MacBook Air :: It Won't Recognize Class 10 SD Card From Card Reader Or From Nikon D5100
Mar 2, 2012I simply can't take any of my pictures off of my SD card. I've tried using the USB cable that came with the camera itself, as well as a USB card reader. iPhoto, and the laptop itself does not recognize the card, or that there is any device mounted at all. I've also tried checking "External Disks" in Finder Preferences, didn't seem to work.

Sep 7, 2014Lately, my macbook pro has not been recognizing my SD card reader. SD cards do not mount, and it looks like the computer is not recognizing the SD card reader at all (When I check About This Mac -> More Info -> System Report -> USB, the card reader does not show up). I've never had a problem before, in the ~3 years I've had this Macbook. I'm running Maverick.

Dec 8, 2014An SD memory card 32GB that used work well, when inserted into the MacBook Pro reader slot is no longer being recognized by the computer at all:
it is not visible in Finder or Image Capture or iPhoto, now nothing/nada/zip…
I am away from home, travelling - not anywhere near an Apple store/Apple Genius or even my old external card reader or a camera wire - so can not try these either!
Have a MacBook Pro, 2 years old, running OS X 10.8.5...

Jun 22, 2009I just got a new MacPro (running Leopard) and I'm trying to get Windows XP to work via Bootcamp.
I used the Bootcamp Assistant to create the partition, then install XP, and then from XP install the various drivers from the Leopard Install CD. But XP doesn't think there is a wireless card in the Mac, which makes me think it is a driver issue.

Jul 21, 2010I have some footage (avchd ) on my SD card. I've read that iMovie 09 should import this direct from the card when inserted in my MBP. But, it always defaults to the isight camera and i cant select any other camera type from the check box in the bottom left of the menu? Can anyone please assist?

Dec 6, 2014For about a week now every time I try to upload a card in the normal way aperture only sees a small portion of the images. the number varies and I can stop the import and start it over and a different number of images may be selected.
Also, those images selected for import are in a random order on the screen. To make things work I'm uploading the images to a HD then importing them from the HD into aperture in the normal way and everything seems to work fine. Multiple cards used so it's not the card. Even tried a different reader. Using Yosemite and Ap. 3.6

Mar 5, 2012I hate this thing when I try to download music or movies, they ask me again my password and give me my credit card details, when I enter the code, they say is not valid!!! what? I just bought from you guys several times, what are you talking about now????
The funny thing is that sometime it does, as matter of fact I have bought more than 30 movies and songs and suddenly ask me again the code and ????

I recently bought a 1GB RAM card from apple, I took out the 512KB card from Bank 1, and put in the 1GB. I then put the old card into Bank 0, but the computer wont recognize the memory in bank 0. I can get either card to work in bank 1 but neither in bank 0 . Is there some trick to activate bank 0?

Dec 26, 2010As the title says, I have a card reader that works great with a CF card, but the MBP won't recognize an SD card. This is a new problem for me. I also have an express card adapter for SD that won't read the card, either. I have tried 4 different SD cards, and these exact cards have worked for me in the recent past (within the past 2 months). They work fine in the camera. I also tried connecting the camera via usb, which was unsuccessful. I tried blowing air on the cards and the reader. I cannot get the cards to be read on my wife's macbook. This makes no sense to me, as it worked fine the last time I tried. I find it hard to believe that all cards are corrupt, or the cable is the problem because it reads the CF card.

Dec 21, 2008 I'm in need of some guidance. It took me a little while to get my GTX280 into the 1st slot in my mac pro but I'm just wondering,
In order to boot into os x can I just leave the 280 in the 1st slot and put the old 7300 gt in the 2nd slot ?
Then I can turn the power off from the 280 and it will default to the 2nd slot rite? Or must I remove the bottom (280) card for the older card to work?

This didn't bother me because at my old apartment my computer was near the router so I just wired it up by ethernet. MacBook Pro :: It Won't Recognize New HDD
May 25, 2012I'm having a problem with my MBP and am stumped; I hope someone has a solution. Here's the backstory (please bear with me; this may be a bit long in order to give you all the details). My keyboard croaked, and the 160gb hard drive was filling up, so I thought I would replace both and add more RAM while I had the beast opened up. So I did all that, successfully (I think). Prior to taking out the HD, I backed it up using Time Machine. The MBP was running Leopard. I have the original 10.4.8 disc, after which I updated to 10.5.8.
After swapping out the keyboard, drive and adding RAM, I fired the system up and it worked! So I inserted the Install disc, went to Disc Utilities and formatted and partitioned the 750gb new drive. When I asked the system to install the OS, it chuckled at me and did nothing. The new partitions are on the desktop, but the Install disc doesn't recognize them. I plugged my external drive in (the one that has the Time Machine backup...), restarted the MBP, and it booted from the Western Digital external drive. how can I get the system to recognize the new drive and install the OS on it?

Dec 4, 2010I've had a pleasant experience with my imac so far, and it read my SD card fine at first. For some reason I put my SD in the SD card reader and copied the pictures from it. I take it out and put it back in my camera. "The SD card cannot be formatted. It may be defective." Really? I put it back in my iMac. It doesn't mount. I check Finder and Disk Utility. Ya, it's nowhere. I put my other SD card in my iMac. Same issue. Now my camera won't read that one either. I put them in my sister's $300 netbook running Windows 7 Starter. Funny! It reads them! However, my camera still doesn't and my imac still doesn't. I try formatting them. No go. I've tried every format I can. They are just dead. Useless. My sister's computer can read them, and even format them, but something in that stupid iMac made my SD cards defective. I can buy new ones, but should I have to? I can't even see if they'll work through the camera while connected via USB because the camera won't even read them. I bought a Mac to avoid ridiculous problems like this. Was I wrong? Is it just a ticking time bomb like every other computer on the market? Should I immediately go buy a backup drive? If it's doing crazy stuff like this out of the blue, how can I trust it not to randomly crash? I think I overestimated Apple's competence. This should never happen. It actually made my SD cards defective.

I need to capture video from a HDV camera to a firewire hard drives and I get hickups and slow downs that cause dropped frames. Jan 9, 2010My MacBook simply does not get along with one specific DVD, and I can't figure out why. It's the third disc in a set of four (First 13 episodes of Glee on DVD -- don't judge), and the others play perfectly. The disc is flawless, as far as I can tell, but for some reason, my MacBook won't recognize it. When I put it in, it sounds like the disc is trying to spin but can't. It does this for about ten seconds and then it gets spit back out.
The DVD will play anywhere else but the MacBook and the MacBook will play anything else except that DVD. I would just accept that this DVD and my Mac will never be friends IF it was just a stand alone DVD, but like I said, it's from a set of four. They should all be in the same format/region/what have you, right?
