OS X V10.6 Snow Leopard :: "you Do Not Have Java Download Client Enabled"
Apr 26, 2012
I installed the Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8. Since that time I've had problems with WebEx and a file transfer site I use. WebEx gives me a "Sorry, you do not have java download client enabled." everytime I try and start or join a meeting in Safari, Chrome, and FireFox. The file transfer site won't let me log in using either Safari or Chrome. I've been able to log in using FireFox, but I haven't tested if everything is work all right. I went to the Java preferences app and changed the order or 32/64 bit. I also thought perhaps some cached files could have been corrupted so I deleted the cached files. But other than that it doesn't seem like there is anything there that does much.Â

The latest software update for Mac OS X (10.6.8) upgraded the version of java from Apple and broke an application used for work. Are the previous or older versions of java available from Apple for download?Â
For future updates, Is there a way to modify the software update process to install the the new version but leave the old version in place?

I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2Â and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for exampleÂ
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.Â
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.Â
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.
now the only way to run applets is through a web browser. Â Is java applet developement in 10.6 really over?

how I know if Java is enabled on my Mac? I'm getting confused as some of the programs I've bought need Java to be running, but information on the Java Tester Website indicates it is not necessarily encouraged by Apple. Copy of information from Java Tester Website below: "April 3, 2012Important security updates issued. See More than 600,000 Macs infected with Flashback botnet andJava update for OS X patches Flashback malware exploit. Mac users running OS X 10.5 Leopard should not use Java, because Apple has stopped supporting Java on Leopard. The last version of Java for OS X 10.5 has known bugs that will not be fixed. Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7 updates Java to 1.6.0_31Java for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion 2012-001 updates Java to v1.6.0_31"Â
I don't know what to do here. Do I not install Java - assuming it isn't already installed (and that raises another question, how do I find out if it is installed?)Â Â It seems that not having it installed is affecting the ability of certain programs to run on my Mac, so is there an alternative program I could use? My Mac is OS X Version 10.7.4.Â

I am having problem with post processing a simulation. Every time I hit the "plot parameter" button within the software I get the same error. Opening the file on a windows machine works perfectly fine, therefore I have tried updating the Java through "Software update" and still no luck. Â

I have a OD domain that I've been adding systems too, and I've just about got it dialed in. Now I'd like to enable a global password policy, and I'm curious what actually happens when I flip the switch in Server Admin > Open Directory > Settings > Policies > Passwords? If I set a "reset every 90 days" option, is that from the time the policy is enabled, or from the time the user account was created? If I set a "must have one letter" or "numeric character", etc...and the user doesn't currently have a password that matches this criteria, will they be forced to set a new password immediately, or the next time one is initiated? Basically what I'm trying to figure out is how many support tickets I'm going to have, and (almost more importantly) when. 10.6 Aluminum iMac w/wireless keyboard and trackpad.Working fine long-term, no recent change to the h/w or system software. All of a sudden pointing started operating as if permanently in mouse-down state. In Finder, this means that the mouse would move around the last-selected object. It is impossible to put the object down and so impossible to operate the Mac. Restart doesn't help.I turned off the wireless devices, replaced the wireless keyboard and trackpad with old, wired keyboard and mouse, and restarted. Normal operation was restored. Tried putting back the the keyboard, but pointing was disabled the instant I re-enabled Bluetooth. Now stuck permanently as if in mouse-up state, so impossible to operate. Fail.Temporarily OK with wired keyboard and mouse. Ihow to return the system to wireless keyboard and trackpad operation?

As above really! Its really frustrating. It bounces in the dock as though it is about to start. It then brings up a box that asks if I would like to report it to Apple, which naturally I do.Â
My friend suggested uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its no good!Â
Its ever since the update to Java. Anyone else had similar problems?Â

Is there a command to force time sync on Snow Leopard machines? I have lots machine which are joined to windows domain controller using third party utility (AdmitMac by Thursby). Even though under Day & Time system preference, I have set the machine to sync to our server but machine are still not correcting the time.Â
I have tried following methods to force the machines to sync: I have manually selected the machine to sych with Apple but that does not change the time at all (even after couple of reboots)Changing the date and time to something completely different (year, month and day) then rebooted machine then force it back to our server but that does not change machine time either.Only thing which has worked so far is that I have manually adjusted that time to match the next working machine. All of this has caused me lot of trouble in Mac labs because machine will not allow anyone to login and I have remove it from the domain and then re-join back.

I've been having some troubles, all of which occurred after installing Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 7. Here are two I've found so far:Â
1. Terminal takes quite a long time to open new tabs.Â
2. Quicksilver hangs (and eventually crashes) when I try to type any type of text to search.Â
When the applications hang, no keyboard input is accepted in any application, though it is possible to use the mouse to move windows. how to revert back to Update 6?

I'm doing technical support for mac users of our java application. One user's problem is that the app doesn't launch. At first, I thought his version of java is not updated but told me that it is updated based on the Software Update. Then I thought the problem's here is that the JRE's not turned on so I made him open the Java Preferences. But sadly, this doesn't open too. I made him gave me the logs on the Console to check the error.

Im having problem problems all over Lion Server. I can't manage Profile Manager on client machines..nothing authenticates. So I thought I would rebuild the Open Directory replica functions....however in recreating an Open Directory I get an error.
"Cannot replicate a directory with augment user records. Your server cannot become a replica of 'server.com' because its directory contains augment user records. Please refer to the Open Directory Administration Guide for more information about this issue."
How do I get rid of the augment users records? By the way..I set this server up per Lynda Lion Server essential training. Part of the server functions with File Sharing and users accessing folders..but Profile Manager does not authenticate on client machines.

After being threatened to get hacked, I've decided to clear out all the emails on the mailserver (gmail's online mail client). But before I do, is there a way to download all the emails from my mail server from all time? I only set Leopard's Mail client up on March 8th, so I only have emails from March 8th and after on Leopard. I want to have email from since I registered my Gmail account years ago.

I can't install Java update, not via 'software update', nor via download from Apple support site. Always get error message at 'writing scripts', even with the camera update. Same thing happens when trying to re-install Adobe flash-player, which I had uninstalled after virus threat. Seems I can't install anything anymore. I had previously uninstalled everything Java in Safari and run Mackeeper duplicate eraser.

I recently uninstalled transmission the bitTorrent client. I did this because it was taking too long and was told uninstalling it and reinstalling it might help. When I went to reinstall it nothing happened. I clicked on the download button and the screen moved on to a plain white screen with the words transferring data at the bottom, the cursor had its little egg timer thing but it just sat there for ages. Nothing happened and after a few minutes I tried another client, same thing happened again. Or is it just me making a fool of myself? I use max OS X 10.4.11 and my ISP is bt.
