time Machine or Carbon Copy. I have a few select programs on it but I want to cover my entire comp. Are there any equivalents of these for Windows that just backup your entire machine for easy restore? If so which ones do you guys think are the best?
I tryed to install windows xp on my mac and my disk was too scratched so the install failed. So i held down the power button on my mac until it turned off. Big mistake. I recently purchased a late 2011 15' MacBook Pro with 4 gb of ram and would like to purchase the 2011 Microsoft Office Suite for Mac, which is 3 gb. If i download the suite, will my MacBook Pro slow down significantly as a result, or just occupy most of the free space?
Ok, so i have a game, age of mythology to be specific... and i want to install it onto my macbook pro!!All good so far, so i insert the disk it spins nothing pops up or anything.I go into finder click autorun, progaming and junk comes up in text edit... So i click SETUP.EXE nothing happens.
I am trying to install microsoft office but in the middle msg came to close safari in order to complete installation. However safari window is already closed .Please guide what to do???
How do I down load Microsoft internet explorer? I already have a version of Internet explorer but a websit is requesting I use icrosoft internet Explorer 5.1 0r higher
Because I installed Microsoft Office 2004 from my friend's disk, I do not have the actual disk for installation. So, if I were to do an archive and install of leopard on my macbook, would microsoft office be deleted?
So I installed Snow Leopard last night, and everything's been going smoothly; that is, until I needed to reinstall Microsoft Office 2008. I uninstalled it when it was buggy, as I figured it was a simple issue that could be fixed with a reinstall, but now it refuses to even install. I can get through the installer, up until the point where it tells me to select the components to install, and then when I click "Install"- nothing happens. Here's a video of exactly what's happening, to better diagnose the problem. what's going on?
I'm drowning here trying to get a fresh start with Snow Leopard. So I'm undergoing reinstalling all my old software from a carbon copy clone of my old hard drive. I upgraded to a larger hard-drive and snow leopard and have opted for a fresh start. See my thread here: [URL] I have most of all my software install disks except for Microsoft Office for Mac 2008. Does anyone know if I can get these disks? The copy I have is fully registered and legitimate. I just need the install disks. The other stupid thing I've done is I can't remember where/when I bought them. Its killing me. The other question I have is if I drag the MS Office 2008 folder from my carbon copy clone applications folder to my new applications folder will it all work correctly? Will it update?
The setup: VirtualBox (latest), Snow Leopard and Windows XP.
The situation: I installed VirtualBox, all seems fine. I then installed Windows XP. All seemed fine. I installed Gust Additions. Then I installed Safari. Then I went and downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials. When it attempted to install, it would fail, and asks me to restart and try again. I went ahead and restarted. When the virtual machine restarted, it'd get all screwed up, squashed video and frozen. Then I'd get a dialog saying that the virtual machine disk image has a problem or some such, and claims that a likely cause is a problem with the harddrive. After I clicked OK, it beachball'd. I force-quit the program.
Which would you recommend? VMware with Microsoft Office 2007 (Windows), Office 2008 Mac (native), or iWork (Apple's version)? iWork looks beatiful, especially Keynote. What do you think?
I have been having bad problems with my PB 17" and will probably sell it and my MB to get a 2.4Ghz. 15" MBP.
I also play Microsoft Flight Simulator X on my MB w/bootcamp. This game is very taxing on the 2GB of Ram and the pitiful integrated Intel GMA X3100 "graphics processor", which gets around 10fps. This game is still usable with this computer, but I want to know a few things...
1. For people who use this game on any Intel Macintosh, what FPS do you get?
2. Would getting the 2.66Ghz. MBP w/512MB of VRAM be way better than the base 2.4 MBP with only 256MB of non-shared VRAM?
3. If I get the 15" MBP, what is the best way to move the Bootcamp partition with the games to the MBP from the MB? (the FSX game folder is around 35-40GB in size because of all the add-ons)
I need to use Microsoft Office 2007. I have boot camp installed, but I hate having to restart to Windows just for the sole purpose of using Microsoft Office 2007, which also keeps me from multi-tasking with other stuff. What programs are available? I don't want to install windows again.
I bought the Windows 7 upgrade from the Ultimate Steal student discount program. Because I'm on exchange in the UK from a US college, I had to use my US e-mail, credit card, etc. But now, Microsoft says I can't activate Windows 7 because I am in the UK.
They won't even give me a UK product key or anything. Pirated software it is then...
Today, I was bored (i really regret this now) and i decided to install Windows XP onto my macbook. In boot camp assistant, I partitioned 32 gb for windows. After it partitioned, I inserted the windows disk and started installing. Everything was going fine, until it said where i wanted to install windows. It only gave me one choice, which was a partition of 131000 MB, which I thought (still think) was my OS X partition . Scared, I quit installation and ejected the CD. When I restarted my macbook, it led to a black screen with the blinking underscore line thingy (sorry I'm fairly computer illiterate).
How do I set up my mbp to open documents with Microsoft Word 2003 "always" under VMWare Fusion? I tried to set it up but it is not an option/can't figure out where Microsoft Word 2003 is when I right click and go "Open With." It says Microsoft Word 2003 - Boot camp partition but I want it so that it "Always Open with" Microsoft Word 2003.
I have used a mac in the past and kept going back to Windows becuase the only thing I liked about Windows was being able to look at all my open windows at a glance in the taskbar. With Windows 7, Microsoft changed the behaviour of the taskbar and now it is very similar to the dock. So, essentially Microsoft took away the only feature that kept making me go back to Windows.Well done MS.
I'm looking to transfer my Vista license from my PC to my Macbook when Windows 7 is released, as 7 will be installed on the PC. The problem is that it's an OEM license. Are Microsoft strict about the transfer of licenses or is it possible to ask the person on the phone to reactivate it on another computer?
I recently installed the 2011 version. So now I have 2008 and 2011 on my Mac... Is it ok for me to uninstall the 2008 version or will that get rid of all my docs, spreadsheets, presentations?
