Dec 11, 2014
I downloaded Motion from the App Store and never downloaded additional content. But when I go to the Motion Menu, the "download additional content it grayed out. Why? And I can not find any changes, why? Or shouldn't I download the additional content from App Store?

Some hard drives have a motion sensor in them. These are NOT supposed to be in MacBook/Pro's as the Macs have its own Sudden Motion Sensor. If your MBP has both, they could be conflicting with each other. Try this simple test to see if the problem goes away: (if you're not adventurous, don't proceed)
[URL]
<<To disable the Sudden Motion Sensor:
Find the current status of Sudden Motion Sensor:
(log in as administrator)
1. From the Finder's Go menu, choose Utilities.
2. In the Utilities folder, open Terminal.
3. When the command line appears, type sudo pmset -g and press Return.
4. Type in the administrator password when prompted and hit Return. This command queries the computer for the current setting of the Sudden Motion Sensor, which you can determine by locating the ams entry (in Mac OS X 10.3) or the sms entry (in Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5) and looking to the right to determine its value. The default setting is "1" (turned on). 0 means off.
Disabling the Sudden Motion Sensor in Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5:
1. In Terminal, which should still be open from the previous step, you can disable the Sudden Motion Sensor by typing sudo pmset -a sms 0 and pressing Return (changing the setting to a zero disables the module).
2. Type your administrator password when you are prompted and press Return.
3. Type the sudo pmset -g command again to be sure that the setting has been applied.
Any changes that you make to the Sudden Motion Sensor setting remain in effect even after you restart the computer. If you choose to disable the Sudden Motion Sensor, Apple recommends that you re-enable it as soon as possible in order to take full advantage of the feature.
To re-enable the Sudden Motion Sensor:
Find the current status of Sudden Motion Sensor:
1. From the Finder's Go menu, choose Utilities.
2. In the Utilities folder, open Terminal.
3. When the command line appears, type sudo pmset -g and press Return. Type your administrator password when you are prompted and press Return. If you have the Sudden Motion Sensor turned off, the value of the ams entry (in Mac OS X 10.3) or sms entry (in Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5) will be a zero (0). >>

I have a little problem with Iphoto. I imported like many photos into Iphoto, it created an event and now I want to organize the photos in my event manually (and only in my event, not in any new iphoto folder or so, and without like renaming the photos manually). In presentation / organize there is a button for "organize manually", but on all the computers that I have at home, that button is grey so I can't click on it (and therefore it's impossible to organize the photos manually)

Control-click has stopped working for me in Safari 5's content area.
It works fine when clicking on Safari's toolbars and it also works fine in every other app including Finder.
A complete reinstall of Safari 5 didn't solve the problem.
I tried deleting every preference file and cache file I could find but that didn't help. And fixing various permissions and other things in Onyx had no effect.

My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?

I had to dissassemble my wireless Mighty Mouse to clean it properly, as the trackball was unable to scroll up and down. As I had cleaned the trackball, I attached the two internal cables to their respective "slots" again and assembled the mouse.
Now my right button does the same as the left button (right click = left click). I tried dissassembling the mouse again, but I cannot see what I could have done wrong. After all, there are only two cables to attach and de-attach inside it.

I just bought a mighty mouse, happy as I was, plugged it in and started my ibook running OS X 10.3.9.I know the mighty mouse shouldn't have full functionality (as the software delivered with it is >10.4.2).The problem is that the right click doesn't work right. When I try to right click it sometimes takes the right click, sometimes takes it as a left click (which is extremely annoying in firefox or finder).
I have SteerMouse (I'm a windows/linux user too) installed but when I denstalled it the problem remained.
When I plugged the mighty mouse in my pc (at that time running windows) right click just worked. When using a cheap mouse (from pleomax) the right click on the ibook (with Steermouse installed) works all the time.
I find this al really confusing. Seems like it can't be the hardware because it works on windows, but it can't be the software because another mouse does work.
I noticed that when right clicking at the total right side near the "expose-button" (not a position my fingers lay naturally) right click works all the time. I don't hope this is normal?

Well I have my Mac Pro on order and should be at the dealer this week. He suggested that I wait to see what 1TB HD Apple uses in the computer before I order additional HD's so that they will match. I know they will be WD drives according to everything I have read here and should be Caviar Black. I can't fault him for wanting to be cautious so that the computer will work well for me.
My question is does anyone have any issues with the additional WD Caviar Black HD's that they have been adding to their Mac Pros?

I'm somehow obsessed with the idea of putting more than four 3.5" drives into my Mac Pro. Right now, all four sleds are occupied plus there is one WD Raptor in the lower ODD bay (-> one onboard SATA-connector still available).
My last idea was to use the case of an old CD-drive to mount two 3.5" HDs on it at right angle and customize the ODD sled to make the connectors accessible, so that the result would be similar to transIntl's Pro Caddy 2 (which is simply too expensive for what it does)
Unfortunately, 3.5" drives are just slightly too long to fit into a CD-drive case at right angle...
My current idea is to attach an additional drive to one of the drives on the sleds by connecting the two drives with two thin sheets of metal utilizing their screw holes on the sides (see attached image, just a sketch, not a masterpiece of art ).
Now the question is whether there is enough room between the drive on the sled and the one on the next sled to fit in the metal sheet and a screw. I can't remember right now and my Mac is busy at the moment; it would be a slight pain to draw it out anyway, disconnecting all the cables etc.
Does anybody happen to have their Mac Pro open right now to take an inspecting look...? Or any experience concerning such enterprises - I mean except using cable ties , this is not about mounting an SSD but a full-grown hard disk.

I'm thinking of adding another Hard Drive to my Powermac, I'm looking for 7200rpm, and somewhere upwards of 300GB. At present I just have the 160GB stock drive in it. So here are a few questions;
How often are HDD's updated by manufacturers, and should I perhaps wait till the next major update to get a bit better value.
Brands, I hear seagate, western digital are good, i'd be glad to hear others opinions though.
I'm thinking of using the additonal HDD as a place to store my collection of DVD's (mostly in divX format) as well as using it to record TV to (it comes in as a DV stream, so need ~13GB/hour of TV. So it isnt really urgent that I get it now, but I'm thinking sometime in the next few months.

I am getting ready to install a second (500 GB) hard drive in my Power Mac G5, and I was wondering how it will show up. I want to install OS X and all of my Apps on my 250 GB HD, that is already in the computer, and put all media and documents on the 500 GB. Will the additional HD mount on the desktop, light an external HD does?
How would I go about doing this?
