Safari not responding when deleting cache and history the app simply freezes and I get a spiral color ball turning. I need to force quite and restart the history is still there and so are the cache files I'm unable to delete them. And Safari NO LONG displays YOUTUBE VIDEOS in web sites that embed YOUTUBE VIDEOS.This is a REAL PAIN as I need to use Chrome or Firefox just to watch a YOUTUBE VIDEO.Using: iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7Memory 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MBSoftware Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50)

A friend of mine is having some trouble with his younger brother erasing his history. He said it was the third time this week. He also says he doesn't really care to find out why, he just uses his history to return to sites often. Is there any way to prevent the primary user from erasing history or a way to recover deleted history? On Windows I remember a registry hack that greys out the erase history button. (He's using Safari).

How do you delete specific search items in your (browser) form history? I don't mean a blanket "clear all", I just want to delete my typos. In Windows, you just need to scroll down to it and hit "delete". Doing that on Mac only erases a character from your search.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne thing that has always bugged me about Mac OS is that when a network share becomes unresponsive or unavailable the shortcut on the desktop disappears and you get a glaring messaging that the share has been disconnected. Is there any way to prevent a network share from being removed just because it becomes momentarily unavailable? As an example, on a Windows machine the network share shortcut remains, you simply cannot use it but it is there and ready to go the moment the share comes back online. Is there some way to make OS X behave in this manner? Or is there a way to extend the time out interval for a network share?

I have about 20 hours of low res digicam videos sitting in iphoto. When I launch Imovie, it loads all 20 hours without asking then proceeds to quit unexpectedly if I try to do anything. Is there a way to prevent iphoto from loading all of them without deleting the videos from my iPhoto library? I have about a 30 minute video I would like to edit I'm frustrated. How about removing all those clips except the ones I care about? Can I do that? (after waiting 20-30 minutes for them to load)
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would just like to know, on time machine, how do you go back in time to see your Safari history or like for example, webpages you've visited during the previous month. Please tell me where I go step by step to see this and put that history back onto the Safari browser. how to do it on Snow Leopard and do you do it the same way on Lion?

I am in china and im using a proxy to access facebook, youtube and other blocked sites. However i would like to use another browser that isn't affected by IE's internet settings because with the proxy on, browsing local websites just becomes gruelingly slow. I am using mozilla currently because there's an option to not use system proxy. Meanwhile i tried removing the proxy settings in safari not realizing the it shares the same settings with IE therefore if i remove it, it also turns off the proxy connection. i heard safari is great so if there's a work around on this then i'll definitely switch.

Is there any way to password protect my web history in Safari? In other words, I would like it if the computer required the user to enter a password in order to access the Safari browsing history.
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis is probably very simple, but how can I remove the history that resides in Safari's address bar?
I guess I could "reset Safari", but then I'd lose all my cookies, and I don't want to do that.
I already emptied the cache, cleared history, restarted Safari, even turned on Private Browsing. The darn address bar history is still there.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Safari 3.2.2 and it will not record any history. I have tried to fix it every possible way I could think off:
1. Checking if Private Browsing is on. [It wasn't]
2. Resetting Safari. [Still won't record]
3. Uninstalling and Reinstalling [No effect]
Is it possibly because of a missing file?
I gave my parents my old iMac to use so they can start browsing the web. However, every time they start to type in a web address and safari butts in with its autocomplete history, it confuses the heck out of them and they don't know what to do. So basically I want to completely disable Safari's history, or at the very least, its autocomplete feature. I've looked everywhere and can't find the option for this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt appears as though there may be some suspicious activity occurring on the family computer. Firstly, "private browsing", "reset safari" and "empty cache" all appear under the edit menu in safari. I don't recall having seen them earlier, does this mean they have been recently used or is it part of the standard menu? Also, in the internet history whilst no webpages can be found there are some obscene jpegs. Images found in the internet history, have they been deliberately viewed or is it possible that they find their way there behind the scenes?
