I Just updated to OSX and now cannot connect to my wifi. It's not the wifi system because I can still use my phone on wifi. What changed and how do I connect to wifi.
View 1 RepliesSo ever since I updated my late 2011 to Mavericks (10.9.3) I can't connect to wifi. I have tried lots of different "solutions" and none seem to work. I have tried from Renewing DHCP lease to resetting my router. Resetting my router worked for about and hour and after my computer went to sleep it stopped working. there is nothing wrong with my wifi and can connect to my wifi on other devices. Even another iMac that isn't running mavericks.

I've reset the modem and I still have access on my phone and TV to the wifi. But when I type in the password of my wifi it says incorrect when it's the right password. It also won't connect to open wifi next works.

I have 2 other computers connecting via wifi, my ipad and phone both connect and my wife's ipad connects as well. My computer can see the network but it simply WILL NOT let me connect. I can connect via ethernat cable.

Updated this morning. Then it would not hold a wifi connection for more than 5 seconds at a time. Had to use Lion Recovery to install a Time Machine backup to 10.7.2. That took over two hours. After that wifi was semi-ok. Lion has always had a problem with wifi. I am very disappointed with how Apple has handled the Lion rollout. wifi think twice before installing this update.

I have a pretty old Titanium Mac Book that runs OS 10.3.9. It's a moderately slow machine, but still works- and although I realize that it won't be able to stream video or anything, I figure it would work for email, and basic web browsing- But I'm wondering if it's going to be compatible with any new products such as a USB wifi antenna - because the room where I want to use it won't alow for an ethernet connection-  Also, will the old 10.3.9 OS allow me to connect wifi to the newer airport extreme base stations?Â

I don't know what's wrong with it.My ipod touch connects just fine and yet when i try to connect my new macbook it won't allow me to connect.I've never owned a macbook - so i have no idea how to fix this.
I currently have the network setup assistant running and configuring - but it's been about an hour and it hasn't done anything.Is there something else i need to do?
It is on my home network which I have been using for months. I have made no changes to my router or network setting. Other devices will still connect to the wifi with no problem and I connect through the ethernet connection with no problem. I have disabled the wifi and restarted my computer with no luck.

Updated to latest security download and now MacBookPro cannot connect to wireless router.iPad works on the router and MacbookPro works on other wifi networks, but it will nolonger work with the actual wireless router that I used to download the latest security software? Is there some security issue I need to address? There is no security/password on this wireless router.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSaved my .AI file I was working on, the power shut down in the office and when I restarted my computer, the file was 2 previous saves before. I lost important info. Is there a way to find a hidden file from somewhere in outer space to access the most saved version of the file. I DO save my files often to avoid some basic issues, but this one seems like a software glitch.

Trying to install OS X Server and it says that I have to update to 10.9.3
Which I did as you can see.
I Rebooted again doing a Command/Option/ P R to insure that all cache memory was deleted and Still it will not show the update for 10.9.3
What can I do now to force it to read 10.9.3

When I updated my MacBook Air software from 10.6.8 to Maverick I lost all my videos in the process. Where did they go and how do I get them back? Did they all end up in various events folders in iphoto? They used to also be separate from the photos in the video folder on the harddrive but are no longer there.

I work everyday with my 21.5' iMac and it had OS Lion before I updated to Mavericks last month. As I work with lots of files, I have also a 1TB Lacie external drive pluged into it via firewire and I constantly access these files. After I updated though, I'm experiencing a strange problem. Everytime I search for a file on Finder, all the results that come up can't be edited or even selected. This is driving me crazy because I must open another tab and go all the way through the file I want as I can't select any file from the searches. All the search results come up written in gray color and with a empty circle on its left side. I can't even click on them! For better explanation, here is a picture of what happens:
Before the update, I used to normally access every result the search came up to.
I have another iMac here in the network with Mavericks too and all the searches returns with selectable and editable results.

What I mean is that the link will open the browser (which ever one is set as default,) but the browser opens to the home page instead of going to the page specified by the link in the email. it is not because I haven't set a default browser.

Epson's website says check your Mac software updates and doesn't offer to download the driver directly. But there are no available updates for my computer as of now. I am writing this from a Panera Bread, as my school's internet won't work on my MacBook since a fresh install of SL.There isn't much to say, except I cleared out all my old Airport profiles, and my old networks. My school will let me connect for about 5 minutes, then it kicks me off (I see the exclamation point over the Airport icon in the menubar). I checked a friends MB without SL, and she is connecting no problem.My school's network was never protected according to Airport (never saw the padlock), but whenever I would go to connect it would ask for my username and password.

Often, when I go to a new location like to a library or a friend's house, I won't be able to connect to the wifi (it will timeout) or it will connect, but the signal strength will be very weak or the internet will be very slow.
It's not that it's out of range, I'm in an area that's known to have wifi and others around me can pick it up fine with full strength. At home, my wifi works fine, but the router is in the same room I use the computer in.

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo I've got an odd problem, here's the scenario: 27" iMac 2.8GHz Quad Core running OS X 10.7.1, and a netgear router (connected to a Comcast modem).It sees the network, connects then drops the network. However, a MacBook Air running 10.6.8, an iPad, and a Sony Viao running Windows 7 can connect and stay connected to the network fine.This made me think that something with the iMac's WiFi card is broken so we brought it to work and connected it to our network (802.11x, WPA2 Enterprise, Cisco routers) and it worked perfectly. He brought it back home, still couldn't connect to his network.We brought it to the campus Apple store and they replaced the airport card and it seemed to resolve the problem for a bit, but now the issue has come back.Yesterday we did a full time machine back up, wiped the hard drive and did a full OS X Lion re-install and restored from the Time Machine back up, ran all of the Apple software updates and it connected to the WiFi here at work fine.Brought it home, still won't connect to his network. This would make me think that it's an issue with his home network but all the other devices are working fine.We had a Comcast technician look at the network and they found nothing wrong.

My Macbook Pro has been great since I got it last June. Recently I just did an software update that I believe included something with the wifi/airport setting. Now I cannot connect to ANYTHING. My work wifi network I can connect with my iPhone and others have connected to my "puck" wifi from CLEAR. I have ruled out that the connections I am trying to connect to are the problem. When I try to connect with my MBP I it tries and then gets greyed out in the top with the exclamation point. It says:Â

When I have tried to "fix" using the normal processes when clicking on it it says it cannot help me. I have researched and cleared the network settings in the keychain access. There was another thing that said to delete the apps.apple.alf.pfile or something like that but when I went to the area in Library/Preferences that file didnt exist. I need my Macbook to access the Internet.Â

I have a MacBook Air that is refusing to connect to the home network. The MacBook is a late 2011 model 3,1 core 2 duo, 4Gb RAM 128Gb SSD connecting to a virgin media super hub. Tried the hub with and without enabled security. Sometime the MacBook sees the hub when you try to connect it immediately errors with could not join..... A network timeout occurred. Â The Bluetooth seems to be just as flaky. Won't connect to my iPhone?Thinking the wifi/Bluetooth card may be dodgy. Â

I have an older (white) iMac that connects wirelessly to my Linksys router. I bought a new iMac and I am unable to connect both iMacs wirelessly at the same time. I was wondering if the issue had to do with using the same Apple ID's, but I don't think that is the case. It seems like the old iMac is connected to the router, the new one wont connect and vise versa.

I've seen this question asked before, but it was all related to people who are running lion. I have 10.5.8, which I believe is leopard. Whenever I try to connect to airport, I get my network from the list, enter the password then I get a connection timeout after about 15 seconds. We have had this problem for a while now. We just got a new router this week and I'm still have this problem.

I have a MacBook Air. WIFI has been working just fine, until yesterday, after I turned it off to use a LAN network via USB adapter. Ever since I have not been able to reconnect via WIFI, and I get the message (that a lot of people get) of "wifi has the sel-assigned IP address and will not connect to the Internet." I've tried restart, shut-down and wait, tossed preferences, removed preferred networks, renewed DHCP Lease, all repeatedly, but to no avail.Â
the strange thing was, today I was somewhere that had 801.11g and 801.11n networks, and I was able to connect on the g network, but not on n. And what was more strange, was that the same Ethernet Lan connection I used yesterday no longer allows me to connect to the Internet, even though the sidebar says Ethernet was connected and showed green light.Â
At the same time my iPhone and iPad can both connect to any of the networks.Â
Just bought my daughter a 13.6" 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro, and it connects fine to my Apple TimeCapsule in 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz mode with no issues using DHCP. However, when my daughter brings the laptop to her mother's house, and attempts to connect it to her Cisco 2Wire160 (802.11g using WEP) router with DHCP, it doesn't connect. She can select the router, but it doesn't prompt for a password.
When she goes into System Preferences -> Network, WiFi say something about a self-assigned IP address of 169.x.x.x., when that router is chosen.
If I have her delete the router from Advanced in the Preferred Network section, and then connect to any of the neighbor's routers, she's immediately prompted for a password. Attempting to re-connect to the 2Wire160, still doesn't prompt for a password.
I received my new Macbook Pro 13 inch on Wednesday this week. I was so excited to get it, however, it's not all been rosy!!! I turned it on and expecting it to connect to my wifi straight away but oh no, it was having none of it. I tried for 3 hours to figure out a way to connect it but it wouldn't work.I have since tried again yesterday and today but still no joy.It can't be the router as our iphones are connected to it fine.
