Has anyone else noticed that if you clear your history, past sites (based on your history) still show up in Top Sites? Anyone else think this kinda blows the whole idea of "clearing your history" if you do it for privacy reasons. Anyone know how to clear out your top sites?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine is having some trouble with his younger brother erasing his history. He said it was the third time this week. He also says he doesn't really care to find out why, he just uses his history to return to sites often. Is there any way to prevent the primary user from erasing history or a way to recover deleted history? On Windows I remember a registry hack that greys out the erase history button. (He's using Safari).

I just noticed that even when I clear my history, there are certain sites that the address bar is autofilling.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I reset Safari, it will often crash if TOP SITES is the first window Safari reopens with.
The crash may also be aggravated by my attempt to type something in the search bar, right after I reset.
I have now set Safari to open with a homepage, and now I can reset Safari at will and it no longer crashes after a reset.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI found this in archives, but it did not help. I want to delete history. I have FF set to delete history after zero days, and I can "clear private data", but when I start to type in the browser window history pages appear in a drop-down. I unchecked the FF box for storing things I typed in boxes. If I go to "tools" I get > Web search, Downloads, Add on's, error console, page info, clear private data.Preferences is under "firefox" tab.I say all that cause the forums all say look under "tools" for "clear History".It's not there. There is no specific "clear history".The "clear private data" is not clearing out everything, just the stuff in the history viewer, but that is not there anyway as it stores for zero days.

Tools > Clear Private Data > Select All, only seems to delete everything back to a certain date. So when I start to type Google in the address bar, I get some stupid old Google search from a few months back. It happens with some other older sites too. What can I do to erase all my history? I'm not covering my tracks or anything, just have some annoying things pop up in the address bar that aren't relevant.

I am new to the Mac OS system and am facing a difficulty.I want to keep my macbook running through the night downloading the updates, however I want the display to be off. For this I have used apps like caffeine and no sleep and have also modified the system preferences. But still whenever I turn off my display, after some time the macbook goes to sleep and all my downloads and updates are paused.
Is there any workaround which allows me to turn off the display without letting the mac to go to sleep ??

I'm not very fond of using the integrated mail app in mavericks. However I love how I am able to compose a message simply by clicking someones email on a website. But my question is, how can I turn off incoming messages from being stored in my mailbox? I would like the app to function where there are no incoming messages or junk in the mail app. The version is a 7.3 and my mac is running on mavericks 10.9.3
