OS X :: Click On A Download From Safari It Sends To The URL?
Aug 11, 2010
Whenever I click on a download from Safari (and maybe other browsers too), it sends me to the URL and doesn't download for me. Instead, i have to right click and use " Download Linked File". What can I do so I can click and download??
When I click on a link on any web page, a "bubble" travels across the screen and "enters" the history icon. I then have to open History to find the link and then click on it. It then moves to a tab under the bookmarks bar and I have to click on that in order to open the link. This problem started suddenly today, several weeks after I upgraded to OS X Lion. Everything was fine before. My Safari is version 5.1.3.
I bought Lion 10.7 and its move to purchasing icon. But the problem that i faced its first time failed to download, then i redownload it again but the buttom it blank I cant click on it to download it. I restart and shut down my laptop but still are the same. and my account they deduct the amount of the program.

My workflow entails repetitive tasks that would be so much easier if I could set Leopard's (Safari's) default double-click functionality to select ALL text within the Google search box instead of having to use a triple-click. Does anyone know how to make this change to Leopard/Safari?
The same links work when i access them from the same internet connection on my windows destop computer, the only download links that would work when clicked are rapidshare ones, even apple.com links do not work i often have to use save link as sometimes i do not get that option..
I downloaded Motion from the App Store and never downloaded additional content. But when I go to the Motion Menu, the "download additional content it grayed out. Why? And I can not find any changes, why? Or shouldn't I download the additional content from App Store?

Often when I click on a weblink, Safari tries to load the new page, but nothing. The web address shows up in the bar at the top, but no response. It happens often. But, even when I'm having trouble, navigating around in some closed community like Facebook works fine, so it's not an internet connection problem. (I thought it was a connection problem at first--poor wiring?--but since I can move around in Facebook, I'm dismissing that.) Also, it happens both when the computers are connected through the routers or directly via Ethernet to the AT&T U Verse modem.
This started when we switched from Comcast cable to AT&T, but there have been numerous Safari updates since then. I don't really think it is a Safari problem. The only PC on the home network doesn't show this problem (but it is an older, slow PC); both Macs on the network exhibit the problem. Happens whether we use the ethernet network or go wireless (non-Apple routers).
Can I preview a URL on Safari before I click it? (for example, see the URL of a picture without having to right click it. I would like to see the URL by simply putting my mouse over the pic)
Probably you know the context menu on highlighted word in Safari, which gives us the options like "Search in Spotlight", "Search with Google", Look up in Dictionary" .. Do you know if there is a way I can add more search options in the same context menu?
since I updated to Safari 5, the right-click does not work anymore. Not in textareas, not on selected Text or anywhere on a page. It is working when I right-click the Bookmarks on Bookmarks-Bar above the tabs.
After updating last night I now find that on most sites I am unable to click and copy text. Not all sites, it works on Wiki but for example on this page I am unable to copy "Communities" from the top of the page. Nor can I click and copy from this post as I compose.
I have been using this hint but since I updated to Safari 4 Beta its not possible to close tabs with middle click anymore, but I can still open links with it.
hope someone knows about this, I failed in figuring out myself
Safari has the Zoom-In function, standart hotkey 'cmd+', and I want my mouse to do that by cmd+scrolling. I use the app 'SteerMouse' for making my mouse's special buttons work, but I couldn't find an option to combine a mouse action (i.e. 'scrolling') with a keyboard key (i.e. cmd).
Just purchased a new MacBook Air for my wife. While it is a huge step-up from the previous macbook, we've run into a very frustrating problem. Every now and then Safari will no longer accept any click on links or the ability to enter data into fields. You tap and click and it's like a brick wall--no response. We've tried forcing a refresh of that page, still won't work. If I quit Safari and then go back to the page, it's works. But unless I quit the app, it just remains an unclickable webpage.
Any thoughts?? I've never encountered this before and it is hard to duplicate as it is not consistent with specific sites or work flow.
Whenever I open Safari and click the green orb instead of resizing the window it just makes the window go behind and underneath the dock, and if I click the green orb again it resizes it correctly, but the same thing happens again if I close and then open Safari..I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro... just in case it makes a difference.
Every time I click on Safari nothing happens (macbook pro). Could it possibly be open in a hidden window? I have force quit, tried to reopen, tried to open in finder...nothing is working for me.
I have a Macbook with a GMA 950 video card, so the S-Video/Video out should work. I bought a mini-DVI to S-Video adapter, then tried connecting both S-Video, as well as composite cables to my television.
The Macbook detects the adapter (NTSC/PAL shows up in Display Preferences), but the television receives no signal. I've tested the television's input using another device and it's fine.
So there seem to be two possibilities:
I have a shoddy adapter. (I'm hoping this isn't true, because it's a pain to return. It is, however, brand new)
There is something wrong on the software end. Any suggestions?
I'm running Tiger 10.4.11. I'm unsure of the exact purchase date, but it's a Core Duo 1.8, so it should be around 2007.
Edit: SOLVED. I had to switch the setting from PAL to NTSC. Once I did that, it seems to now work with the composite cable. That said, it DOES not work with S-Video. This may be because my S-Video cable is shoddy or the port for the adapter does not work. That said, everything seems okay, now.
my son got on my computer, and now when i use expose, as soon as I release the buttons, the exposed windows zip off the screen. The whole perimeter of the screen is shaded as well. I have to click on the app in the dock to get the window back, or on the edge of the window. It is very annoying. I can't see any changes he could have made in preferences. (He is not even 2.)
Using mail is great. My default web browser is Firefox. But when I click links in my mail they open in safari. Is there a way to make it open in a new firefox window or tab if firefox is already running?
When I perform a Google search and click on any of the links that show up, Safari will always open that very link in the same window. How to make Safari open each link I click in a new tab?
When going to a linked page in Safari I usually want to open it in a new tab or a new window and occasionally to do other things with it. So I'm used to right-clicking on links to bring up a contextual menu offering me:
Open Link in New Window Open Link in New Tab Download Linked File Download Linked File As... Add Link to Bookmarks...
Copy Link: I noticed the loss of this menu when my wife wanted me to look at web pages she had found related to a possible holiday. Using Safari in her account on our iMac, I found no menu appeared when I right-clicked on a link. I checked she had the "secondary button" set up OK in the mouse preferences and I also found right-clicking worked OK elsewhere. I then tried other ways of making the menu appear on a link (CTRL-clicking or holding down the left, primary button); neither worked!................
I have Mac OS 10.4.11, and Safari 3.2.1. Safari crashes if I try to Cmd-click a link to get it to open in a new tab or right-click a bookmark and choose to open it in a new tab or a new window. It did not do that before I got the Safari update. I also cannot seem to get any content into more than 3 tabs without it crashing. Is there any way to fix it?
is there any way to remove this. i just want to click on a result on google for it just to open in the same tab. i have looked at the peferences and have tried a few options but i could not figure it out?
Why am I having trouble receiving attachments from my husband's computer. He sends me an email with an attachment; when I open the email, the attachment is not there. It happens all the timer. Both of us are using OS X version 10.4.11.
I am using Mac Mail with three Gmail accounts. Very frequently, I'll send an email from one account and when the reply arrives, it comes to one of the other accounts. This is making it very hard to segregate personal and business emails.
