OS X Mavericks :: Change A Right Click From Highlighting Text?
Jun 17, 2014
Lets say I'm writing a search into text field on google. I then want add some previously written text from elsewhere. So I find the text and highligh it and copy. Then I return to google, right click to paste and then the previous text in the google text field is highlighted.h
I'm in the middle of revision for exams and I'd like to be able to highlight certain portions of text in pages documents. Bold won't do, nor underline (they already have purposes). Can I highlight in Pages (say set a yellow text backgrond as I don't want to do print runs on my notes until I have to (and have reduced them down as much as possible).
I have noticed lately that as I am typing, the words will highlight and erase randomly. It makes it very hard and annoying to type when none of the words will stay. Do you know what the problem could be? This has never happened before to me.
So I am running Firefox version 3.0.8 and when I go to highlight anything with my mouse (Like moving from left to right while holding down the button on my trackpad which should highlight the text) it highlights, but the whole window for Mozilla Firefox moves too, even if I have the text box in use, it does happen with other programs.
In safari for macbook pro, I can't seem to highlight text while scrolling down through to the end of a page. (Start at the top, click, hold, drag down). The highlighting stops at the bottom of what I see on the screen and can't go past to the bottom of the page. However, it works going upwards (start at the bottom, click, hold, drag up. I don't think it's a problem with the computer because, the highlighting works with all my other programs. It's just safari that's not doing it. I'm aware of the hold shift and click method, but I'm just used to the other way.
For a while I can highlight text and mark, etc but after I save the PDF it sometimes no longer allows me to highlight any text, even text I have already highlighted..
I would like to change the pronunciation of specific words that my mac reads to me, however, there does not seem to be a way to do this. Tutorials online discuss changing a setting in the VoiceOver Utility, but unfortunately this only effects voice over and not text-to-speech.
The other thing is this light brown highlighting that jumps all over the place. Along with the twitcy mouse, it too appears suddenly, browning sometimes a whole page.Â
in my calendar, I have a list of 'categories' with different coloring but I am wanting to remove the colors/highlighting but can't find how to do that.
My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?
I used to be able to click then while holding down my finger highlight an area of text to either copy and paste or to search. Not any more! Also my trackpad will not allow me to click hold and move things. I do not want to have to use a mouse.
I write reports and I use office for mac because at work I need to read the reports I write at home with macbook. I use tables on microsoft word that are connected to excel. When I click on them the excel opens to may introduce formulas and text. If I close excel the table I modified on excell lays on word with the rest of the text of the report. My doubt is when I add cells to the table on excel....I can't visualize them on word...
I have installed a software called appdelete but then decided to uninstall it. I did it in traditional ways but some configurations are still staying the same.
No i do not have appdelete in my comp but when i right click a file i always see AppDelete button and that is annoying.
How can i get rid off appdelete button in right click context menu ?
I would like to find a way or an app that would allow me to change the input AND output sound device with one click. I realize you can to ALT-Sound icon, but you have to individually choose the input and output.Â
The idea is this:Â when I switch to a USB headphone with mic, and would always want both the input and output to be the headset.Â

well i guess like most people i like to customize my mac. so i was wondering how i could change the color of my menu bar to black and have the text (the apple and the file, edit ect) to white. i have custom icons and docks but this has eluded me. i have tried to change the bar to transparent and have the wallpaper behind it be the color i want but that doesn't help change the color of the text and i doubt its the best solution.
I am new to apple, just purchased an iMac off craigslist, and have a personalization question. I was able to change the user name and all that info just fine but when my computer first turns on and I am prompted to log in the previous owner has a text below the apple icon that I would like to change. Right now it says "Daves ********** iMac" well my name is not Dave and I don't care to have that on there every time i go to log in. I have done a lot of searching and found where I can "change login text" but that is for one of the texts, not the one I am trying to figure out.. here is a sample picture, the text I have circled in red is the text I am trying to change, the text saying macbook pro is the only text I have successfully changed. (This is just a picture I got off the inter-web, not my actual login)
If I click on a icon then i have to wait several seconds until i can klick again to rename (that takes also several seconds until i can rename it) it or something else. since some days my trackpad always wants to open the file if i click on it. the other mysterious thing is, when I plug in an usb-mouse (not magic mouse) and click on a link in the safari app with the middle-button of the mouse, my macbook air opens the link in a new tab twice, instead of one single time. if there somewhere is an option to reset all the option of the input devices?Â
Its possible to set up a keyboard shortcut for iwork that will change the color of my text as I'm typing? I had a setup back on windows office using macros that worked quite well but going back to office is obviously not an option.
Example: If my track pad hovers over the SEND button in e-mail, it sends it without me clicking. Or the TRASH CAN, it deletes it. How do I make this a manual process, requiring a click?
I am having problems with booting my wife's 2010 iMac. It never boots completely. I gets to a point where the screen flashes over and over a message something about opening (or not) windows which were open when I shut down.Â
When I hold the OPTION key at startup I get the 'option' to start up with my system hard drive or Recovery 10.9.1.
What happens if I click on Recovery 10.9.1?Â

I'm running into a odd issue in "preview." I'm currently looking at a long PDF document and I frequently use the "search" function to pinpoint specific sections of the doc. However, I noticed that the "search" function does not highlight (or find) any section that's highlighted in grey within the document. Does anyone know what I'm referring to and has anyone else run into this issue? I cannot find a setting for this. If anyone has any idea how to remedy this issue, please post the solution.
I've just bought an apple mouse, and although I've gone into preferences and set the right hand side as 'secondary button', it does not right click. I'm using it with a MacBook Pro with OSX Mavericks 10.9.4.Â
How so I make it so text in text boxes runs in the traditional chinese style. Characters in text boxes should run down the page instead of across the page.
