Final Cut Pro X :: Capable Of Working With Resolution Bigger Than 4k?
Dec 8, 2014
I'm working on a project with a 6k resolution, but whenever I try to import my sequences into Final Cut,everything gets very messy and looks like it was a sequence with a 256 x something resolution. Is FCPX capable of working with resolution bigger than 4k?
I got a Matte screen 2010 MBP. It comes with higher res screen. I personally find the text to be a little bit too small for my liking. Is it possible to uniformly make everything bigger so the higher res only make image and text sharper and not smaller than original resolution?
Wondering if anyone else in here has run across this issue before... I am using a Sony TRV-480 camcorder's pass through function (av-dv) to import a home movie. It seems my new copy of final cut express wont work with my av to dv pass through camera. I called tech support and they suggested I use iMovie to upload the movie then export it to a quick time movie. then import it into final cut express...
I yesterday installed Yosemite and the previous version of Final Cut Pro does not work with it. When I try to install the latest version of Final Cut Pro from the purchased tab in the app store, I get the message: "Final Cut can't be installed on this computer because it requires at least 4 GB of memory". When I go to the storage tab in "About This Mac", it shows that I have 154.49 GB free of 319.21 GB.
I have a clip, keyed it out and am now placing a background image Ive used dozens of time. When I drag the gaussian blur over the top of the background clip I usually get a tool that comes up to how much blur to apply. Cant get it to do that now and have no clue how to use it different to get the adjustment to come up.
What can be done to get the chroma keyer working correctly? All the tutorials I saw show how good it can be, but I don't get it right. In the attached images you see the chroma key on and off. The chroma keyer obviously picks the blue instead of the green. Any way to change that?
I have final cut express and ive been watching videos on youtube on how to chroma key with my green screen videos and I follow everything but the video on the side of the chroma key opetions just doesnt do anything atall. I have the picture that I want to use right under my video and I just cant seem to get it to work. If so tell me what i am possible doing wrong or not clicking/checking off or give me a detailed explanation on how to do it properly if possible.
An issue arose today with our new MacPro/FCPX/SNS EVO SAN combo.
When importing media from a portable drive using FCPX in “copy files” mode, with the Library’s media folder residing on the SAN, FCPX imports but does not copy the media. The clip appearing in the browser is still linked to the original file.
If the clip is of a codec that can be optimized and the option in the import window is ticked, only the optimized media is copied to the SAN volume.
Renders work, writing to a dedicated NAS volume, Exports work too, writing to another dedicated Exports NAS volume.
I am stumped. I have never seen FCPX behave this way. The strange thing is that at no time does it indicate any problem with the copying process not succeeding…
Because the optimized media is created on the volume I would imagine this is probably more of an OS/FCPX issue but I don’t know enough about the processes in the mac to be sure of that.
OBTW: Trashed the prefs, with both Pref Manager and alt+cmd at launch.

I purchased Snapz Pro X to record screen capture footage for a project I am doing. After recording the .mov files I imported them into FCP and edited together a sequence along with music and titling. Unfortunately in the output video the footage looks compressed and fuzzy. I have the project resolution set to an HD setting, but I'm still getting a fuzzy looking screen shot. What is the proper way to import screen captures into FCP and how do I export them without loosing resolution.
I am using Final Cut Pro and I want to use the waveform tool to optimise the saturation of my videos (2 feeds from different camera angles that are not balanced yet).
The Histogram works fine, but the vectorscope and the waveform view just display a bunch of junk. It does not look anything like what I see in the instruction manual. I attach a screenshot so you can see what I currently see.

I can't make the left/right audio edge command working. I set it up in my custom way but any command I set for it, it doesn't work here (if I type the command the audio clip is simply deselected).

Just updated to 10.1.2 and now the letterbox effect is not visible if i view in full screen but is working in normal interface viewer.
Instead if I keep a png cinema-scope 2:35:1 on top of all the layers... in normal viewer its fine. but if i view in full screen (viewer) the cinemascope does not work on the top and only on the bottom it is visible in unusual size...
1440x900 resolution of the new MacBook Air 13.3" screen is simply too high, making everything way too small and straining on my eyes. Is there a replacement LED LCD panel with a lower resolution (1280x800 like the old MBA) that could be retrofitted?
It is clear there are people who love their high-res antiglare display; the ability to have more pallets open in Photoshop, see more of what you are doing in Logic. However, there is a fair few of us who dislike the high-res because of decreased fonts, smaller graphical interface things.if you had the choice to go for a high-res or normal res antiglare 15", what would you go for?
i am using a hackintosh for a week now. I am using it just to get used to Mac OS X because i am switching to a Macbook Pro in a couple months. I switched from PC to Mac officially now. OK, let's come to the main topic of this thread;-At first, my hackintosh couldn't get my gfx card, i couldn't find the driver(kext) so my resolution was very bad. Everything was huge and blurry. I couldn't even look at my 17" Samsung LCD screen. I made an entry to file which was something like this
Who has actually played games on BOTH the 2010 high res and standard res macbook pros?Reading through that gaming benchmark thread isn't much of an indicator as most people don't post their resolution and if they have they have only played on one or the other.Im trying to get a better indicator on the performance difference with newer games. Are we talking 2-6 fps drop or 10-20 or more?
For those who would like to try adapt to hi-res screen of the 15'' but the not sure if they can, if they can't adapt to the hi-res, it's possible to set the resolution to 1440x900 with no appearence differences from the standard res screens? So the appearence and quality of the hi-res screen set to 1440x900 is the same of the standard res screen?
So i'm trying to figure out the best resolution for using my macbook pro in clamshell mode. I think ever since i installed snow leopard the new resolution choices i have are not longer pixel x pixel, but actual TV resolutions, such as 1080i, 720p, 420p. In the past I've used SwitchResX to do custom resolutions for my tv but that dosnt seem to work anymore.
I'm trying to find a resolution where text is easy to read. 1080i looks pretty but text is extremely small. 720p the text is larger and easy to see but is very fuzzy and not easy on the eyes. I guess this has something to do with the pixels on a tv being farther apart than that of a computer monitor. It's a 32" LCD TV. I'm using a DVI to HDMI cable (Non-Unibody Macbook Pro).
Im thinking of completing the mac transformation from work and laptop to my home computer, does anyone know, does the mac mini have a good enough graphics card to play HD video thats downloaded, my current PC's graphics card struggles.
I knowits due for revision so going to wait for that. Say the new mini has the same GPU as the current mac book, will that be enough?
I just read the seed notes for Snow leopard latest build and when reading what I can test 64 bit apps with seems pretty much any mac in -08 and -09 except (!) MBA and minis.
Any idea why?
I thought at least the MBA rev B would be 64-bit capable...?
My apologizies if this has been discussed but if so I have missed it.
I would like to update my MacBook Pro 5,1 with two 2GB modules to 4GB. The current RAM is running on 1066MHZ but the new modules at my computer place are only available with SO-DIMM 2GB DDR3 1333MHz.
Would the MacBook Pro 5,1 work with two SO-DIMM 2GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM modules too?
I Have an Imac that is a couple of years old (2006 white). Here is the system profiler specs:
Model Name: iMac Model Identifier: iMac4,1 Processor Name: Intel Core Duo Processor Speed: 2 GHz Number Of Processors:1 Total Number Of Cores:2 L2 Cache (per processor):2 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 667 MHz Boot ROM Version: IM41.0055.B08 SMC Version: 1.1f5
My daughter just bought Ilife 09, and while I was reading the requirements, it says it requires OSX 10.5 (Leopard). I am running 10.4.11. I would buy Leopard, but I heard it needs a computer with a minimum bus speed of 867 MHz. It seems to be a domino effect. I would buy it, but I cannot return it opened.
I read some articles that stated the new 3x3 AEBS and TC were only capable of 300 Mbps, those reporta are wrong, I bought a new AEBS and have that setup as my new router and I have a new TC setup to extend my Wireless N network they are showing in the Airport Utility speeds between 400 and 450 Mbps look at the first device in the list.
I attempted to google this however I got some mixed results. However I do think that most of the reviews that I was reading was from older Mac Mini models.
I want to get a Mac Mini for a Media Center for my TV. I have alot of iTunes HD TV shows and movies, as well as various Blu-Ray and Downloaded 1080p .mkv rips. I play them fine on my Mac Pro w/ VLC... was wondering how the Latest Gen Mac Mini handles it?
I work with remote equipment using web gui for management, When I try to acces them with safari I get the message "Viewing this page requires a browser capable of displaying frames". I need to be able to use safari as I have an Ipad and I get the same message. How can I do this?
