How so I make it so text in text boxes runs in the traditional chinese style. Characters in text boxes should run down the page instead of across the page.

In Safari, I save the webpage as PDF. Then, in Acrobat X or Preview, I copy the text and Paste into other programe, like word ,etc,So,the Chinese text can't display.

My co-workers use Chinese Windows on their PC and when they send me a document, my Mac interprets some Chinese characters as garbled. If I copy that garbled text and place it in Chinese Windows, it can be read fine.
Is there some kind of setting I can change or software I can install on my Mac so I can read all Chinese characters perfectly?
I have a wacom tablet connected to my Mac and I can use the Ink application to write English characters.
Is there a way to write Chinese characters on the Mac?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know I can input Chinese characters on a SL MBP, however I am too lazy to upgrade my MBP to Snow Leopard, well I just don't see the need to. The Mac Pro is my main computer, and I would love to be able to write Chinese characters with my Intuos4. Since SL has chinese hand input built it, is there anyway I can get it to work with the tablet? Or must I buy a program like Penpower?
I am fluent in Cantonese, and 50% of Mandarin, I cannot write anymore because I grew up in the States, but I can still write characters if I have the actual word right in front of me, which will be useful for when I edit minor documents with Chinese text.
I'm on a 13" MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.9.4. I have activated [Pinyin - Simplified] in my input sources, and I have activated the option for TrackPad handwriting. Typing the pinyin and choosing the right character works fine, but I haven't been able to input chinese characters into any document via the trackpad writing method. I am able to pull up the "slate" thing, write, and choose a character, but the character just doesn't show up in the application. I've tried it with TextEdit, Word, and Safari.

When replacing pre-populated (untitled folder) or selected text in Finder, Safari, etc. a special character is added about 1/3 of the time. You can't see it in Finder, but it does show in file names viewed in Terminal, in URLs (only after you hit enter and Safari gets confused) in the file name at the top of certain apps, or on PCs.

I am trying to use OpenOffice and LibreOffice for word processing, but after I write with diacritics/romanian characters and save the text, when I open the document again the diacritics dissapear. In LibreOffice the diacritics become empty space and in OpenOffice I get ? instead of them.

Using a new macbook pro and can't find a way to change the font style for folders displayed on the desktop. Running Lion. The font for folders on the desktop currently uses a shadow effect and it's hard to read.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had just installed a new router, a Belkin F6D4230-4, and whenever my sister and I, both MacBook users, attempt to go on certain websites, the page style becomes extremely complicated and ugly to work with, with most pictures not loading. I had tried this with both Safari 4 and Firefox 3.5, but I can't figure out what the problem is and what I have to do to fix it. Here is a photo of what my websites generally look like:

I'm pretty sure it's not my browser's settings, because both of my browsers are on their defaults, but I could definitely be wrong.
I have bought a macbook pro in the late 2009.. and its sudden motion sensor is repositioned (in version 5.3) and it works in the other way around.. when i try with programs that use the sensor to make sth.. like when you move right, the things going upwards.. and when you move in the y direction things are moving in the x direction..
So has anybody have this problem?
And i have been reading articles about new version Smackbooks which works with this version but nothing was helpful so far..

I am writing my thesis in Pages 08. I need to have a TOC for all my headlines and I am using the TOC function for that. The problem is that I also want a figure list that updates automatically, TOC style. I can't find ant function for a figure list so I tried to give the figure text a different paragraph style then the regular headlines and then simply add a second TOC showing only that style. Unfortunately that did not work either since Pages only seem to allow one TOC per document.

I have been working on a template where I have placed a two column table on the front page, left side being for a graphic for a letterhead, and right side column for text.
My problem is that on the second page, I would like the document to continue on without any table. I would like for the text to flow from the table into regular margin document on the second page. Is there a way to do this?
Problem Description:
1. System prints PDF files very slowly, about 50 seconds per page, a text only page. Sometimes will just continue sending data to printer as indicated by flashing green light on printer – does not stop sending and printer does not print. Problem also present when try to print PDF files as sent by others over internet (eg TD Bank statements).
2. Unable to cause double sided printing using IMac – no problem with PC.
Trouble shooting:Took the same one page text only file that was very slow in IMac, transferred to PC using a memory stick – connected printer to PC using same USB cable – page starts printing in about 1 seconds – no problems.No difficulty in printing Word files other than no double sided. Think the problems started with OSX Yosemite upgrade and the companion Safari upgrade. Auto update for software is on and no new updates. Old drivers removed and new one installed Tried Apple internet chat to resolve problem – was unable – the user forum indicates others have had difficulties with printing PDF files.

Here's a strange one for you. Sometimes when I visit websites (with Firefox 3.0 or 3.5), certain characters are replaced with strange symbols or white question marks on black background.
Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Is there any way to start page numbering on page 2? Reason is my first page is my cover page. I have the "First page is different" checked under the Layout Inspector, but page 2 is still numbered as page 2.
