View 6 RepliesA while back I downloaded a program called Dock Doctor in order to mess with my dock graphics. Unfortunately it, never really worked right, so I decided to remove it. When I removed it, my dock kept the last setting it had from when Dock Doctor was installed, and I am unable to get it back to the default. I have tried everything I can think of. I deleted the files from the library > preferences which deal with the dock, and that didn't help. I then tried to install both cleardock, which wouldn't install (gives me an error), and cleardock, who's settings don't seem to be changing my dock at all. Something dock doctor did seems to have completely locked my dock graphics down and nothing I do seems to be able to fix it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to set my dock to default settings Basically, I want my dock to look exactly like it did when I first turned on my mac for the very first time. I want all the items I added to the dock gone, and all the default ones I removed back in the dock. I know I can do it manually, but I want to know if there's a way to do it via terminal or something like that.

I recently purchased Adobe Master Suite and installed it to my MBP. I found that this was a mistake cause it cluttered my brand new MBP. So I uninstalled it and realized how cluttered my MBP is already. I was wondering is there away that I can clear everything and re-install the OS without slowing down the Mac in any way?

OS is Mavericks. All users are AD users. No server management. We use Deep Freeze to revert the Mac to the way we set it up.
I can find info for previous versions of OSX; basically just copying the plist, but I can't find anything that works for Mavericks.
I'm looking for a easy way to restore my 1st gen Core Duo MacBook (10.6.2)'s display profile to the original 10.6.2 profile. (Whatever that may be)
The color seems to be washed away somewhat dry looking. I have another one of the same laptops, and the display's colors seems far sharper and brighter.
I've recently dual-booted Mac with Ubuntu and now when I reload the router it boots up with Ubuntu's grub loader where i see an entry for Mac for both 32-bit and 64-bit. Both options, however, don't work. I have to press option key on bootup to select the HDD containing Mac OS to boot into it. I want to know if there's a way of restoring the default boot loader for Mac OS which currently is being replaced by that of Ubuntu's?

Why does this happen. and how can i fix this?
how to restore the default Color LCD profile for a mbp 15" Glossy Hi-Res? I was messing around with mine trying to get rid of the purplish hue to all Blues and overwritten the default one. I'd rather not have to do a re-install and my Time Machine backup is of my old mbp (so different panel).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently experienced a glitch in which my web browser locked during a shutdown operation. I had just changed a browser preference setting to "empty cookies and history" when I quit the browser. I restored the preference to its previous setting and the browser quit locking up. However, I now have a new problem: I can't download .pdf files (maybe others as well but I was able to download an application file successfully). This problem occurs with both Safari and Firefox browsers.I was recently checking the performance of 2 .pdf readers and I am sure I changed the default reader. I cannot remember how to restore Preview to be the default reader. Maybe this will get me back in business.

I'm not sure how this has happened, but my Mission Control has become mirrored from the default settings. The "X" that appears to close programs now shows up on the left hand side of each Desktop, and the pop-out desktop that I am supposed to click on to create a new desktop is now showing up on the left hand side of my screen instead of the right hand side of my screen. Is there a way to restore Mission Control to it's default settings and configuration?

On my Macbook, running Leopard, I recently changed all my icons. (applications, folders, default files, etc.) I changed the Finder and Trash icons via System/Library/CoreServices. But the Dock won't recognize that the Finder icon has changed-- it's still showing me the old icon. That's Problem 1.
Then I created a new user account, and discovered that on that account the Dock shows the correct Finder image. But Problem 2: the new account doesn't recognize my default file icons. It flashes them for a second when I save the file, and then reverts back to the regular white default image. (Even though all the .icns files are correct in the application's Resources folder.) I really don't want to download Candybar or anything, since I know it can be done without that.
I installed Cleardock [makes the dock transparent] and I tried getting rid of it by going into user/library/preferences and deleting com.apple.dock.plist. However now my dock is still clear but also reflective [see pic]. So then I tried to reinstall cleardock then uninstall it but that didn't work [I did a killall Dock to reset it]. I also read on a forum how to restore my dock to the default but that just gave me back the default application icons. So how can I get my dock back to normal! And if it helps I have time machine back ups from before my dock was like this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed DockDoctor a little while ago just so I could change the dock color based on the wallpaper I had. Well, I tried to change it again today, and it wouldn't move back to its default, nor would it change to any other colors. I restarted the dock several times, I deleted the com.apple.Dock.plist file and restarted it through Terminal, but even that didn't do the trick.

On my new iMac 21.5 I inadvertently dragged the Application folder out of the Dock and it disappeared in the puff of smoke. I managed to drag a new alias back to the Dock, but when I click it now it only gives me the finder, but does give me the large window with all the icons displayed. How do I restore this aspect?

Last week, my dashboard icon in the dock disappeared in a puff of smoke. I've not been able to restore it back the way it was before (as an icon in the doc). I've tried to add it as a login app, but of course it opens up on login. When I run the app, I can't right click on the dock item and choose "keep in dock" So, how can I get it back?
