View 6 RepliesI ordered a MBP 13" from Amazon 4/20. They estimate shipping between 5/12 and 5/24. Other resellers (e.g., MacMall, MacConnection, BHVideo) appear to have the 13" in stock.

Im about to pull the trigger on a 17", if I can't order the 15" high res from Amazon.Anyone been able to find it in their systems? Or is it a custom order only?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I dowloaded some tv episodes on amazon.com through their instant video option and then realized that they cannot be downloaded onto to a mac. The amazon unbox feauture (that lets you do it on a PC) is not compatible with macs. Does anyone know a way I can downolad the files onto a mac??

Do I need to order anything else to slip this into my macbook pro? Special mounting brackets or anything? I plan to just swap out my 500 HD. Then plop in this. Then install OSX via superdrive. It should be super fast and hopefully this drive will work well. I'm gonna do a boot camp partition with windows 7 too.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the new Mac OS X client for Amazon's Cloud Drive service. I double-clicked to launch it, then dragged the app icon over to the Applications folder in order to install it.
Now I see an Amazon Cloud Drive icon on my desktop, but clicking it doesn't take me to a signin screen for my Amazon account, as I would expect, but invites me to drag the app icon over to the Applications folder AGAIN. Starting from the Applications folder and trying to launch it from there gives me the same result.

apple replaced my SR mbp with a new unibody model after a series of breaks (which was awesome). Anyway, they told us to buy applecare, and since we were getting a brand new laptop we kind of had to say yes, so we bought it. Then when I got home and actually tried to apply it, it said it already had applecare. So I looked up the serial and it's covered until sep 2012, 3 years. So did I just get free applecare or did it just automatically apply because they were on the same receipt?

Because of this (and my inability to find my proof of purchase), it was never registered. If I got a new Macbook Pro, would I be able to use this old AppleCare Protection Plan on it?

I was about to order a 2.8 8-core mac pro from Amazon yesterday because it was 2699 plus a rebate, which is cheaper than anywhere else, and just buy the 8800 gt separately. But i decided to wait until I got home and get final permission from the wife because of course that's a good idea, rightThis morning I get up and the amazon price, which has been the same for months, has gone up 100 dollars to the regular Apple.com price!

my friend has kindly bought a MBA from hong kong on my behalf and i'll get it later this week (can't wait!). what i need to decide is if i should purchase some sort of 'insurance cover' for this MBA.
applecare is the obvious choice. however, 199 for the 2 additional years seem quite pricey. although i have links with my university, i believe i won't be able to get the educational price (47) given the MBA was purchased from the HK online store.
do you think the 199 applecare will be important or are there 3rd party insurance covers out there i can consider?
If I buy a MacBook Pro from Microcenter or somewhere else, can I go to an Apple store and buy AppleCare and use it for the MacBook?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had multiple Apple laptops in the past and never gotten (nor seen the need for) AppleCare. Both Pismo, CS1400 and MBP first gen. My experience is that any weak point will show up during the first year and I have sent in at least one to Apple and they have fixed it under original warranty during first year, no problem.
Since battery seems to be the weak link I was planning on getting AppleCare for my new MBA. However if that is not the covered by AppleCare then I am looking for some pointers/reason why I should even consider AppleCare for my MBA.
If I don't buy it with a MBP, what type of warranty do I get with the MBP? Can I take it to an Apple Store, and does Apple allow me to mail it to them for free? If I do get AppleCare, what do I get? Free Replacements?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI've never purchased AppleCare before, but I notice its alot cheaper from places like ebay and such. My only problem is, how do I know if they're legit? How is the registering process for AppleCare work? Is there anything special I should look for when searching places like ebay? EDIT: Sorry, I'm purchasing it for my MBP, thats why I posted here, sorry if its in the wrong forum.

I bought two macbooks back in 2007 (research funding). One went to a colleague, one to me. Beginning to regret which one I chose! It's been a great machine, but i've had nothing but issues with it:1) Bluetooth issues (dropped connections, bluetooth doesn't exist), wake from sleep problems, macbook wouldn't sleep when closed and turned into a furnace. Solution: Logicboard replaced under applecare, problem fixed. For about a month.Decided not to use the brand new bluetooth mouse/keyboard I bought for another 4-5 months due to bluetooth issues
View 3 Replies View RelatedI bought my Macbook Mid-2007, so it's the one with the Intel GMA945. Since purchase this Macbook has been nothing but trouble, in both hardware and software departments (at one point clicking the bluetooth icon would cause a kernel panic...). Luckily I bought Applecare. The full list of problems that were serviced by my Apple Service Center are as below.
- Cracking all along the oustide of the keyboard, but that's common.
- On my second hard drive, the first died within a few months of purchase.
- Second Superdrive, the first motor died and wouldn't eject discs, nor would it burn dual layer dvd's.
- Motherboard died after a year of use, only time the motherboard was replaced just because of a motherboard problem.
- Motherboard replaced again after the sound card crapped out.
- Motherboard replaced AGAIN after ethernet jack failed.
- Going on my third fan now, hopefully the fan I ordered will arrive tomorrow, the thing sounds like it's tearing apart my poor Macbook. I listen to metal music, and even on max volume the fan is clearly audible. Skype conversations for the other person using the Mac inbuilt microphone are basically unbearable.
With this plethora of problems, would this warrant a replacement by Apple before my Applecare runs out this August? The only problem is I live in China, so I only get 'licensed Apple Service Centers', not an official one. I do travel back to the States often, BUT I'm not sure how well documented these problems were by the Chinese centers.
I am looking to replace my original HHD in my laptop with a new SSD.But i want to know if this will viod my warranty?

So I just bought the extended warranty for applecare for my MBP 13" 1 day before my warranty expires. (I checked my warranty status and it still says I'm covered.) However, I expected it to give me a number right away, but there's none--apparently they mail it. Kinda dumb, but okay. It won't arrive until after the warranty expires. Now, my question is: Can I activate the extended warranty when it arrives or will I be out of luck? I know that they say that you can purchase the warranty within 1 year of purchasing your hardware. However, I want to be absolutely sure, or else I'll be out a couple hundred dollars and have nothing to show for it.

I purchased two different Applecare boxes w/service both are brand new. One is for my mac the other is for a client. Only issue is they both came in the same box and have no indication of which is which. Mine is a Macbook Pro and his is a Mac Mini. Both boxes look identical except on one side the numbers are different. Anyway to tell without opening the boxes, as I need his to look brand new?

I have a base level 1st Gen Unibody 15" Macbook Pro. It has the removable battery and I bought it refurbished online because it was way cheaper. I do have Applecare. A few weeks ago it began randomly turning off. Like I will be doing stuff, have plenty of battery left according to both the software meter and the green lights on the side, then it will click, the screen will turn black and I won't be able to turn it back on.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased a 13" MBP a couple of days ago and got the Applecare protection plan with it. I was in the process of registering it, but I realized that there was no AppleCare Registration Number that came with the box. I read some where that if I bought my MBP with the applecare that it would be automatically registered, but when I tried to check my registration status it said that I didn't have anything registered. My question is, are there any other ways to check if my MBP got registered?
