OS X Mavericks :: Application Fails To Load When Clicking On File In Finder Or Attachment In Email

Aug 26, 2014

I have a problem that when selecting a file that is either an attachment in email or is in my finder, double clicking on it fails to load the associated application successfully. For example, selecting a pdf file results in the pdf reader logo appearing on the lower bar on the screen, bounces up and down as if it is doing something, but just continues to bounce. I have to force quit it, then go to my application folder to load reader directly, and from within the reader I can then go and select the file. This isn't an application specific issue (It does it with Excel, Word etc).

It only started recently. I'm using a MBP summer 2010 with Mavericks 10.9.4. Everything else seems to work.

OS X Mavericks :: Finder Takes Literal Minutes To Load File Listing When Opened

Jun 30, 2014

I updated my circa 2013 Macbook Air 13" to OSX Mavericks and a strange issue has started. Every time I open Finder it takes literal minutes to load the file listing, and while it loads it freezes the section where the file listing loads with whatever background it was opened over. This happens all the time, and once it finally loads, it will do the same thing if I try to go to a different folder. This renders Finder essentially useless and I have had to add a third party (forklift) app to browse and manage files.

OS X Mavericks :: Finder Beach Balling - Failed Setting Front Application To Finder - Error?

Jun 3, 2014

I upgraded my MacBook Pro quad core 2.5 from Lion to Mavericks. Since then I get a LOT of beachballs when I'm using Finder. I repaired permissions, deleted com.apple.finder.plist (twice) and finally reinstalled Mavericks over the first one. Still painfully slow and lots of beachballs.

OS X Mavericks :: Finder - Replace A File With Another File

Aug 21, 2014

I want a game to play my favorite song when the game is supposed to be playing its own theme song.  The theme song is in a sound file that is located on my computer's hard drive.  The theme song sound file is in the same format as the sound file that contains my favorite song, so I don't need to convert any files.  What is the easiest way to make the game think that the sound file I want the game to use is the sound file of the theme song?

But not with processes as much has hard drive related actions such as playing back saved video, loading files in the finder, especially applications, and its been temporarily freezing lately for like 10 seconds. I have also noticed unusually loud clicking noises from the hard drive, which i am pretty sure screams imminent hard drive failure. OS X :: Mail Application Attachment - Replacing Link Possible?

Dec 2, 2009

I'd like to be able to save an attachment from an email to my hard drive, and then have it replaced in the email by a link or alias that links to the file on my hard drive. Basically, so I can remove the attachment from the email and save space in my Exchange inbox allowance, but still be able to easily find the attachment from my hard drive if I need to refer back to it. I had this feature in Lotus Notes from my Windows days and it was really useful - is it possible on a Mac?

Safari :: Fails To Load Webpages?

Feb 28, 2012

Running Safari 5.1.2 (6534.52.7), OSX 10.6.8.

Okay I don't know what the deal is, but lately Safari has been having issues connecting to websites.  Randomly happens on basically every website out there.  Could be in a forum, press next to go to the next page and the balcnk page pops up unable to connect.  It's Safari that's doing it, everything else is fine.  I don't know what was pushed by Apple lately, but whatever it was, it broke Safari.  It's getting annoying to say the least.  The fact that it just randomly decides that it cannot load a page is so aggrivating.  You'd think it would be able to load a page from cache that it just was at, nooo, it claims it cannot connect to the site and you have to reset Safari, exit, and HOPE, that it will actually let you visit a site that you frequent often... like even Apple's own website.  There is something seriously wrong with it at the moment and it's getting to the point now where I will probably just stop using Safari altogether.  It's just that annoying.  How would you like to call your Mother and have the phone tell you no such number exists?  Funny, I've called it a thousand times, but the phone is now telling me it doesn't exist.  Then poof, it decides it does exist.  Then it doesn't.  Then it does.

OS X Mavericks :: Finder Window Automatically Jump To The Top When Move A File Out Of It

Jul 1, 2014

When I have a folder open, say downloads, in a list view, and I delete a file, the scroll bar will automatically jump to the top of the list. It's absolutely non-sensical. One of the most annoying things ever when your trying to organize a long list of files. Happens in 10.8.5 and in Mavericks on two separate computers. It's worse in 10.8.5 as sometimes it will glitch out and do it even when I am scrolling down the list. . Kind of thing that makes you want to switch to windows.

How do I turn this off?

OS X V10.4 :: Can't Open Email Attachment

Mar 18, 2012

Received an email attachment jpg (777 KB) which was clearly visible in the message window as well as when I opened the attachment itself -so no problem. However I needed to have some alterations made to this file (business card)I duly received two consecutive attachments, which were the alterations to my business card (the 777 KB file. These two files were now 1.3 MB and 1.4 MB in size, they appeared in the message window as large black images (nothing visible) which I was unable to open.As I did not know the problem, suggested to the sender to perhaps reduce the file size, as I was able to open the original file. The sender re-sent the re-sized file now reduced to 744 KB, similar in size to the first one, again appears as a large black image. Now we are at a stalemate, the sender says he has four computers and the images appear fine on all four
