MacBook Pro :: Wifi Won't Connect To Anything

Feb 29, 2012

My Macbook Pro has been great since I got it last June.  Recently I just did an software update that I believe included something with the wifi/airport setting.  Now I cannot connect to ANYTHING.  My work wifi network I can connect with my iPhone and others have connected to my "puck" wifi from CLEAR.  I have ruled out that the connections I am trying to connect to are the problem.  When I try to connect with my MBP I it tries and then gets greyed out in the top with the exclamation point.  It says:

Alert: No Internet Connection

When I have tried to "fix" using the normal processes when clicking on it it says it cannot help me.  I have researched and cleared the network settings in the keychain access.  There was another thing that said to delete the or something like that but when I went to the area in Library/Preferences that file didnt exist.  I need my Macbook to access the Internet.

I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 It is a 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3

MacBook Pro :: 10.7.3 Won't Connect To Schools Wifi

Mar 13, 2012

Yesterday I purchased a new Macbook Pro and brought it to use on campus today and although the wireless status bar said I was connected I wasn't able to navigate the internet. It would sometimes prompt me to enter my atlas login information but after clicking submit wouldn't do anything or the apple homepage on safari would open and I wouldn't be able to navigate to anywhere else.I called the help desk and was told to go to the tech room, after going there and was told I couldn't be helped I was sent to another lady who called someone and by merely restarting my laptop I was able to navigate the internet. After that I went back to the building I spend all my time in and the I was back to square one. I have searched numerous forums with similar issues and attempted as much as I understood and could and am still unable to connect. Please help, I need so badly to be able to connect to wifi on this computer while at school!

MacBook Pro :: Added A New Network Location, & Now IPhone 4 Won't Connect To Wifi?

Apr 6, 2012

I've got a macbook pro which was working fine via wifi …. We had a power-cut last week and things have now gone rather mental. When trying to connect to the internet via wireless, it kept coming up with “Wi-Fi does not have an IP address and cannot connect to the Internet.”

So I ran a search on google on how to try and sort it. I followed the following instructions : Add a New Network Location & Renew DHCP LeaseLaunch “System Preferences” from the  Apple menuSelect the “Network” panelClick on the “Location” pull down menu and choose “Edit Locations…”Click on the + plus icon to add a new network location, give it a unique name, and click “Done”Back at the Network panel with the newly created location selected, click on “Advanced” in the bottom right cornerClick on the “TCP/IP” tabClick on “Renew DHCP Lease” and wait for the numbers on the left to repopulate, then click “OK”

I was absolutely thrilled as it worked!!! … and continues to work ... The only problem now is that my Macbook is the only one in the house that can connect to the internet wirelessly. When I try and connect my iPhone 4 it asks me for the Password then says “Unable to join network” and also my mums laptop refuses to join wifi …. She’s not happy with me as she now has to run it via ethernet. I tried to set up my iPhone manually, but with no joy as I'm not sure what I'm doing

I've seen this question asked before, but it was all related to people who are running lion. I have 10.5.8, which I believe is leopard. Whenever I try to connect to airport, I get my network from the list, enter the password then I get a connection timeout after about 15 seconds. We have had this problem for a while now. MacBook Air :: It Won't Connect To Wifi

Apr 4, 2012

I have a MacBook Air that is refusing to connect to the home network. The MacBook is a late 2011 model 3,1 core 2 duo, 4Gb RAM 128Gb SSD connecting to a virgin media super hub. Tried the hub with and without enabled security. Sometime the MacBook sees the hub when you try to connect it immediately errors with could not join..... A network timeout occurred.  The Bluetooth seems to be just as flaky. Won't connect to my iPhone?Thinking the wifi/Bluetooth card may be dodgy.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Mac Won't Automatically Connect To Wifi

Jun 23, 2012

I have a brand spanking new iMac running Lion. I have it setup with different accounts - me, my wife, the kids,... Problem is when I switch accounts or log on it wont connect automatically to my home Cisco wifi router. I need to select it each time from the menu bar. For me this just very frustrating but for anyone visiting it pretty much means that they wont be able to use the computer as they thing that it isn't connected to the net. There has got to be some way to automatically connect to a network, it works perfectly each time on all of my windows devices. Anyone know how to fix this - its close to making me pack the thing up and send it back?

OS X :: My MacBook Won't Connect To My Home WiFi Network?

Dec 10, 2010

My MacBook, circa 2007, refuses to connect to my home WiFi network, despite having added my MAC address, being WPA encrypted, updated firmware and the like. I haven't had a problem in the last year, until I started taking my laptop to work. It connects to my work wifi network, WPA encryption, and every other network. I have no idea why it wont connect at home. I'm running snow leopard, other macs and PCs at home can connect... It seems I'm missing some odd quirk, I've seen a few threads of similar complaints, but no working resolution. Any ideas? I've wiped out Safari, cleaned all network settings, and it all started once my use shifted predominantly from home to work. Hmpf.

I keep getting a connection timeout and hence it won't connect.I installed windows via boot camp and also tried to connect it that way. I put the password in the same way as my Dad had done on his PC and it said the signal strength was excellent, but the status said little or no connectivity.

In case that question makes no sense, what I want to do is connect to my TC's network (so I have access to the hard drive) but still get my brother's internet connection.

IMac PPC :: G3 Flower Power Won't Connect To WiFi

May 27, 2012

I just got an old iMac G3 Flower Power -  500 MHz , 1 GB of RAM, clean install of Mac OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) and System 9.2.2. It has an AirPort Card Installed. For some reason it won't connect to my Wi-Fi network, : "Error joining this network".I changed the security settings from WAP2-PSK to WEP but that didn't do anything.

- Is there a way to find out if the  airport card in the iMac broken and needs to be replaced?

- Could the Airport card be obsolete? If so which one should I get?

- Is there a know wireless USB adapter I could use (USB 1.1)?

- Do I need to upgrade to Tiger (10.4)?

MacBook Pro :: It Can't Connect To WiFi

Jun 13, 2012

Just bought my daughter a 13.6" 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro, and it connects fine to my Apple TimeCapsule in 2.4 GHz & 5 GHz mode with no issues using DHCP. However, when my daughter brings the laptop to her mother's house, and attempts to connect it to her Cisco 2Wire160 (802.11g using WEP) router with DHCP, it doesn't connect. She can select the router, but it doesn't prompt for a password.

When she goes into System Preferences -> Network, WiFi say something about a self-assigned IP address of 169.x.x.x., when that router is chosen.

If I have her delete the router from Advanced in the Preferred Network section, and then connect to any of the neighbor's routers, she's immediately prompted for a password. Attempting to re-connect to the 2Wire160, still doesn't prompt for a password.

MacBook :: Won't Work With Wifi Network / Drops Wifi

Jan 10, 2011

MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.

Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect
I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox.
Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would.
At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.

So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.

Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.

AIRPORT says the following in System Profiler.

Software Versions:
Menu Extra:6.2.1 (621.1)
configd plug-in:6.2.3 (623.2)
System Profiler:6.0 (600.9)

Intel Mac :: Can't Connect To WiFi

Feb 2, 2012

So I've got an odd problem, here's the scenario:27" iMac 2.8GHz Quad Core running OS X 10.7.1, and a netgear router (connected to a Comcast modem). It sees the network, connects then drops the network. However, a MacBook Air running 10.6.8, an iPad, and a Sony Viao running Windows 7 can connect and stay connected to the network fine. This made me think that something with the iMac's WiFi card is broken so we brought it to work and connected it to our network (802.11x, WPA2 Enterprise, Cisco routers) and it worked perfectly. He brought it back home, still couldn't connect to his network. We brought it to the campus Apple store and they replaced the airport card and it seemed to resolve the problem for a bit, but now the issue has come back.Yesterday we did a full time machine back up, wiped the hard drive and did a full OS X Lion re-install and restored from the Time Machine back up, ran all of the Apple software updates and it connected to the WiFi here at work fine.Brought it home, still won't connect to his network. This would make me think that it's an issue with his home network but all the other devices are working fine.We had a Comcast technician look at the network and they found nothing wrong.

I have an older (white) iMac that connects wirelessly to my Linksys router. I bought a new iMac and I am unable to connect both iMacs wirelessly at the same time. MacBook Pro :: Using Wifi - Connected To Internet But Pages Won't Load?

Jul 30, 2010

I tried ringing apple but unbeknownst to me my warranty has expired so wanted to see could I fix it before using money that was intended for my new iPhone. Right, so yesterday I used a friends o2 dongle and I was asked did I want to save internet settings, I said yes - not knowing what I was saving (silly silly).

I had to do work at my old college but was unable to connect to wifi. Went to the IT lads and they fixed it - sort of - I could access the Internet but no sites that required a log in eg gmail facebook.

I am now at home and on my iPod typing this as my Mbp won't connect to the Internet! It was connecting to the wifi provider, have full signal but won't load the pages. I know it can't be the wifi as my iPod works fine.
