I operate with two screens (MacBook Pro) and generally want the dock at the base of my larger plug-in screen. This works fine except that occasionally, just with mouse movement, it will flip to the base of the smaller machine screen. It can be put back by opening System Prefs/dock and selecting 'right' followed by 'bottom' - but still, it would be nice to know why this happens and if there is an easy way to stop it?

(I'm typing this on another computer) I've tried opening various system preferences, and choosing default settings wherever possible. Sometimes it flips back and forth rapidly between the weird symbols and english... almost like there's a short circuit or something. My Wacom tablet works fine...
View 5 Replies View RelatedOpening CC2014 Photoshop files keeps throwing up error screens warning of a 'strtable error'.
Having just moved to the new MBP and at the same time upgrading to CC2014 means I'm not even clear on whether the file issue is an Adobe or Apple message.
Clicking 'OK' on the warning screen allows the file to open seemingly without problems, but it obviously doesn't promote a relaxed attitude to file integrity.
I've read suggestions that the issue is related to files having the wrong extension, but that's not the case here. Some of the files are legacy files from CS Photoshop; but many are created in the last few days by the same CC2014 PS app that's trying to open them.

The screen was the one reason I went with the MBA.
Yesterday, while mousing around my iMac desktop, I accidentally deleted an app from my dock. It disappeared before I could see which app it was. TimeMachine, or any other way -- for me to determine which app I deleted? I looked at a TimeMachine backup, but couldn't find any way to view the dock in the backup.

I can't drag files out of stacks (Downloads or Application folders) or app icons off my dock. I reset my SMC when I rebooted and it worked but then I reboot the next day (today) and it won't work anymore. Do I really have to reset SMC every time I boot up? I recently downgraded from Yosemite because it is incomplete and full of bugs and now I have this issue.

I've been searching for a keystroke to restore an application or a window of an application that I've minimized (Command-M) to the Dock. My search has not been successful.
With some applications Command-1 will work, but not often.
I'm wondering if there is a standard key combination to do this. If not, I know I can create a user keyboard shortcut, but I don't know how to create the black diamond character or if that would even work.

I have 2 monitors on my computers - 2 Mac Pros (2011) and an iMac. All are running 10.10.1. I have one monitor in each case that is the "home" monitor - with the dock and files on the desktop. All 3 of my computers keep switching the Dock to the other monitor. Once switched, the Dock stays on the other monitor until I use system preferences to change the arrangement. Sometimes, after downloading an app from the Mac App Store, the progress bar keeps saying it's almost downloaded but not finished. The only workaround I know is restarting the computer. The icon remains this way:

I have a download folder on my dock and also on my desktop. When I click it open there is nothing there. However, when I go over to the left hand sidebar of Finder and I click on the Downloads (down arrow) label it brings up all my downloads. I used to have a spring loaded icon on my dock ... now its just empty unless I press the Downloads (down arrow) label in Finder. when I switch users on my mid 2007 iMac (with Mavericks 10.9.3), the background pictures resizes and the dock doesnt load. I've noted also that switching applications via command+tab doesn't show the icons of the applications, and when accessing "Notifications", it doesnt draw correctly on the screen (the area of the notifications center appears on the right of the screen, but an extension of the notifications is also drawn under hte desktops icons).

It is not something on the desktop as I have moved the dock and can't see it, so it is definitely connected with the Application icon. I have deleted all downloads which could have been half done and I have removed an Alias I had in the Application folder. Now all the Applications appears as "Applications" in the "Kind" column when viewing in Finder.

I run Microsoft OneNote side by side with some mac Apps and often find my self switching between the apps using Leopard spaces on my MBA which is annoying. I want to be able set an external LCD and assign that solely to OneNote, and simultaneously be able to access my OSX apps on my MBA's LCD. So each OS platform has its own window.
