macbook doesn't recognise external sandisk card reader, USB 3,in the shop said my mac with usb 2 would talk to each other, not happening, no icon on the desktop nothing.

I simply can't take any of my pictures off of my SD card. I've tried using the USB cable that came with the camera itself, as well as a USB card reader. iPhoto, and the laptop itself does not recognize the card, or that there is any device mounted at all. I've also tried checking "External Disks" in Finder Preferences, didn't seem to work.

Lately, my macbook pro has not been recognizing my SD card reader. SD cards do not mount, and it looks like the computer is not recognizing the SD card reader at all (When I check About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> USB, the card reader does not show up). I've never had a problem before, in the ~3 years I've had this Macbook. I'm running Maverick.

I just bought this mac pro and it intermittantly will recognize its bluetooth card. it is really annoying, seeing as i use the bluetooth mouse as well as keyboard. Whenever I restart after about 10 times, I have bluetooth.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor about a week now every time I try to upload a card in the normal way aperture only sees a small portion of the images. the number varies and I can stop the import and start it over and a different number of images may be selected.Â
Also, those images selected for import are in a random order on the screen. To make things work I'm uploading the images to a HD then importing them from the HD into aperture in the normal way and everything seems to work fine. Multiple cards used so it's not the card. Even tried a different reader. Using Yosemite and Ap. 3.6

my mac book pro is not recognizing my WD 500 GB external hardrive. I checked and double checked to make sure the external was mac compatible before I bought : and it was. It also is not recongizing an WD external hardrive I borrowed from a co-worker. Here is what I have done and checked so far.Â
- I checked to see if the externals worked on other Mac Pros( just to double check mac compatibility)-Â they showed up on on 4 different Mac books.
- I checked to see if there was something wrong my usb ports. So I incerted my 4 GB flash drive in the USB port, and then my co-workers 4GB Flashdrive- My computer recognized both the devices.
- My computer was very full ( that is why I bought a bigger hardrive to back up my files) so I thought maybe there just wasnted even enough free space for my computer to recongize the devices. So I freed up 70GB of hardrive space on my mac book. - still nothing.
- I also checked to make sure I had the suggested software updates to run the drive, before I bought it. Â

I plugged in my 32 GB sdhc card via an external reader and its contents were deleted by the iMac. I restarted the computer and tried to read another sd card and the iMac does not even recognize the card and reader. The power light briefly flashes once. THis computer has read SD cards for many years without a problem.Â

so just like the title says I'm having some trouble as I did a recent upgrade to snow leopard and I have been beach balling a lot. I read that I should do a fresh install and heres where I ran into problems. My external HD is not appearing in finder. It used to work just fine before and it works fine on all of my roommates macs. I tried rebooting to see if it would fix the problem and all that happened was it made my bluetooth module say it was unavailable. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen my laptop stopped recognizing my external keyboard and mouse I searched the discussions and found an answer that has worked, but only temporarily. It was to do a PRAM reset 3 times and when I do this the keyboard and mouse work fine. But when I disconnect the mouse and keyboard and then later reconnect it will not recognize them. I have repeated the PRAM reset 3 times each time this has happened (4 times) and they work fine but then there is always a problem when I disconnect and reconnect.Â

I have bought Lion from Applestore a few days ago. The installation ran fine, but, as a first approach, I was really disappointed when inserting in the side slot of my iMac an SD card Sandisk 4Gb from my Nikon D90: it was not detected, not shown in the desktop, nor in Disk Utility, no way to be shown in iPhoto or Nikon View NX2. By the way Nikon View had a very strange behaviour: clicking on a thumbnail it opened a new window showing again thumbnails which, when clicked, opened new window..Switched bac to Snow Leopard every thing ran fine again. Must I say not very encouraged to try Lion once again

Using Migration Assistant, I'm trying to transfer back-up files (whole system) from my Western Digital, External HDD to a new-to-me iMac which I've just purchased used. The External HDD has all my files (hopefully!) from my recently stolen iMac. As you can imagine, the circumstances are a bit unexpected and unsettling.
I've followed Apple's instructions for using MA with an external drive, but get hung up like others before me when it comes time for my new (used) computer to locate the disc from which to transfer the files. I've read the replies to others who have posted with similar difficulties using Snow Leopard, but resolving the issue seems to be just out of reach. Â
Original computer is now unavailable (stolen); it last ran on Snow Leopard, 10.6.3 to 6.8.New computer is used, and also runs on 10.6.8.Both computers are iMac 2009, tho slightly different versions, if that has any bearing on things.I created a temporary account on my new-to-me computer to make the data transfer, so that there wouldn't be an accounts conflict, as others have suggested.Western Digital External HDD, "My Book, Studio Edition," 1TB. I've had a pleasant experience with my imac so far, and it read my SD card fine at first. For some reason I put my SD in the SD card reader and copied the pictures from it. I take it out and put it back in my camera. "The SD card cannot be formatted. It may be defective." Really? I put it back in my iMac. It doesn't mount. I check Finder and Disk Utility. Ya, it's nowhere. I put my other SD card in my iMac. Same issue. Now my camera won't read that one either. I put them in my sister's $300 netbook running Windows 7 Starter. Funny! It reads them! However, my camera still doesn't and my imac still doesn't. I try formatting them. No go. I've tried every format I can. They are just dead. Useless. My sister's computer can read them, and even format them, but something in that stupid iMac made my SD cards defective. I can buy new ones, but should I have to? I can't even see if they'll work through the camera while connected via USB because the camera won't even read them. I bought a Mac to avoid ridiculous problems like this. Was I wrong? Is it just a ticking time bomb like every other computer on the market? Should I immediately go buy a backup drive? If it's doing crazy stuff like this out of the blue, how can I trust it not to randomly crash? I think I overestimated Apple's competence. This should never happen. It actually made my SD cards defective.

Ordinarily I would suspect that my �2.99 card reader is faulty and just buy a new one...however I also have an iMac, and it works perfectly with that.

I used to do DSLR photography with CF, but fell out of love with it and sold it, so now it's back to regular old SD for my point and shoot. I'm looking for a card reader that obviously supports SD, but I'd like some type of all-in-one so I can throw most anything at it. I'd also like it to be flush with the computer when inserted.

My wife's Mac Book Pro (around 18 months old) gets an error message when she hooks up our Canon camera. It says the USB is drawing to much power and has been disabled. She has downloaded 1000's of pictures without problems and now that message pops up. And she doesn't have anything extra plugged in since the last downlaod around a week ago. Also the SD card reader isn't working. When the card is plugged in nothing happens and we can't find the card in iphoto. So now she has no way to get the pictures on iphoto. It's not the cord or the card because I can download them without any problem on my Windows computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo here's a weird one. I have a Macbook Pro 15" (MacBookPro 8,2). SD card reader reads my SD cards just fine on the OSX side of things. I have Windows 7 x64 installed as well, with BootCamp 4.0 drivers installed, everything is fine (including device manager saying that SD card reader drivers are perfectly fine), except the card reader absolutely refuses to read any SD cards. I've tried several of them. The laptop isn't even aware that a card has been inserted. Anyone have any ideas? I'm stumped (which rarely happens, give the fact that I am an IT consultant by day). I've reinstalled the drivers for the SD card several times.

As the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.
