On my new iMac 21.5 I inadvertently dragged the Application folder out of the Dock and it disappeared in the puff of smoke. I managed to drag a new alias back to the Dock, but when I click it now it only gives me the finder, but does give me the large window with all the icons displayed. How do I restore this aspect?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a download folder on my dock and also on my desktop. When I click it open there is nothing there. However, when I go over to the left hand sidebar of Finder and I click on the Downloads (down arrow) label it brings up all my downloads. I used to have a spring loaded icon on my dock ... now its just empty unless I press the Downloads (down arrow) label in Finder. How can I restore the original download folder that was spring loaded on my dock?

Can anyone tell me how to make the applications folder reappear in my home folder without it looking like an alias? My steam install somehow messed it up so I had to delete it, and now I am trying to figure out how to get it back.

After that my dock was no more I have tried making another login but still the dock is missing I dont believe that anything got deleted idk. Also I opened candybar again and I pressed the button to make it restore all the changes is made. It completed the restore but my dock was still missing.

How do you do this?
Everytime I drag the Applications folder from the left side of the Finder window to the dock, I just see a poof of smoke and nothing gets added to the dock BUT the Applications folder from the left side of the Finder window disappears!!
Am I doing the dragging/dropping wrong or something? I've tried to add it to the right hand side of the dock (the side by the Trash can), and it still does the same thing.
I have lost my dock folder containing my windows programs, I'm using Parallels. How do I restore it?

After trying to customize my icons with LiteIcon and CandyBar and everything, my dock refuses to show up, at all. When I go to Finder and then to Dock, it has the beach ball.
When I try to go to the Applications folder, it has the beach ball.
I've tried Terminal "killall Dock" but it doesn't appear to be a Dock problem, but rather an Application problem. Maybe even both.
This is my first week using a mac, I don't know what to do. I'm currently repairing disk permissions?

i have, or had, an applications folder next to the trash on my dock
but the link seems to have broken. when i click it now it just puts up
a big question mark.
i tried making an alias for the applications folder and putting that
on the dock in place of the broken one but that, while it works right
after i make it, soon breaks also.
what's this about and how do i get the applications folder back and
stable?
For some reason, my applications folder disappeared from the dock. I've tried to drag it back, next to the trash, but it won't settle there.

I've poured over these boards in hopes to finding a solution as to why my dashboard won't open. It literally stopped working mid day, one day when I went to return to get a number off of my sticky note in my dashboard. I have tried posting the different lists from my preferences page, however, am unable to get the docments to actually drag to my desktop. I'm not sure if there are any other solutions, but was hoping to find a quick fix as opposed to traveling 2 hours to the nearest genius bar. Any help would be awesome!!

I saw the black folder that it comes with in the dock of a computer in my local Apple store and thought it looked really good. But now I'm trying to do this myself and when I drag the folder to the dock, it changes it to some other blue folder with an icon sticking out of it. It'll also only let me drag it to the side of the dock with the trash can.
View 3 Replies View RelatedLong story short I accidentally deleted my dashboard from the applications folder and emptied the trash. I don't have the original restoration disks so I was hoping that someone could host the file for me.

It was working fine until this morning. Whenever I click on an application in the dock, it opens up the applications folder. And whenever I click a link in firefox, it opens in a new tab, and is incredibly annoying!

A while back I downloaded a program called Dock Doctor in order to mess with my dock graphics. Unfortunately it, never really worked right, so I decided to remove it. When I removed it, my dock kept the last setting it had from when Dock Doctor was installed, and I am unable to get it back to the default. I have tried everything I can think of. I deleted the files from the library > preferences which deal with the dock, and that didn't help. I then tried to install both cleardock, which wouldn't install (gives me an error), and cleardock, who's settings don't seem to be changing my dock at all. Something dock doctor did seems to have completely locked my dock graphics down and nothing I do seems to be able to fix it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Cleardock [makes the dock transparent] and I tried getting rid of it by going into user/library/preferences and deleting com.apple.dock.plist. However now my dock is still clear but also reflective [see pic]. So then I tried to reinstall cleardock then uninstall it but that didn't work [I did a killall Dock to reset it]. I also read on a forum how to restore my dock to the default but that just gave me back the default application icons. So how can I get my dock back to normal! And if it helps I have time machine back ups from before my dock was like this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed DockDoctor a little while ago just so I could change the dock color based on the wallpaper I had. Well, I tried to change it again today, and it wouldn't move back to its default, nor would it change to any other colors. I restarted the dock several times, I deleted the com.apple.Dock.plist file and restarted it through Terminal, but even that didn't do the trick.
