IMac Intel :: Some Keys On Keyboard Don't Work After Cleaning
I have an iMAC wand a few minutes ago I decided that the keyboard keys needed some wiping, so I did so with one of those special humid towels from "Fellows", apparently designed to wipe clean computer hardware. Perhaps some humidity got to the inner part of the keypad of the Command button, and now it doesn't work. Any hints as to how I can fx this? Does it have to be the apple service? If the wet towel is the culprit, what do you suggest to clean it? (I cleaned it while the computer was on... stupid of me!)

Power Mac G5 :: Aluminum Keyboard Function Keys Not Work
I've been having a problem using my aluminum keyboard with my PMacG4. For one user account (the admin) none of the F-function key work. I think they used to work before I updated to the firmware that came out right after the release of the keyboard. The weird thing however is, that the functions work for all the other users on the machine (3, one of them also admin).
Is there a way to reinstall the firmware, maybe to the prior release. I've tried to get rid of it already, but that won't change anything either.

Power Mac G5 :: New Apple Keyboard Fn Keys Don't Work
Posting this in PowerMac G5 and OSX Tiger as I am not sure if it is a hardware or software issue.

I just recently bought a new aluminium apple keyboard and am very very happy. EXCEPT:

When I first plugged it in, all the hotkeys/fn keys (the default ones such as play/pause/skip track/volume/brightness) all worked fine... but I had 3rd party SizzlingKeys installed... that sprang into life, and suddenly all the Apple default key functions stopped working.

I uninstalled Sizzling keys, trashed all relevent files, restarted... nothing.

Tried to reset them via SystemPreferences... didn't work.

How can I make these come back to life?

Intel Mac :: Lock F Keys On A 27" Wireless Keyboard?
I recently bought a 27" iMac that came with a small wirelss keyboard (without the number pad) and a magic mouse. Two questions:

1) Is there a way to lock the F keys on? I use InDesign a lot and I hate that I have to keep holding the "fn" key down to select F2 (which I have set up to change to the selection tool) or any other F key I have set up as a shortcut.

2) Is there a way to slow down the scrolling speed of the finger method of scrolling? Most of the time I just want to scroll a little bit, not an entire page. I used to use my mouse's scroll wheel and set the speed to slow.

Intel Mac :: Get A New Keyboard And Now The Keys In The Upper Row Are Not Working?
My keyboard stopped working so I went to the apple store to replace it with another one. Now I am back home and the keys at the very top are not working correctly (volumn  F12 shows the dashboard, F11 takes the screen up and away, F8 pause button shows spaces, etc.). What should I do to correct this problem - I assume I probably need to download some type of softwear but what? I have a Mac OS X  Version 10.5.8 desktop - 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Intel Mac :: Aluminum Keyboard Keys Damaged Just Through Normal Usage?
It looks like the surface of a few keys has been eaten away by acid, I can only imagine it has happened because my fingernails touch the keys through normal typing, but this is completely unavoidable unless I type like a one-fingered man.  It mainly seems to happen on the A and S keys, this has happened on my white MacBook, Wireless Aluminium keyboard and Wired Aluminium keyboard, but as they are so expensive to replace I am not willing to buy a whole new keyboard for this.  Also, one of my cmd keys has an odd stain on it, possibly from a crumb or droplet of orange juice which I'm sure I would have wiped off immediately, I wouldn't have expected plastic to stain so easily.  Has anyone else found this with their Aluminium keyboard?

I suppose there's nothing much I can do to prevent it (I refuse to use a silicone cover), so my option appears to be just to replace those keys damaged through wear and tear however I can.  Are the keys interchangeable between these three keyboards?  (Wireless / Wired Aluminium, white 2008 MacBook Core2Duo)  The main keys look the same apart from the bottom row on the Wired Aluminium keyboard which are a bit wider.

Intel Mac :: Volume Keys Not Working On Apple 10-key Keyboard?
After the cat spilled a glass of water on my wireless keyboard I had to get a new one. I asked the folks at my local Apple store both over the phone and in person if the 10-key keyboard (non-wireless) they were going to sell me was compatible with Mac OS X version 10.5.8 (I think I'm Leopard) and they assured me it was. When I hit the volume keys, it initially used the assigned function of the F10, F11, and F12 keys (manipulated the windows and dashboard). I removed those key assignments through system preferences but now the volume keys do absolutely nothing. I tried looking for volume controls through the assignments but couldn't even find them to assign the F10, F11 and F12 keys to them.

OS X Leopard :: Swapping Modifier Keys By Keyboard Does Not Work
At some point, Apple added the ability for the user to configure the modifier keys differently on different keyboards. So you can, for example, swap the Alt and Windows keys on a windows keyboard, but leave them alone for your Mac keyboards. This is great, as I have been frustrated by this for a long time. My only problem is, it has never worked for me!

More specifically:
1. Open Keyboard & Mouse Preferences
2. Choose the Keyboard tab
3. Click the Modifier Keys... button
4. For Select keyboard, choose the keyboard you are currently using.
5. Change some of the key options below. In my case, I changed Option to Command, and Command to Option.
6. Click OK.
7. Try it

Making this change has no effect for me. I've even verified that the changes actually "stick". The only time I'm actually able to change these keys, is if I choose All for Select Keyboard.

IMac Intel :: Aluminum Keyboard Repeat Keys After 10.5.7
I have a white 2.16 Intel Core 2 Duo. I bought an aluminum keyboard for it. After installing 10.5.7 my keyboard repeats keys, delays responses, etc. I thought the keyboard might be bad so I replaced it under warranty. The new keyboard does the exact same thing. The KB is plugged directly into the USB port on back of the imac. Anyone have any thoughts? IMac Intel :: New Keyboard - Function Keys Not Working
Basically, subject line says it all: the functionality keys at the top of the keyboard that have special functions such as brightness control, dashboard, pausing songs, volume control, etc., are not working with my 3 year old iMac. They work perfectly with my new unibody MacBook, so I am going to go out on a limb here and assume that this keyboard isn't compatible with Tiger. (10.4) I can't seem to find an answer confirming this. I've tried the keyboard software update that says specifically version 10.4 on it, yet no dice. I've tried checking and unchecking the function box in the keyboard settings. I don't really know what else to do. Is there no way to make these keys work, or am I going to have to update my operating system just so my keyboard can do basic functions with my iMac.
