My finder is not working in the dock with one click have to click and then go to find just started to do this also safari stopped and I quit safari and it started to work again.
I restarted my computer several times no difference.

Since the update i can minimize other apps by double clicking the toolbar of the app - camino, littlesnapper, speedownload .... but not finder or safari - why? anyone else? it used to work fine....
I accidentally ran a command twice for the "Remove from Dock" thing to pop up for finder. I have already tried the plist thing, and it did not work, because I ran it twice. How can I reset it and the dock???

I would prefer not to scroll down to find that option and click on it. Is there any way for my docs folder to automatically open in the finder when located in the dock?

This is a big roadblock to our office workflow. Reindexing doesn't fix the issue and we can see clearly that the files we are searching for are there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedToday I tried to change the finder icon in the dock. Because I'm cheap, I dont have candybar, so I tried to use liteicon. While this changed the finder icon in messages like "do you want to empty trash," it did not change it on the dock, even after logging out and relaunching the dock.
So I went into a bunch of core services and replaced all the finder .icns and .pngs with the one I wanted to use.When I relaunched the dock, the finder was invisible, but it still had the little blue "open" dot below where it was.I downloaded the candybar trial to try to fix it, but even candybar didn't get the icon back.
I'm using 10.5.8. Where are all the places the finder icon should be to show up?

View 7 Replies View RelatedToday the OS X dock on my late '08 MacBook Pro 15" stop working like normal. It used to be, when an App was open, the icon would appear in the dock with a sort of highlight.
Now, the apps run fine but no longer appear in the dock. If I minimize it, it does show as a running app in the left hand side, but that isn't what I want it to do. Is there a quick way to get it to work again?
I upgraded my MacBook Pro quad core 2.5 from Lion to Mavericks. Since then I get a LOT of beachballs when I'm using Finder. I repaired permissions, deleted com.apple.finder.plist (twice) and finally reinstalled Mavericks over the first one. Still painfully slow and lots of beachballs.

I lost my icon of my Finder in my Dock, the icon seem to be fine for the Finder.app and permission too.

I've recently logged on to my mac to find that my 'Finder' icon is missing from the dock.
It is still running, still clickable, with the 'running' light below showing.
I've been an Apple faithful for four years now, and I just got a brand new Mac Pro for a graduation present. I've been tinkering with icons, so I can get them just the way I want them, and some form of glitch occurred, and my dock, though having a light and open space to show that Finder is running, shows no icon. It's really confusing me, and I've tried opening up Candybar to see if I can restore it to normal there, and it doesn't even show up in the menu where it used to! I need some help...I've already tried the usual log out/in, unplug...I just need to get this resolved.

I have had my MacBook Pro for 1 day and I see this glitchy icon in my dock:
The current behavior of the Finder icon in the dock first brings Finder windows currently open into focus. I often wish I could click the Finder icon, and have a new window open. However if each time it was clicked, it brought current windows to focus, but then also created a new window, this would be annoying. So how about this:
If the Finder isn't in focus, one click will bring it into focus. The next click, assuming now that the Finder is focused, creates a new Finder window. Also, it could even be conceived that a double click of the Finder icon, when out of focus, would both bring current windows to focus, and then create a new window directly.
Was wondering can the Finder icon be moved around in the dock? I'd like to be able to move it, instead of having it on the left hand side of the dock.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using CandyBar to change the icons, and the Dashboard icon is changed under both System and Applications. In Finder it looks like the one I want to change it to, but when I move it into the Dock it just looks like the default icon. The same thing happens with the Finder icon. Any ideas? Oh and to change the iCal icon, is there any way to change the way the icon looks when you have iCal running? It just looks weird to have it look one way when it's closed and change back to the default when it's open.
View 6 Replies View Related I don't really know how to describe this or even search for it. (I tried the best I know how) The only thing I can do is show a picture. I don't have any idea how this happened or how to fix it. The real Finder icon in the left of the dock does not have the light underneath indiciating that it is running, but there is a generic app icon that is actually the finder and has the normal Finder context menu when I right click it. This icon behaves just like any regular app and I can even right click and quit it. Anyone have any ideas what caused this and how to fix it short of reinstalling Mac OS X? BTW I'm using a 13" Alu MacBook running 10.5.7.
Is there a way to put a folder in the Dock so that it just opens Finder instead of a stack? OS X won't let me drag it to the left side, nor can I find a option to make folders on the right open in Finder by default. I'm running Snow Leopard.

Is there a way to set the dock Icon to automatically open a New Finder Window?
On the dock, to the far right you can have applications, downloads, etc list of folder. What I would like to do is modify the default behavior for these icons only so that they open on hover rather than click. I want to do this because I have them setup as list style, and I can very quickly browse to whatever folder I need from there. If you open a folder in column view, you can hold down ALT and resize all the columns at the same time. This will also change column size for ALL folders in the system immedietly. Is there such a shortcut where I can also change the size of the finder window for ALL finder windows? Some finder windows open as tiny little thing, and I woudl prefer a nice large default window. I know you can do each one separately and close it but who wants to do that for every folder?

When I tried to change the Finder icon, (used copy paste of the new icon to the Finder in system/library/core services/finder) it worked for the icon (in the folder) but will not change in the dock. I have relaunched the Finder, restarted, logged in and out. The new icon appears changed both in the core services and also in Finder contents folder, (Finder icns.) but the Dock icon remains the same.
