im in final cut express and im getting black bars on the top and bottom please help me get rid of these. Im shooting with my new camera with 720p and final cut is automatically doing the letterbox thing with the black bars on the top and bottom.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 19-inch Envision EN9410e LCD flat panel monitor. Right now I did a mirror display setup. The native resolution of this monitor is 1280 x 1024. When I went to System Preferences to change it to that resolution my LCD monitor shows the Snow Leopard desktop but it's in the middle of two black bars. I had to revert to 1024 x 768 resolution to not have the black bars show. Is there a way I can change it to the native resolution and not have the black bars on the top and bottom show up on the screen?

I have a MacBook Pro 15" and my father has 17", both 2007 model.
I bought a new Samsung XL2370 external monitor (1920 x 1080) for my notebook. When I connect it to the 17" model, it works fine and gives me the full picture.
However, when I connect it to my 15" MBP, even at 1920 x 1080, the display gets cropped on two sides with black bars.
If I change the resolution to 1680 x 1050, then the whole screen is filled. But if I put it to 1920 x 1080, this happens.
I've an early 2008 macbook Pro with geforce 8600 graphic cards.Since a few days i've problems with it, during a session my screen become a little green and pink and I've sometime the kernel panic message.When i restart, i've green and black bars on the screen, the apple is not in the middle and the mac freeze.I can't start with the recovery, even on the usb recovery disk, because after the choice of the recovery, the mac begin and freeze.I've ever try to begin in single user mode with fsck -fy command, sometime it resolve the problem but now nothing at all.

where suddenly all apps scrollbars turns black and the mouse/keyboard hangs for a few second then they reappears and mouse/keyboard are working again. View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm doing a quick promo. I recorded a rough script VO, organised my clips and music.
I then had the professional voiceover artist record a revised script.
However, I can't simply replace my original script as we have added a couple of things. What I would have done under 7 is lock the background music and video clips in place, remove the VO timeline, and then replace each bit separately. However, I can't do that because the video clips have connected themselves to each other.
I also have shuffled a couple of things around so need to keep the video the same, but move the audio to a different part. I can move the video without moving the audio, but I can't move the audio without moving or deleting the video.
A few times a day the top and bottom of my screen flash black quickly - not even a full second. what it could be, or if I can figure what it is? I ran the Apple Care TechT tool and nothing came up wrong - I have the 2.4Ghz 15" (unibody)

It's normal for magic mouse bottom black stripes to show wear and tear after constant use. Actually I am very worried to lose my expensive and wonderful mouse forever because of these "soft plastic" stripes.

My mac was being very, very slow so I turned it off, then as it it was booting it was taking ages so i restared in safe mode. While booting in safe mode the black bar at the bottom goes around 2/5 of the way across and then my macbook just switches off.Ive tried:fsckdisk utility repair/verifyreinstalling OS X Lion
When i tried to repair, it said i needed to erase everything and reinstall the OS. Last night when i tried to it said both drives are locked so i couldnt. And now when i just tried again, neither drivers are appearing; the box is just blank.
Let alone my livelyhood on the laptop, i have thousands and thousands pictures which if lost, would genuinley heartbreak me. I have much valuable data on my laptop and i really dont want to erase all data, because me being the gigantic fool that i am, i only have one time machine back up from about a year and a half ago.

after color balancing a clip I get a flickering border on top and bottom of my clips, visible in timeline and also after rendering. It's easy to see in this clip (starts around 15 seconds in): URL....
If I remove the color balance it will go away. I wonder if it has to do with the source clip being in 1080i instead of p. The preceding clip is also color balanced but is in 1080p. It's less noticeable but sometimes still there when other color correction is invoked. I'm using a late 2013 Haswell 27 in iMac with 8gb ram.

I import clips from a flash memory drive (the one attached to Sony NX5U camera). The drive is connected with USB cable. All clips imported are fine except one. The problematic one is in the AVCHD category in the browser and has a little camera icon on the bottom left of it's thumbnail. I cannot share the project containing that clip (there is a message that says:''this Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera''). What does that icon mean and how do I import the clip properly ? I tried importing the clip again and it does the same thing...

I just bought my macbook pro 13 inch about a 40 days ago and I have just noticed two small black dots on the on the bottom of the screen near the left side of my dock. I have done some research and they seem to be "dead pixels" They're really small but for the price I payed i didnt expect any problems. What are some suggestions to get rid of them or if i should contact tech support? Here are two pictures of the dots: They kinda change colour when i move my head around.. Not sure if theyre dead pixels or not.

I was editing in FCPX and all of a sudden a few clips in my timeline went black. What I mean by that is when I played them back, they were completely black. It was like the footage had gone missing. You name it, I tried all of the obvious things to do from here on in; I replaced and re-timed the footage with a fresh I/O grab from the clips panel. I tried reimporting the clip. I tried re-linking to the source file. I tried re-creating optimised media. Nothing worked. The only thing that worked was transcoding the footage in a different problem with a different filename and then reimporting and then replacing that with the black clip.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a desperate friend who created about an hour long slide show in iPhoto using "Vintage Prints" theme --it has a black background with photos getting dropped in. There are four segments she wants me to edit together for the whole show for her daughter's graduation party. Is there any way to get rid of that black background and replace it with a solid color background or texture? I have tons of animated textures and backgrounds but I can't figure out how to bring them to the rescue since the .mov is already created...I thought of keying but 'black' isn't the new chromakey blue or green thought of a garbage mask but the shapes of the photos and collages dropping in are not constant..
I didn't see a way in iPhoto to convert that black background to white or color either.

I have a lot of projects, I go to browser filmstrip view -- some projects have thumbnail images as a reference, others just black.
Is there a way to set the thumbnail/poster image for individual projects filmstrips? Or a way to reset the project somehow so that it grabs an image from a project's video and uses that as a reference poster frame?
It's nice having visual cues of a projects content in the browser window and it's driving me crazy that 1/2 of my project's show up as black.

I have a MacBook Pro with the 9600gt in it. Since updating to 10.6.4 this morning 2 times while playing java games i've had the bottom half of my screen go black and most of the top half flicker. I've had to hold in the power button and reset both times. The second time I closed the screen and reopened it, the screen was black but no mouse and nothing moved.
Any advice? Would this be something to do with my graphics card or possibly some error in 10.6.4?Edit:: This is software related to 10.6.4 update and only happens when I open up a java game in a browser.
I have a mac running OS X 10.4 We have one netgear router in the house where I work and various different things connecting to it. You'll have to forgive me, all my computer knowledge is based around systems running windows and while I enjoy my mac and can use it for work this technical stuff baffles me. I've just been given my own office. When in there, door open my airport fluctuates between 2 and 4 bars but web pages just don't seem to load, eventually timing out. I'm probably only about 30ft from the router but there are walls (and a mirror) in the way. Could this be the problem. From home I brought something in called Wi-Fire, it's a massive wireless dongle that has a range of 1000 ft. Would it? If so then how the hell do I get it to work on my mac laptop?

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I just got my MacBook, mainly for school. The wireless service at my school requires a username and password so I went to the place and paid the 10 bucks for it. They said when you open up "Internet Explorer" (I chuckled) that a window would come up asking for your permission to continue or whatever and then you have to put in your username and password. When I join the network in Airport it says I have full bars however when I open up Safari or Firfox it instantly says that I'm not connected. What can I do so that it will ask me for my username and password so I can actually use the internet? I have gotten to the page where it asks me for my username and password before but I hadn't yet set up an account so I just exited out. Now I can't even get to that page! Hopefully there are some people out there that use the same type of wireless service at their college...

Windows is completely updated, all boot camp drivers are updated, everything.
