View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had multiple Apple laptops in the past and never gotten (nor seen the need for) AppleCare. Both Pismo, CS1400 and MBP first gen. My experience is that any weak point will show up during the first year and I have sent in at least one to Apple and they have fixed it under original warranty during first year, no problem.
Since battery seems to be the weak link I was planning on getting AppleCare for my new MBA. However if that is not the covered by AppleCare then I am looking for some pointers/reason why I should even consider AppleCare for my MBA.
I was just reading a post here, and I decided to register so I could post this, but it looks like the post was deleted so I am going to post it anywhere:AppleCare does not cover Accidental Damage!Attached is a screenshot from the Apple Chat thing:

A few weeks ago it began randomly turning off. Like I will be doing stuff, have plenty of battery left according to both the software meter and the green lights on the side, then it will click, the screen will turn black and I won't be able to turn it back on.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13' 2.53 GHz, and it's been getting hotter a lot more quickly, and a lot more often then since I got it. I opened it up and saw a lot of dust in there. I didn't have any compressed air in the house at the time, but i'm also concerned about messing something up.

Does Applecare cover the replacement of the backlight bulb and inverter board? Looking at a PowerBook that has Applecare - The screen in the listing picture is not too bright. The seller has stated that all is well with the screen, but you never know. I am prepared to go for it if the Applecare covers the screen lighting. Applecare cover on notebooks appears to be worldwide - If the screen lighting conks out overseas, I can get it fixed at the local Apple Store?

View 2 Replies View Relatedpicked up a unibody last Saturday night, and opened the battery cover tonight. The latch was opened with little resistance, but now won't close. The latch edge sits about 1/8" up, and I can't find anything which would seem to prevent it from closing.
Anyone else had a troublesome battery latch, and how did you resolve it?
apple replaced my SR mbp with a new unibody model after a series of breaks (which was awesome). Anyway, they told us to buy applecare, and since we were getting a brand new laptop we kind of had to say yes, so we bought it. Then when I got home and actually tried to apply it, it said it already had applecare. So I looked up the serial and it's covered until sep 2012, 3 years. So did I just get free applecare or did it just automatically apply because they were on the same receipt?

View 6 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago my Powerbook g4 quit recognizing the power adapter. I had an after market adapter that was kind of beat up, but the proper voltage was still reaching the pin. I ended up sending my notebook to apple to fix under the protection plan. All they did was replace my battery and send it back. That was fine and dandy as i was able to use my computer until the battery died. I decided maybe it was my adapter so i ordered a new after market adapter. Still a no go. Sent my computer back to Apple. This time they replaced the logic board. It still doesn't work. Could it be that my adapter (the brand new one) is bad? Or is there still something wrong with my laptop? Every time I call apple they want me to go to an Apple Store, but unfortunately the closest one is like an hour away. Should I send this thing back for a third time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI don't know how to take a screenshot, or I would. I just tried to register my AppleCare (which I bought from the Apple Store the same day I bought my MacBook) and when I click "submit" I get a message telling me the product I'm trying to use is unavailable in my location (which I know for a fact isn't the case - I live in NC, not on Mars). Has anyone else ever seen this happen? I printed the screen to a PDF so when I go to the Apple Store tomorrow they don't think I'm nuts. I know there's no problem with what I bought, and I know I'll get it taken care of in the morning, but it's a bit annoying and I was curious to see if others had had this happen. Also - hope I posted this in the right thread, or at least something close to correct.

my friend has kindly bought a MBA from hong kong on my behalf and i'll get it later this week (can't wait!). what i need to decide is if i should purchase some sort of 'insurance cover' for this MBA.
applecare is the obvious choice. however, 199 for the 2 additional years seem quite pricey. although i have links with my university, i believe i won't be able to get the educational price (47) given the MBA was purchased from the HK online store.
do you think the 199 applecare will be important or are there 3rd party insurance covers out there i can consider?
If I buy a MacBook Pro from Microcenter or somewhere else, can I go to an Apple store and buy AppleCare and use it for the MacBook?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know the drill, I'm new here, but I have read that the majority of people here think apple care is a good investment, and I agree. But here is the spin.
I have about 2 weeks to decide whether I want apple care on my ibook G4 14" 1.42. It'll run me just under $300 (CDN). Thing is, with all the new improvements out there, is it even worth it for me to buy it? Like, if my laptop broke, I was thinking of just wanna splurging on a new macbook (not that it wouldn't hurt the wallat of course.
Another major point, the laptop from what I've noticed on ebay is only actually worth like $900. So I'm paying 1/3 of the value for apple care (since all the new upgrades have depreciated my laptop).
If I don't buy it with a MBP, what type of warranty do I get with the MBP? Can I take it to an Apple Store, and does Apple allow me to mail it to them for free? If I do get AppleCare, what do I get? Free Replacements?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI've never purchased AppleCare before, but I notice its alot cheaper from places like ebay and such. My only problem is, how do I know if they're legit? How is the registering process for AppleCare work? Is there anything special I should look for when searching places like ebay? EDIT: Sorry, I'm purchasing it for my MBP, thats why I posted here, sorry if its in the wrong forum.
