I've seen this problem documented elsewhere, but none of the "solutions" seem to work.
I have two-step verification enabled on my Gmail account. I generate a unique application password for Apple Mail, which I enter into the password field in the Mail application.
Inexplicably, anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 week later, when I attempt to send an e-mail I will be prompted that the password is "wrong." It isn't, because I HAVEN'T CHANGED ANYTHING. The only way I can get the message to go away is to revoke and then re-generate another unique password.
Interestingly, I can receive e-mails into the account with no problem, but it seems the sending part is where Mail gets wonky. I have tried:
-Removing the e-mail account entirely from Mail and setting it up from scratch
-Deleting all traces of the old password from my Mac, including from Keychain Access (did this combined with the above).
I am getting tired of this and am two steps from ditching Mail for a more functional e-mail client.
Running 10.9.3 and having an issues with gmail. Been running our business and personal gmail thru Apple mail for years and never had a issue. We have also just switch over to Comcast High Speed business for internet. The issue is this.....first thing in the morning start up the computer and open up mail. The app runs but no new mail comes in. I check my iphone and I'll have 6-7 new emails. I'll hit "Get Mail" a few times and still nothing happens. Now the strange part. If I send and email to anyone within 2-3 seconds I'll get all of my new emails. For the rest of the day its seems like mail is hanging up "Somewhere". The same thing is happening on 2-3 other macs in my company which are set up the same way.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new iMac and backed up from Time Machine. Everything is fine apart from Apple Mail, which no longer searches my Gmail archive. The archive is still there, all 33,000 messages, but just not searchable.
So, for example, if I got an email from a guy called George a month ago, when I search 'George' nothing comes up. I can manually go to the Archive and find the email but obviously that takes a lot of time.
Is this an Apple issue or a Gmail issue? Given that I run the same account on my laptop and it's all working fine, plus it was working fine before, I would assume it;s an Apple fault.

I have just emailed myself a link from my Dad's Imac to mine and it worked fine.
Now I need to email one back to him and when I click on "Mail Link to This Page" or "Mail Contents of This Page" it won't let me do it.

I have been using Gmail for about 7 months, now. I am using it in conjunction with a MacBook Pro (15 inch, mid-2010, i5, 2.53 GHz, running OS 10.7.4 and the current version of Mail) and an iPhone 4S (iOS 5.1.1 with the pre-installed Mail app). I, rarely, use Gmail's web interface and prefer to view and manage my mail using my devices.
I, recently, discovered a Gmail behavior that I wasn't aware of. Whenever I deleted an email from my Inbox on my MacBook, it wouldn't, actually, delete from Gmail. Instead, a copy of the mail would remain in Gmail's "All Mail" folder. It seems that Gmail and I have different ideas about deleting. When I delete, it means that I would, actually, like to get rid of it, not hide it somewhere else. After sorting through the, almost, 3000 emails in the "All Mail" folder and re-deleting everything that I thought I had already deleted (a pain, to be sure), I found the solution to my problem.In Apple Mail, I checked both Trash options in my account preferences then selected Gmail's "Trash" folder and used the "Use This Mailbox For" option to map it to Mail's trash (similarly, I mapped the trash folder on my iPhone to Gmail's trash folder). Now, everything I delete is going to the same place (and actually getting deleted).

I have decided to start using gmail and keeping my email online instead of stored locally in the Mail program.
I have all my old mail and sent mail downloaded locally in the Mail program.
Is there an easy way to export all of that into gmail? I see I can import mail into gmail from other mail accounts, but here I am talking about importing mail that is now stored locally.
I've looked over the settings and can't figure out what's going on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI won't say that it's deleted because it's still in the accounts in preferences in Apple Mail, but the gmail imap folders used to be along the left side of the program are not there.
All I see are 2 Junk (Gmail) folders on the left along with my other two email accounts I use. My Mobile Me and Comcast emails are still there.
I've had my first Mac for about a year now - 11" Mac Air - and love it. But I'm still using Gmail, rather than the Apple mail program. I've got my iphone's calendar synced up to Google's and I can't see a reason to use the Apple mail app instead of Gmail in a browser. I'm running Chrome as my browser too?

I just got back home after 10 weeks away.
When away I access gmail remotely. (From a non-mac portable PC)
I just turned on my mac at home and it will not find the 10 weks of saved messages on my gmail inbox account.
All was well before I left in January and all other programs appear to be working. I have checked the mail preferences and seem to be OK.
When I ask for new mail the activity indicator appears to work OK and the wheel goes for a while but no new mail appears in my inbox.

I have just set up IMAP within Applemail. I used to have a GMAIL account linked to the Appple mail but have since deleted this connection within GMAIL and disabled IMAP there to. I cannot delete the GMAIL tab as per the screen shot. Maybe Im missing something here?

I used exactly the same settings suggested on the gmail site but the service works very bad. Messages take forever to download, often I click on them and the preview window starts spinning. It also hangs frequently while synching or caching and I have to do a force quit. Is somebody using this in a profitable way?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an iMac running Snow Leopard and I am trying to add my gmail account to the mail app and im entering the right password and username and I keep getting- "Logging in to the Gmail IMAP server [URL] failed. Make sure the user name and password you entered are correct, then click Continue. If the information isn't correct, you cannot receive messages." And my mail wont sync or anything. I tried with both imap and pop and neither work. In my gmail setting I have both pop and imap turned on so I dont get why im having a problem. My gmail account that I used to have on my account before I upgraded to snow leopard still works and my mobile me account works but I cant add any new gmail accounts. I've tried adding a few different gmail accounts and none will work.
View 1 Replies View Relatedfor those of you using gmail with imap know, read and unread status's do not update for some reason w/out turning mail off then back on. i recently purchased a new (to me) intel macbook with snow leopard 10.6 and used mobileme to sync my mail accounts. what i noticed to my pleasant surprise is that my iphone, macbook, and gmail are all in perfect sync, BUT the g4 powermac with leopard and apple mail 3.6 still has a problem. is there any updates coming out, i find it hard to believe with the leopard updates still coming out they still haven't addressed this issue. are those of you with snow leopard experiencing the same perfect syncs with gmail read/unread status?

1. I have about 8GIG in my Gmail Mailbox. I setup Advanced IMAP setting in Gmail and set it so that the All Mall folder does not sync. However, the All Mail folder is already in my Mail app.. How can I delete it?
2. How can i force downloads of all the other folders?
Installed Growl and GrowlMail today. Anyway, my gmail is configured with custom labels, which IMAP detects as "folders". For example, any time my gmail account gets a facebook mail, it labels the message as "Facebook". This is great, but GrowlMail shows TWO Growl messages. One for the message coming into "Inbox" and another to the message coming into the "Facebook" folder. This is my theory. Otherwise, I have no idea why I'm seeing multiple Growl alerts for emails that are moved/labeled.

I don't know why I am not able to check my email unless I use the website. I tried clearing the captcha and even changing my password in gmail.

All I can think is something may have changed on their servers in the UK since it changed to 'googlemail', however, I managed to get a 'gmail' address before the switch.
I would like to know how to consolidate my two inbox from gmail and apple mail? Because every time I get an email and read it in inbox it still shows as unread in gmail folder "All mail".

I figured it would work eventually so i just looked into gmail when i had to send. cause I still received gmail in apple mail. just now i decided to remove and put gmail back in. When i did this, my gmail inbox still had all the emails. when i turned apple mail off and back on, my inbox was empty!! yes they're still in the gmail page, but i want them back in apple mail! and no my outbox still isn't working. actually wait, isn't apple mail supposed to automatically load all my emails when i put a new email in?

From the Apple Mail app, I can not see messages that were sent while in the web version of Gmail. To me, if I have it configured via IMAP, anything I do on my phone, I should see on my mac. Anything I do on my mac, I should see anywhere from the web app. Am I doing something wrong? Can YOU see messages you sent through the web portal, on your Apple Mail app?

I keep reading that this is necessary in Mavericks Applemail, but is it? The All Mail folder in gmail has nearly 90K messages and takes an age to load, impeding the rapid update of the current inbox.
How things can function with the show "All Mail" in IMAP turned off from the gmail side? Running both in Maverick and Yosem B2 ....

I have been unable to use Mail for over a year now due to the fact that no matter what I do it asks me for my Gmail password every two minutes. I thought I would give it a try after upgrading to Yosemite Beta and I see it is still the same situation. Hard to believe that after YEARS of this known issue there is still no fix. Mail is unusable in this state and it forces me to us ***whisper*** Outlook ***gag***.
At least on Mavericks I could use Google Chat in Messages but that functionality is broken now in Yosemite.
I have deleted every Google related item in my keychain, deleted and reinstalled the account, said really nice things to my mac and it still won't cooperate. Now when I try to add the account In Yosemite it will only connect with Contacts and Calendar and can't even make the connection with Mail, Messages or Notes.
Strange because my Google Drive sync works just fine!
If i send an email (Gmail account) to a group from my contacts on Mail it is rejected. If I copy the address' and do exactly the same thing but directly through Gmail web page, it goes through.

I'm having a new problem with Mail in Mavericks that seems to have just started around a month ago. When I have emails in the trash in Mail and choose Erase Deleted Items to empty the trash it seems to fully delete them all within the Mail app. But as I just discovered yesterday by going to the gmail website (for the first time in awhile) they are apparently not being deleted from the server. The emails are properly being moved into trash within gmail but when emptying trash in Mail they do not empty within gmail.
As I said, this is a recent problem that never happened with Mavericks Mail for me before a month ago. I just updated to 10.9.4 today and its still happening.
