I have a new Macbook Pro. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and Microsoft Office Pro with Bootcamp. I run these with Parallels desktop. Since I am using Parallels, 7, and Office, do I need an antivirus? If yes, which is the best route to go?

I searched the forums and came up with nada, so I thought I'd ask. Has anyone taken advantage of Microsoft Ultimate Steal to buy Office 2007 Ultimate? If so, it is the full version and not the upgrades correct? I just want to make sure before I invest. I have iWork, but need to be able to work w/Office in my Windows 7 Bootcamp partition.

In all of the programs, i right click, and the option bar briefly flashes, but then disappears, without letting me choose any of the options. I installed winows vista ultimate (32 bit) and play Age of the Empires iii in windows. However, the game lags, usually when there is artillery or ships. Whenever I start the game, it displays the message --- you have a 32 mb video card, the game requires 64 mb to play -- attempt to run or cancel (i do not get this message in mac os x).
I have a 2.16 core duo, 2 gb ram and an intel GMA 950 -- VRAM 64 MB shared system memory video card. I do not understand why I get this message in Windows. Is windows not detecting the video card properly?
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate on iEmulator V (Virtual Machine) and everything is fast and awesome but there is no sound! I think it's a driver issue as Ubuntu on iEmulator V works fine but I don't know how to get drivers! I have tried some realtek stuff but that hasn't worked!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm looking to buy a new macbook pro for school but I have some questions before I can buy one. For some of my school work I still have to use windows. I'll need windows for SPSS for windows and for MS Office, Access to be more specific.
I already own a 21.5 inch iMac on which I run Windows 7 Ultimate and I have installed MS Office in Windows 7. The problem is that I noticed some difference in using the keys on your keyboard while working in excel or access.
For example: on my windows laptop in excel, i have to hold control and then click on the fields i want to select. I noticed that on my iMac i needed to hold the right alt key on my mac keyboard and then i got to click the fields I want to select. So this is just a slight difference and it doesn't matter at all if I have to use some different keys for this type of actions. As long as I know how to do them offcourse. This may be silly for some of you but in order to get some good grades I really need to know this. Note that I only need to use Access not excel. But I just gave Excel as an example so you guys know where I'm coming from.
So my question is, does anyone have any experience with this? Are there other key changes I have to know? Or important notes on this subject?
I also have another question. As I already explained above I am running Windows 7 ultimate via Vmware Fusion and I have installed MS Office in this virtual machine. Can I just copy the virtual machine file from my iMac to my macbook pro? So I will have the same settings on my MBP?
I have a 2010 15" MacBook Pro 2.4 i5 that I am trying to install Windows 7 on using BootCamp. I have installed a partition using BootCamp of 45GB but once it prompts me to insert the Windows disk, I insert it but after a few seconds the machine ejects the disk without ever mounting or seemingly recognizing the disk.
I am trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit from a disk.
Can anyone offer any insight or help me figure out what the problem is? I have already tried rebooting and that doesn't work.
Just updated to 3.2 and now my trackpad won't work like it used to. I used to be able to tap with one finger and drag the cursor with the other to select multiple items, now it won't let me do this anymore. Was the update intended for some other Win OS or what?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a 2010 Mac Pro 2.8 quad and installed vista 64 via boot camp. It just doesn't seem to recognize any wireless connection as if the airport card isn't even installed. I checked device manager and it shows that the network controller does not have any drivers installed. I have never had any issues connecting wireless with the 2010 mac mini or previous macs.

I use Microsoft Word, Excel and sometimes, Power Point quite often at college. They have PCs of course... and I have an iMac. And I wanted to get Microsoft Office at home.
Now, I was looking on the web for different prices and all that. I wasn't sure between buying Windows XP (because I work with XP at college, not Vista) and downloading Bootcamp, or Microsoft Office for Mac. Also, I wasn't sure if the Mac version was similar to the one for Windows... and also if I could transfer files from the PC to Mac versions without problems.
Basically, money wise, if I buy one or the other, there isn't too much of a difference. But I haven't looked everywhere for the best prices available, although I'm guessing it's pretty much the same most places (internet).

Does it let you run applications for windows transparently through the MAC OS? As in, I insert the installation disk for office 2007, the setup menu comes up, I install it, and I get to put the word icons on the dock, I can open word/excel/whatever and just runt he applications without having to boot in to some sort of an emulation mode or whatever?
I would appreciate some input from some people here.

I recently installed Windows Vista Home Basic through BootCamp on my MacBook Pro. Everything works fine, except for the one thing that there's no sound... At the moment if i start something with sound, you'll see "the green bar jump up and down" But no sound... Tried to search for an audio driver, and installed one, (not sure which one it has to be though) But it didn't help...
Have tried uninstalling the whole lot and reinstalling it again, same thing happened, when i put in the Max OS x for the driver installation i recall it saying removing Realtek Audio or something, so search for that, but didn't help :/
Any ideas to would i could try to do?
just bought a copy of microsoft office 2008 for mac with 3 product keys, but i only have one mac, and 9 PC's. I am running Windows 7 on my Mac, and i wanted to know if i could download a free trial version of it from microsoft, then enter my mac product key for the full version. oh also i only own 2 PC's and 1 Mac that are my own computers. And I put a CD of XP in cd drive when it restart it show me no bootable disk found something like that on a black screen. Then I restart again and press and hold c key nothing happen. After that I try to hold my option button and I saw a grey screen with a harddisk but unable to find the cd icon same story with windows 7 and vista dvd but when I try to use Mac OS X cd that come with bundle. It show me the icon of mac cd on grey screen near the hard disk icon when I hold the option button. I also check the cd and dvd on a windows boot perfectly. And when I insert disk in mac it works fine and also shows the icon of cd and dvd on mac desktop. I would like to have XP and mac OSX on my laptop.

However when running the mac, XP loads up automatically. I can not seem to get the mac to start up. I done everything by the book, why is this happening? how do I fix? Does anybody know when Microsoft plans on releasing a newer version of Microsoft Office for Mac? One of my co-workers currently own the 2008 version and he's really unhappy with it. He has an excel file that's around 4MB in filesize, containing some 11,000 rows and a bunch of columns too and it's really slow to work with (he has a 1 year old MacBook Pro) and some times excel also "runs out of memory" it says and the application just freezes. It should be updated properly etc, but I wonder if maybe a newer version more suited for Snow Leopard, might be released soon?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've installed the Boot Camp drivers that came with the Snow Leopard dvd. Then after everything is installed, I look in the Apple Software Update program for the 3.1 Boot Camp-Update. I try to install this, but during installation several errors pop-up from the bluetooth, trackpad and keyboard driver.
After restarting the laptop, I can't use the functions (like brightness, volume,...) on the F1-F10 buttons anymore. The only solution to make it work again is to reinstall Windows. System Restore or trying to install the original Boot Camp drivers doesn't work. I thought this was just some corrupt download so I reinstalled Windows, but the problem still occurred. I then did it again, but still.
Just installed Win 7 on MBP13 in bootcamp. I am going to install Parallels next and point the VM to bootcamp OS so I can choose. I'll likely run Parallels mostly, but may need to boot from bootcamp once in a while for native speed. If I install the aps in the bootcamp OS, can the VM in Parallels access them? Or do I have to install them again in the VM?
