Similar to those album booklets you get with iTunes, is there a easy way to do it in OS X on putting together an album booklet pdf? I am creating a promotional item for my website I am getting around to build and thought it would be a cool idea.

The first time this happened was with Placebo's Angkor Wat LP now I will not download any more from iTunes till this is sorted as very annoyed with the situation and so far have had no joy as to what the problem is or the solution.I will order from HMV online and get the psychical format instead.

Please accept my apologies if I'm posting in the wrong section . I've been using the fantastic Create Booklet PDF Service (workflow) by Christoph Vogelbusch (his page is on .mac, so it just went bye-bye). I'd like to turn this worklfow into a folder action so that when a file is added to the folder, a pdf booklet is created automatically. In particular, I'm interested in doing this in Microsoft Word. Can anyone tell me if this is even possible, and if so, either point me in the right direction (or, at least, to the best Automator community where I might repost this request)?

My 2006 iMac died a couple of months ago and I got a 13" MBP for Christmas. Yesterday I was working on installing everything on it and started to install FCE, which yes I did buy perfectly legally ;-)
Anyway I seem to have misplaced the booklet with the serial number on it so I can't complete the install. If I call Apple support will they be able to give me another serial? I'd hate to think I've wasted $200 just because I lost a $.50 booklet that came with it. I have a full backup of my iMac on an external drive so I don't know if maybe there is a library file or something that I could use to recover my password? I just thought I'd pose the question here before calling them because I'm sure their hold times are crazy this time of year.
Since about the 3rd day after I got my macbook pro the computer has been making cracking sounds when I open it. When it first started it just simply made one clicking sound when the hinge is halfway open. Now however, When it is open it makes cracking sounds that don't stop ( open 15 cracking sounds per open). Is this a serious issue that I need to address with my local (and very mean) genius or is this issue not going to continue to get progressively worse. If this does continue to get worse will the hinge crack open? what is this worst that could happen?
View 11 Replies View RelatedMy bluetooth mouse ran out of battery and I was trying to do some keyboard only navigation. Somehow I turned on an option that places a totally annoying black box or rectangle around whatever item is active and has focus. This could be an icon in the finder or text in a warning box.
I tried to take a screenshot for clarity, but the act of taking the screenshot seems to move the box before the shot is taken.
Any idea how I can undo this?!? I'm thinking it's a Universal Access item, but I can't find any setting that changes it. I'm running Tiger with latest updates.
I put a lot of things in the trash which I didn't mean to. I have not emptied the trash. How can I restore them to exactly the folders they all came from? On Windows, there is an option "Restore" which does this.

"The operation can't be completed because the item is in use."I have set all permissions of that file to Read & Write but still can't empty.I also tried to rename file, move to another folder etc, but without success.
so after freezing and freezing i finally logged in my computer. i just noiced there is something in my trash. its a folder titled Database.
and inside the folder it says Database.sqlite3.
WTF is this? im thinking its something to do with sql or something right? but i dont have any apps like that.what is this?
I am trying to drag an item to move it into another folder in the same finder window, but it disappears after 1 second. It is the same way I have always did it, I click on it & can drag across the whole screen from window to window, but now it just disappears. And if I am not close to my destination, it will just move to whatever folder I am over at the time w/o me letting go of the mouse.

I've tried going into Terminal and using rmdir and dragging the folder I want deleted to Terminal, but it says the folder is not empty, and doesn't delete it. Using rm and dragging deletes other than folders, but how to do this for folders escapes me (unless I go and delete all the contents, which would be a PITA).

If it were an iMac or MacBook related item, no problem� but the Mac Pro isn't as popular a product, so finding someone interested seems like it might be more difficult.
I used to have a Macbook, but after two years the hard drive crash, I now have a pro. After getting the files that I needed back I went into my external hard drive that my old macbook backed up onto and tried to delete all of the old back ups so I could make room for my new computer to use. After deleting it one file is left in my trash can. It is an old back up from August and the file name ends with .inProgress.
I assume that I must have disconnected my computer or something while it was backing up, but now when I try to clear the trash it says "The operation can't be completed because the item "AGQ0qILU99QsKv" is in use." I have no idea what that item is, where it is because it doesnt show in the trash, or how to get rid of it. I have tried to secure empty trash and use a few terminal commands but nothing is working. Also it wont let me remove it from the trash. It just copies the file rather than moving it out.
The other day I downloaded some apps off the net as I had to reinstall them as I had to reinstall Snow Leopard. I downloaded the programs and in my Applications folder one of the apps was just an empty space with no name. I knew something was there cause I could click on it, highlight it, and move it. I dragged it to my trash but it ended up on my desktop. Now I can't get rid of it! I can only highlight it, but not move it or right click to delete it! I don't know exactly what it is. Its not causing any problems. Its just bugging me cause its there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedUnlike many other issues involving the inability to trash, or to keep an item from re-appearing, my iMac had just developed a quirk that is concerning. As with my Macbook pro, I have always been able to drag an item(s) to the trash, and until I empty the trash - to see those items and even drag them out. Now I still can do that with the Macbook, but not the iMac. As soon as I drop an item in, I get a msg asking me if I want to delete this item, as it will be unrecoverable.
Sure enough, drop drag and drop it into the trash and it disappears - permanently, no sign of it at all in the trash. No, the box is not ticked in the Finder preferences, to Empty Trash Securely. I do back-up, but only at the end of the day, and dropped a music file into the trash accidentally, thinking it was an unwanted copy - and it was very much wanted. That's when I discovered this new quirk. Why is this so? iMac - 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 duo; 4GB SDRAM; running 10.6.4. I am running 10.6./4 on the Macbook pro as well.
Is there a way to delete an item from my downloads folder that is in my dock without dragging it to the trash? Is there a way to get a context menu on items in the downloads folder?

View 24 Replies View RelatedI just installed Skype and noticed that it starts up when I log into my Mac. Fair enough: for the time being I don't want this, so I entered the Accounts control panel, then Login items where I ticked the "Hide" box next to where Skype was listed. But Skype still starts up when I log into/power up my Mac. What gives? I thought "hide" meant the same thing as "disable" during login, but apparently not. I know I can remove Skype from the Login items list, but since I sometimes want it to automatically start when I power up my Mac that would be a bit cumbersome.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought me a brand new iMac. I freaking love this thing, don't know why I didn't make the jump (back) sooner. Anywho, I have two external hard drives in which I used to transfer data, including some pictures and audio from my Windows Vista computer to the new Mac. I go ahead and finish transferring over the files. When I go to delete the files off my external hard drive, I am met with a "the item (insert file name here) can't be moved to the trash because it can't be deleted". Now, I notice that this happens with ANY file or folder that I attempt to move to the trash can from either of my external hard drives. I can't seem to find a solutions anywhere either via a Google search or on this forum.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm running a Unibody MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.3. I'm having issues with dragging - specifically, releasing from drag. I can start dragging fine, but once I start the mouse pointer won't let go, even if I release the button, and nothing will cause the pointer to drop the item being dragged save killing the application I was dragging from. It's especially infuriating when dragging items around on the Dock, because when you're dragging a Dock icon you can't select items with the mouse, and earlier today I had to use a series of keyboard shortcuts to get to the terminal to kill it.) A restart will usually fix this, but it inevitably pops up again. It happens with both my Mac's trackpad and my Magic Mouse, so it might not be a hardware issue but I'm not sure. I previously used JiTouch for additional gestures, but I don't think it's the cause as the issue crops up even when JiTouch is completely disabled + uninstalled.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI didn't use the migration assistant, since I wanted to change some key things. What I did do, was copy some old folders from my old mac to my new mac. Oddly enough, during this change, the permissions on these files got locked. Now, since I'm logged in as admin, I can unlock these files and change the permissions, but there's a lot of items and subfolders within this one folder, that I've had to change them all one by one so far. Is there a way, either through finder, or through the terminal that I can just change every item within the one folder at the same time
