Feb 7, 2012 my mouse arrow cursor changes at will - it becomes an ibeam or a hand (like the one used when pointing to a link) and then will switch back to an arrow. I use a Logitech wireless mouse with plugged in USB receiver. I turn the mouse off whenever I stop work. I changed the batteries on the Logitech mouse yesterday and it had no effect. I tried using the Magic Mouse (which I love, but which has problems of its own - it eats batteries for breakfast and it's not consistently recognized when I wake up the iMac and I have to resort to the Logitech mouse to get going so I rarely use it) to see if it did the same thing and it does. I am still running 10.6.6 and haven't added any software or done anything strange. I did update Firefox to 9.0.1 a while back, but things were fine a long time after I did that.

Jun 24, 2012I am having problems with my cursor on my macbook. Since a recent software update I've not been able to move the cursor in any app. The only way it moves is when I type. I use the arrow-keys to quickly move around menus but that is impossible. I have looked at all the settings I can think of looking at, but nothing makes any difference. Helen BTW the OS is 10.6.8

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Arrow Cursor Pointer Jumps And Teleports Across Screen Every Second
Mar 13, 2012my iMac has this glitch, the cursor jumps or teleports across screen every second. I move it and then it jumps again, always jumps to the same place, same exact pixel everytime. I try to move the cursor quickly (to open safary or hit stand by) but no matter where the pointer is across the 27" screen, it teleports like a clock.
I changed batteries on the trackpad and magic mouse and it didn't work. I turned mouse off, left trackpad on and it didn't work. I tried using a wired mouse and it didn't work. this is obviously not related to the input device.
I would like to restore the input driver with time-machine but I have no idea where the drivers reside in the machine. I also have no idea how to roll-back or reinstall such drivers on a Mac.
this is not the jittery, erratic, jumpy bug. When this glitch is triggered and I have absolutely no clue how or why, sometimes it starts 1 minute after reboot, sometimes 30 minutes; when it is triggered it starts to teleport every second, the arrow jumps to the same spot. it's unbearable since it renders the machine useless. I have to press the power button to send it to sleep, resume and then the glitch is gone, only to come back 5 or 30 minutes afterwards.
Finally, this thing happened last year in november. I wasn't able to solve it back then so I had to reinstall the whole OS Lion, that meant waiting 6 hours for it to download from the appStore (because Apple doesn't allow me to keep a copy LION on my system). I think that's plain silly since it's obviously a very mundane (but annoying) glitch and there's got to be a workarround that doesn't require system restore.

Jun 4, 2014You move the mouse over to the scroll bar, favorites bar, minimize, etc... and the mouse is stuck in the wrong icon, be it the text pointer, hand pointer, window resize pointer... when it should be the arrow. It is such an obvious bug and I can't believe Apple hasn't noticed this.

Aug 26, 2014I am new to the Mac OS system and am facing a difficulty.I want to keep my macbook running through the night downloading the updates, however I want the display to be off. For this I have used apps like caffeine and no sleep and have also modified the system preferences. But still whenever I turn off my display, after some time the macbook goes to sleep and all my downloads and updates are paused.
Is there any workaround which allows me to turn off the display without letting the mac to go to sleep ??

Jun 2, 2014I know that Mavericks is very aggressive when it comes to saving power,To transfer files from an old win7 laptop to a brand new MacBook Air, I set up file sharing on the MBA, and shared a folder over SMB. I then proceed to log on from the win7 machine, and start copying files, but as soon as the MBA's display dims (at which time I assume Mavericks sleeps) the file transfer is halted. Other than permanently setting the MBA to "always awake", is there a way of preventing it from sleeping when external file transfers are taking place?

When opening, changing and saving JPGs in Photoshop Elements 6, the thumbnail disappears and only a generic JPG icon shows. This happens randomly. I read that PSE6 is OK on Mavericks. I don't see the problem with GIMP or Lightzone, but I would like to be able to use PSE. Second, my mouse cursor randomly disappears from the screen from time to time.

Sep 8, 2014I need to copy a set of email addresses and paste them into a spreadsheet for uploading. Using Mail's copy function I get the result "mailto: (address)". If I just copy that as an address Mail doesn't recognize it as a valid address. Is there a way around this?

I've tried re-installing snow leopard (by holding 'c' at start up) but it has not removed the account. I am unable to change any settings on the mac at present because I require the admin password. Does anyone know how to remove the admin account and take the mac back to factory settings?

Dec 3, 2009Only noticed this problem recently when I was using the computer in bright daylight last weekend. My i5 27" iMac has an annoying hand print right in the centre of the INSIDE of the glass. Obviously this has come from the manufacturer handling the glass incorrectly during installation. From day to day use I do not notice this because I use the computer at night with low-lighting, and the majority of the time my blinds/curtains are closed.Regardless, this is my first Mac, I have saved up long and hard for this machine. I am disappointed that such an error could occur. I paid �1760 for this computer which is a lot of money for me, and at that price you expect near perfection. I don't think I will ask for a new machine because I can't do without my Mac, is there an easy way to fix the screen problem, and if so, will it void my warranty?
