Mac Mini :: Capable Of HD Video?

Feb 3, 2009

Im thinking of completing the mac transformation from work and laptop to my home computer, does anyone know, does the mac mini have a good enough graphics card to play HD video thats downloaded, my current PC's graphics card struggles.

I knowits due for revision so going to wait for that. Say the new mini has the same GPU as the current mac book, will that be enough?

Mac Mini :: How Capable Is The Video In The Latest System

Dec 9, 2009

How capable is the video in the latest mac mini? *edit* 2009 2.0ghz 9400m graphics 4gb 1066ram. 128gb ssdI'm looking to offload my 07 mac pro and use my mini for a while whilst I get a little more cash and wait for a good deal on the (aussie) refurb store for a new mac pro. But in the mean time while using the mini I'd like to run my 30" dell at native res, and a 24" dell at native res. Would the vid card on the mini handle this? I don't intend gaming or doing anything hugely graphic intensive.

Mac Mini :: Unable To Get Display Via Tv / Connected Mini DVI To Video Adapter

Mar 28, 2009

Just a warning, I bought a Mac Mini (2009) and wanted it to hook it up to my TV. My TV does not have HDMI or DVI inputs so I bought a Mini DVI to Video adapter from Apple. But I could not get it to work, then I googled for it and it seems this adapter does not work with 2009 Mac's since it does not output an analog signal anymore!

So anyone that wants to hook up his new Mac to an older TV set with the Video adapter, you are warned.I guess i'll have to buy a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter and then a VGA to SVIDEO converter..

Mac Mini :: New Mac Mini - Choppy Video Playback In VLC For Mkv Or Avi Files

Sep 30, 2010

Just bought the new mac mini with HDMI out - 2.66Ghz, 8 Gb RAM, 500 Gb HDD

A lot of mkv or avi files I playback appear pretty choppy in VLC - my primary app for watching movies and tv shows.

I have a Drobo with two 2 TB SATA drives where I store all my stuff and which is connected to my mini via firewire 800.

I've tried playing the same video back from both the Drobo and from the internal hard drive, to see if the choppiness was on account of the external drive or not. No difference really. A choppy video remains choppy from either place.

It's pretty strange because some 1080p videos play just fine, with no choppiness whatsoever, while other 720p videos or even standard definition divx files are still choppy.

OS X :: Is My Imac Capable Of Running Leopard?

Jan 29, 2009

I Have an Imac that is a couple of years old (2006 white). Here is the system profiler specs:

Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac4,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors:1
Total Number Of Cores:2
L2 Cache (per processor):2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: IM41.0055.B08
SMC Version: 1.1f5

My daughter just bought Ilife 09, and while I was reading the requirements, it says it requires OSX 10.5 (Leopard). I am running 10.4.11. I would buy Leopard, but I heard it needs a computer with a minimum bus speed of 867 MHz. It seems to be a domino effect. I would buy it, but I cannot return it opened.

Mac Mini :: Using Both Video Outputs

Apr 13, 2012

I am using both video outputs on the back of the mini, VGA and HDMI. Thes VGA is running to a projector and the HDMI is running to a computer monitor. I am also running Bootcamp WINDOWS 7. When I power up the Mac, the computer monitor goes to sleep and defaults to the projector as the main monitor. If I power on the projector first, before powering the computer on and then power the MAC on, it recongnizes the computer monitor as the default monitor. Why can't the MAC mini recognize the computer monitor(HDMI) as the default when both video outputs are connected?

IMac :: 4850M GPU Be Capable - Install An Intel X25-M G2 SSD

Mar 6, 2010

I have several questions.

My first question is, what will the 4850M GPU be capable of? Say in terms of playing Crysis: Warhead and BFBC2?

My current system is a 08 Mac Pro Octo @ 3.0GHz, 18GB 800MHz RAM, GTX 285, and Intel X25-M G2 SSD, 1920x1200 res on a 23" ACD.

How comparable is the 4850M 512MB to the GTX 285 1GB? Could I play Crysis on medium settings w/ no AA @ 2560x1440?

My second question is, how easily can I install an Intel X25-M G2 SSD? Also will I be able to take the iMac into the store and get them to install the SSD?

My third question is, will I notice much of an improvement over my current system. The iMac has faster RAM, and newer Core i7 processors @ 2.8GHz that turbo up to 3.46GHz.

My fourth question is, when using Parallels 5 Desktop for Mac and configuring a VM I can choose how many processor cores I dedicate to the VM, will it show up as 8 or only 4?

Hardware :: Playing Video On The New Mac Mini?

Mar 4, 2009

I recently have gotten into video, such as downloading .mkv files from Vuze, and .mov and .avi files from various other places. Now that I will be purchasing a Mac mini I hope to watch movies from the iTunes Store. One of the things I hated about my Power Mac G4 500 is that it's slow processor could only play about 45 percent of the videos I had. The rest of the videos I tried either the audio and video would either out of sync, just sputter along, or refuse to play at all. Will the 2.0Ghz processor of the new Mac minis be sufficient for video, or do I need to go with the 2.26 Ghz processor offered in the "build-to-order" option?

Mac Mini :: Powers Up But No Chime Or Video?

I did an PMU reset to no avail. I'm thinking the logic board is done (it's under warranty & I have an appt. with a "genius" tomorrow). Just wondering if there is anything else I should try before I bring it in.
