Hardware :: Airport Snow Configuration With Snow Lepord?

Nov 30, 2010

I've been having many issues with routers working with my new (to me) macbook running Snow Lepord so I bought a new Snow Airport base station off of ebay due to a college students budget... It works great however I need to put a password on it and the configuring tool available from apple which is supposed to work with all of the newer versions of osX doesn't work with snow lepord. I do have a windows vista computer but can't get the configuring utility (4.1/4.2 IIRC) to recognize my router.

OS X :: Snow Leopard Time Machine Backup Stall

Oct 12, 2009

So finally I hooked up an external HD to my iMac 24 to use with Time Machine. My internal drive is partitioned into several sections and the system partition of about 80GB is supposed to be backed up to this eternal drive which is a 500GB, freshly formatted. Setup is easy enough. After Time Machine starts backing up it goes to about 100MB then it stalls. Essentially it keeps running, the turning clock symbol in the menubar is spinning but no data is moved.

At this point I can stop back up and then do click 'Back Up Now' in the menu at which time it will copy a few kb's and then halt displaying '2KB of 60.96GB'. I realize that there must be something on my HD it doesn't like to copy but unlike in my other backup app I don't know how to find that. The Console doesn't tell me much. I have done repeated Repair Permissions but it doesn't help.

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Harddrive Icon On Start Won't Go Away

Mar 12, 2012

This morning when I turned on my Imac, it presented me with the Mac HD icon, I had to select this to continue with the boot.

I've checked the startup options and the correct (and only) drive is selected, re selected it a few times just in case but this didnt have any effect.

Checked that none of my keyboard keys are sticking by unpluging it during the boot so the keyboard couldn't interfere, still the same.

I've tried a pram reset but don't seem to have any joy getting this to work. I hold the correct sequence of keys down just after the chimes ( cmd, option p and r) but that doesn't seem to get me the 2nd chime. Have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Is this a sign my HDD is going? I use the system for a lot of video editing and photo editing, could this amout of usuage cause any problems

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: How To Reformat Entire Harddrive

Jun 23, 2012

I am trying to sell my laptop and recently did a 7-pass erase on the 128GB SSD in my MBA on Snow Leopard.

All went well, including the OS install. When I look at the disc size it shows it at just under 122GB.

What happened to the other 7GB?  How can I be sure I'm not leaving any personal information on it that may be retrieved?

MacBook :: Configuring Installation Stall On New Alu 13"

Jan 29, 2009

Just bought a new aluminum MacBook 2.0 GHz with the stock RAM from my local Apple Store on Saturday for my Girlfriend. I tried to update the software the first night on Dial up and the next morning the progress bar said, Configuring Installation. It was at the same point when I returned later in the afternoon. Today we had high speed internet installed and after I set up the AirPort base station I tried the update and it did the same thing. I repaired permissions through the disc utility and had the TechTool Deluxe CD give it a look over and no issues were found. I used the disc utility from the installation disc to be sure. The same update went just fine on my MBP.

Didn't notice this article before posting. [URL:...] apple on Thursday released an EFI firmware update for 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro mid 2010 models that fixes a freezing or stalling problem. OS X :: Deleting Printer Drivers In Snow Leopard

Sep 10, 2009

After I installed Snow Leopard, I installed all of the printer drivers on the disc. It was a rather hefty size, over 1GB. Is there a way, manually or automatically, to delete all the ones I don't need? I've done a search, and a couple of places (possibly outdated) have pointed me to Library > Printers, and that all the printer drivers should be there. When I do that, I only see the application for my own printer.............

OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: Deleting A User Account On Mac?

Jun 18, 2012

Okay, so a few months ago I was using a tutorial on how to set up a Minecraft server on my Mac, and I went to the part about making a server daemon, which is supposed to have the server automatically running 24/7 from your computer.Well I never got that working and I don't play Minecraft anymore, but when I turn on my computer, at the login screen, it has my main User, then this _minecraft user. The _minecraft user isn't under Accounts in System Preferences, and I looked in the Users folder, it's not there either. This is the tutorial I used to make it if that helps at all [url]

So i bought this new 500GB external HD but whenever i tried to put my files in it from my mac it wont allow me and say, "This item could not be moved because [harddrive] cannot be modified." however if i connect it to my windows it works fine.

P.S just one stupid question, why would a 500GB HD has less capacity such as 470 or so; and sometimes 8GB USB will only have 7.5 G etc.

OS X :: Setting Up An External Harddrive?

Mar 23, 2009

I am not very computer savvy, and new to your community here. (also I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum. this one seemed the most logical, but I wasn't sure.)

Just bought an external harddrive for my MacBook, and my hope was to move my itunes library, photos, and a few essential documents to the external.

what is the easiest way to do this?

Also, after I have everything backed up, I was planning on restoring the computer to factory settings, and enjoy it being "like new" with all my content on harddrive. If I did this, would I still be able to seamless access all the stuff on the external, such as my itunes library? How would this work? Is it even a good idea to restore the computer?
