I am using a recommended M-Audio, Fast Track interface for home recording on GarageBand. All aspects of the interface work really well except that my recorded tracks, which play back very loudly on my Companion 3 system but when I switch to the headphones on the interface, the volume decreases greatly. I'm not sure what the "Monitor on/off" on Garageband does as it has no effect?
I've recently purchased a spanking new macbook pro and am keen to lay some tracks down in garageband. I need a cheap but good quality audio interface so's I get get my guitar riffs onto the mac.
Every time I export a song out of GarageBand, the volume for the MP3 track is too low. I have to blast my volume in order to hear it. In the old GarageBand, the volume would usually be too loud on the MP3 track, but now it is the opposite.
I have tried adjusting the Master Volume and the Track Volume in GB and have still had no luck. The volume problem happens when I export a track containing only Apple Loops. If the track contains music played by my keyboard, then the volume is fine.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
In Garageband, when I record acoustic guitar, the first 5 seconds are recorded at a good volume, but then Garageband automatically reduces the recording volume, making for a very inconsistent beginning.
I am using the default acoustic guitar track, with automatic level control turned OFF. This is on the newest MBP, with what i believe is the latest Garageband.
I know that Flash uses more battery power. However is that only when you are actually using a window that needs Flash. Does just installing it decrease your battery performance in any way? I am running into lots of sites that require Flash and I would like to install it but not at the risk of severely limiting my battery usage when not actually using it.
I use Spaces all the time when running my mac. I like applications having a dedicated space so I can leave many open at once without losing screen real estate. I just discovered that in the Preferences you can increase from the default 4 spaces to any number you want. If I increase this number will I start noticing performance decreases? I realize if I leave too many apps open I may notice it, but assuming I have the same number of apps running, will I see the same performance if I have 6 or 9 (or more) spaces open as if I only had the default 4?
Just got it today. When I sleep it, a quiet but audible noise kicks off that increases and decreases in intensity with the light on the front of the unit gets brighter and dimmer (so sort of sinusoidal). I've tried restarting it and resetting the SMC. The unit got upgraded to 4Gb ram and a 7200 320gb hard drive today. But I don't believe it's the hard drive - that makes a very low key monotonous whine that stops when I sleep the unit.
I have a Mac Pro and not too long ago I swapped from a fat, heavy and filthy white Apple Keyboard to a new skinny silver one. I like it, and also love that the F7-9 Skip Back-Pause/Play-Skip Forward keys work for iTunes, even when another app is active (what's the word I'm looking for - in focus or whatever). But I use Optical output, so the volume keys (F10-12) don't do anything. I know that, when iTunes is the active app, I can command-+/- to change the volume, but I'd love to be able to map the F10-12 keys to do that - without having to have iTunes active (playing, but not the active window).
Recently, my newer (last year) iMac probably running 10.5 started speaking and wont shut up... there is no obvious way to turn it off. I usually figure problems out myself but there are no system preferences that effect it. I even changed the voice in preferences as a test and it is still the same guy reading everything clicked in all applications except when I am in system preferences so far. Usually when I run into a dead end like this there is some mystery key command that works... anyone know?I also noticed that some of the top line (f) keys are not doing what they are supposed to any longer as well... volume up opens the window for expose & spaces it looks like and does not control the volume monitor brightness controls are not working either... I went to the key and mouse preferences and set the key strokes to default and still the same.
I have my imac apart right now and replaced the internal HD as it was not working. I assume the problem is the new one is not formatted with OSX, so from the INSTALL CD I opened the disk utility and see only one drive called "MEDIA".? Or is that just part of the install dvd that looks like a HD? In the system it shows as not formatted, 0 bytes. When selected in Partition it says :
"This voume is the startup volume and cannot be erased. Size 7.1 GB The disk is not writable and cannot be partitioned"
So i guess thats not my new HD I am seeing? Other than that there is only the two OSX install CD icons.
I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this- it is a pita to adjust separate volume controls on everything. If I adjust the volume on the keyboard, the volume slider in itunes doe snot move. If I set the volume on itunes with a mouse, then come home and use the volume controls on my keyboard, I have to also manually adjust the slider in itunes. Anyway to link the two?
I recently decided to increase the volume of my bootcamp disk, which I had done in the past using a method which ultimately made the disk unrecognizable. This time around I used Winclone to create an image of my bootcamp disk. I was not sure exactly how Winclone worked and to be safe I decided to keep the Bootcamp disk I had, and I created a third partition of a larger volume to which I restored the bootcamp image. Everything worked fine obviously, and the image was restored correctly to the new larger volume. The dilemma is I had two bootcamp disks, so I erased the smaller volume because I no longer needed it. Currently I am trying to restore this empty space within the main disk to the Macintosh HD. Disk util looks like:
I know I can just create a backup of the macintosh HD, another image of the bootcamp disk, and format the disk and start over, but I am hoping there is an easier way to go about this; considering there has been a method engineered such that I can just drag that corner of the mac HD and voila I have instantly more storage after applying, it seems viable that there is something that can be done rather than formatting my disk, unless the necessity for that of course was overlooked.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
Before I get flamed and etc... I have google and done some research about this issue but cannot find much about it.
I am not sure if this is a very common issue or topic but how do you adjust or modify your apple keyboard so that you can adjust screen brightness or volume? I am currently running Windows XP SP3, on a 2.4Ghz Unibody Macbook.
I have searched the forums and also the internet to find out how to uninstall the HUD interface mod. I have this mod on a few things. I would like to uninstall this mod, but really just don't know how?
Let's say I have my computer connected via Ethernet and WiFi at the same time. Is there any way to see which connection is the one that's actually being used, short of installing iftop?
I am a new iMac owner and am dealing with a big lack of Mac software knowledge. From what I have pieced together ShapeShifter is what I am looking for, but it doesnt work on 10.5. Need to customize my iMac?
I subscribed for a year to MobileMe. I like the benefits of it, but the online interface is possibly the worst I have ever used. Is there any way to use a basic HTML form instead of the current one? What are some alternatives?
I want to know if it's possible to play on my xbox by the osx interface. Actually, I plugged it with my vga MS cable but my samsung SyncMaster 2443bw did not show me right the 1920 by 1080 (1080p). The image hidded the side because the image are oversized by a full screen zooming. So, Can I plug with my x360 on my Mac Pro to have a 1080p. I tried the elgato hybrid but there is only a rca plug & s-video so no Full HD.
When I'm at home, I usually use an E-MU 0404 USB audio interface to channel sounds from my MBP. The problem is that every time I turn on the interface, the sound is distorted and corrupt. It is not a problem with the hardware; my monitors and interface work properly. The only workaround is to restart the computer with the interface connected and on, which clears up the sound. However, this is very inconvenient to do every time and I think that it's most likely due to a sound driver issue.
Looking for a web based interface with Mac. A Go To My Mac if you will. I was wondering if anyone knows of one or how to jury rig mac OS X into doing this? (the best solution I came up with was to share on my mac using VNC software and then GOTOMY PC to the windows machine.
I'm using 2 network interfaces. One wifi, which is fast, and one ethernet, which is my internal connection. I want to download and browse with the wifi one, and stream and sometimes browse through the ethernet one. How can I tell apps to use either wifi or ethernet?
I have hooked up[ an m audio 2626 to my imac. drivers have been downloaded, followed all the steps. computer is not seeing a connection to the firewire port. When i connect to my macbook pro, no problem. How do I get a connection to the firewire on my imac
Customers participating in Apple's official support discussions (one, two) have reported that the new iMac will technically continue to run when the freeze occurs, but that it becomes impossible to control or switch to programs without a hard reset.
"Whatever was going on at the time continues, so if you were listening to music it continues to play," one user wrote. "The mouse pointer moves but you cannot select anything. Tabbing through apps doesn't work."
Significantly, some can still control basic functions from the keyboard, such as pausing music or activating the Caps Lock key.
I'm looking for a good quality Audio Interface for my iMac, i work with MIDI only so i won't be needing tons of ins & outs for vocals, mics, live instruments etc, the only thing I'll be needing to connect is a Digital Piano (MIDI ports) and a pair of Monitor Speakers. what are the best AI brands out there for a iMac ?
sleep the missing keyboard window decided to popped up, not something I'd expect from a laptop! And if you think that's bad, the mouse one appeared right after!! So I can only guess the damn trackpad packed in resulting to a non-functioning keyboard ; and to verify, the USB device has vanished from the system profiler along with the preference control panel!!! Thankfully Apple had some sense, they didn't wire everything through the trackpad as the blue-tooth and power button still functions
So, I'm making an app for Mac OS 10.6.5 in Xcode. I want to add an IKImageView and I drag it in. But when I Build & Go in Xcode, it wont open. Just keeps jumping. Is there a framework I need to add?
