iMac Processor 1.83 GH Intel Core Duo
I recently bought a 1GB RAM card from apple, I took out the 512KB card from Bank 1, and put in the 1GB. I then put the old card into Bank 0, but the computer wont recognize the memory in bank 0. I can get either card to work in bank 1 but neither in bank 0 . Is there some trick to activate bank 0?
I'm now on my third Ebay bargain buy that won't actually work, (admittedly this last one was my mistake when I bought a PCIx in error).
So, has anyone actually found a PCI SATA card with internal ports that actually works with OSX, I'm using it on a G4 MDD, dual 1.25�

I simply can't take any of my pictures off of my SD card. I've tried using the USB cable that came with the camera itself, as well as a USB card reader. iPhoto, and the laptop itself does not recognize the card, or that there is any device mounted at all. I've also tried checking "External Disks" in Finder Preferences, didn't seem to work.

So I have had my 27" i7 (July 2010) for about a month. On initial install the RAM showed 12gb (which is correct). I had the stock 4 GB and then added 2 4GB chips from OWC. They displayed correctly.
Now, suddenly am showing 6GB. Bank 0 DIMM 0 empty, Bank 1/DIMM 1 2gb, Bank 0 Dimm 1 Empty, Bank 1 Dimm 1 4gb.
Reseat all and try again? Seems an odd failure. Bank 0 give up the ghost? Just seems really odd both factory and add in ram suddenly failed...

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just got a new MacPro (running Leopard) and I'm trying to get Windows XP to work via Bootcamp.
I used the Bootcamp Assistant to create the partition, then install XP, and then from XP install the various drivers from the Leopard Install CD. But XP doesn't think there is a wireless card in the Mac, which makes me think it is a driver issue.
I have some footage (avchd ) on my SD card. I've read that iMovie 09 should import this direct from the card when inserted in my MBP. But, it always defaults to the isight camera and i cant select any other camera type from the check box in the bottom left of the menu? Can anyone please assist?

SD cards do not mount, and it looks like the computer is not recognizing the SD card reader at all (When I check About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> USB, the card reader does not show up). I've never had a problem before, in the ~3 years I've had this Macbook. I'm running Maverick.

An SD memory card 32GB that used work well, when inserted into the MacBook Pro reader slot is no longer being recognized by the computer at all:
it is not visible in Finder or Image Capture or iPhoto, now nothing/nada/zip…
I am away from home, travelling - not anywhere near an Apple store/Apple Genius or even my old external card reader or a camera wire - so can not try these either!

For about a week now every time I try to upload a card in the normal way aperture only sees a small portion of the images. the number varies and I can stop the import and start it over and a different number of images may be selected.
Also, those images selected for import are in a random order on the screen. To make things work I'm uploading the images to a HD then importing them from the HD into aperture in the normal way and everything seems to work fine. Multiple cards used so it's not the card. Even tried a different reader. Using Yosemite and Ap. 3.6

I try to connect my soundcard motu 896 MK3 to the firewire plug and my computer doesn't recognize it. When i check on the apple menu/about this mac/more info/firewire it says that it can't figure out what hardware is connected. If i plugg another device through the same firewire plugg then it works.

How certain are we that (physical?) interference between the airport card/wifi and the graphics card can be cured with a download, and not actual hardware fix/repair? I mean, I know technology is advancing rapidly, but I'm not sure I can believe that a download can solve the issue that the 4850s are experiencing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've had a pleasant experience with my imac so far, and it read my SD card fine at first. For some reason I put my SD in the SD card reader and copied the pictures from it. I take it out and put it back in my camera. "The SD card cannot be formatted. It may be defective." Really? I put it back in my iMac. It doesn't mount. I check Finder and Disk Utility. Ya, it's nowhere. I put my other SD card in my iMac. Same issue. Now my camera won't read that one either. I put them in my sister's $300 netbook running Windows 7 Starter. Funny! It reads them! However, my camera still doesn't and my imac still doesn't. I try formatting them. No go. I've tried every format I can. They are just dead. Useless. My sister's computer can read them, and even format them, but something in that stupid iMac made my SD cards defective. I can buy new ones, but should I have to? I can't even see if they'll work through the camera while connected via USB because the camera won't even read them. I bought a Mac to avoid ridiculous problems like this. Was I wrong? Is it just a ticking time bomb like every other computer on the market? Should I immediately go buy a backup drive? If it's doing crazy stuff like this out of the blue, how can I trust it not to randomly crash? I think I overestimated Apple's competence. This should never happen. It actually made my SD cards defective.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSometimes when i put a disc in the imac it won't recognize it. When it does this I can't eject it or anything. I have to restart the machine. It does this on cdr's, dvd's or install discs. What causes this? Everything else is perfect so I hesitate to take it in.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have the most recent version of iMac 24" with a partition in the HDD to use Windows with parallels. I'm sure that the hard disk is almost full (about 3/4) but today, all the devices (mouse, printer, mac keyboard, external hard disk) are not recognized in the computer.
I was trying to startup the computer in SAFE MODE but once again, the keyboard is not recognized. I can't do nothing! Inclusive, I am available to apply a FACTORY RESTORE but when the disk 1 is inserted into the computer, I need to hit or double click the icon to run.
I got my new imac running leopard few months ago. I was using my WD 500GB external HDD as my backup disk for time machine etc and was working great till a few days ago. Now,when I connect(with firewire 800)- it does seem to start up but does not appear on the desk top.This happens with the USB connection as well.I first noticed the problem when time machine icon(clock) just kept rotating as if backing up,but it just kept going. this happened several times,so I restarted the imac,plugged/unplugged the WD without any joy. Now it does not even recognise it or appear on the desktop. I have checked all connections etc and all seem ok. I connected the WD to my ibook running 'panther-10.3' and it recognises it(via usb),so I presume the WD is working. The imac recognises another external HDD and appears on the desktop. Not sure what to do next,not really keen on trying a complete new reinstall just yet,and that may not even solve my problem. Otherwise the imac seems to be working all right without the WD connected to it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo my dad decided to upgrade the ram on his Powerbook G4 to 2GB. Initially everything went smoothly and the ram was detected and working. Within a week though, the computer only recognized 1 of the memory slots. Switching the ram cards around proved that the ram itself was fine but that the one memory bank was not working. Is this at all a common problem with the Powerbook G4? Our concern is that a repair may cost more than it is worth considering this is an old machine.

It was fine earlier today before I updated. I phoned and they said there was no problem. I used my partner's Mac (with 10.5.5) and, sure enough, it's fine on there. After entering my username and password and pressing "Log On" button, Safari 4 redirects to (it appears on the address bar) [URL] and the browser window only shows a line of text saying 404: File Not Found. I was wondering if this normal or if I have a problem. BTW I have 3gb of ram. I also have the power supply grinding sound, but that another story.
