MacBook :: Working On A Webpage And Light Colours Show Up As White?
Nov 21, 2009
With my macbook (my module is in my sig) Colors are not true i am working on a webpage and light colours show up as white but on other computers and monitors it works fine.
My MacBook pro charger port isnt working. I use my charger for my sisters laptop and it works therefore indicating that the charger isn't the problem but when I charge my laptop it shows a faint green light but not charging! It's cause water spilled on my laptop the day before but it was not a lot & I let it to dry but everything works well except from the charger port!
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
I've begun to notice a ring, roughly three inches in diameter, in the middle of my Air, Rev C, Screen. It is a white ring, a couple of millimeters thick, that I can see best behind an all white screen, i.e. a blank page of a word processing document.

Anyone seen anything like this before. I can actually see part of it right on the white of the page I am typing in this thread.
My friend's MacBook Air crashed. It blacked out, and turned off. Now, when he presses the power button, he gets a beep, and that's it. the white LED light also doesn't flash. It's a short, soft beep.
So this morning I woke up and went to press the power button of my Macbook, but nothing happened. I noticed that there is no white IR light and the fan doesn't respond. I checked the battery, it was at full. The power cable was also green when i plugged it into the Macbook. However, it still wouldn't turn on.
Just a general comment, I use the Macbook as a printer server and to browse the internet, so nothing intensive is forced onto the Macbook. So then I tried resetting the SMU, didn't work. I tried turning it on with only battery , and then with only power source, both didn't work either.I have never spilled anything on this macbook, never dropped it, smashed it, or abused it in any way. However, it is 2 years old and I never bought Applecare (Usually, if something is defective, it will show within the first 30 days). I assume it's a logic board failure, and it's going to cost around 700 to fix (which i'd rather just get a new macbook).
I was wondering if anybody know of a reason why the logic board broke, or if there is any remedies that i haven't tried yet? Also, I'm thinking of pawning it off on ebay and then save up and wait for the Macbook Pro refresh. Does anyone have an estimate on how much I can get for a broken Macbook (screen is fine, 4gb of ram (i might replace it w/ 2gb instead) 250 gb HD (might replace with 80gb HD instead), 2.0 ghz c2d (prbly useless cuz the logic board is fried)
It's been on for about 24 hours because I'm downloading a large file. (It's been completely on, no sleep.) I was using it a couple of minutes ago when I noticed the battery was low. I plugged it in without turning it off and went downstairs. When I came back, it appeared to be shut down. I tried pressing buttons on he keyboard/moving the mouse to see if it just went to sleep but there's no response. Even pressing the power button doesn't do anything.
when I close the lid, the sleep indicator is on. (IIRC, it's supposed to flash when it's sleeping but right now, the white light indicator is solid and only goes off when I open the lid.)
My screen just started to occasionally have a flicker of a white line show up... It doesn't happen that often, should i worry? Is it worth taking it into apple? (Under warranty still) Since its not consistent i wont necessarily be able to show them what its doing..
My PPC G5 Mac Power Pro has been working fine, on one startup recently the screen didn't come on, the keyboard and mouse did not pass the startup test and the white light flashes three times. After a while the fans go into hovercraft mode! I've reseated the RAm and checked all other cards.
So my problem with my Macbook Pro's pixels is many of them look blurry and are multiple colors almost like a rainbow. They also only show up on white backgrounds, not black. Some of them are in clusters and others are spread out. One of the clusters is very annoying and looks like a big blurry dot on my screen. I am hoping to take it in to the apple store and see what they can do about it because it seems like it is getting worse. I am assuming these are all dead pixels but I am not certain.
I'm a relatively new Mac user. In fact, I haven't had that much experience at all. I work in a donations store and today we got a donation of an iMac. I searched around a bit and I'm sure it's a G5 model. It looks like [URL]. It looks to be in great condition, no scratches, not even a fingerprint on the monitor.
However, when I turned it on, after plugging the power chord in, I started experiencing problems. The fans kicked on and I heard the chime (I assume that was a post?) but I was getting no video and the white LED on the front of the screen was flashing on and off. The exact pattern is strange - I don't think I've see it before. It flashes once, then stops, then flashes again, then stops. Over and over. No sequence. :| The computer did not come with a keyboard or a mouse. I was testing it to see if it actually worked, before I bought the keyboard and the mouse, so I'm wondering if it has something to do with that? I'm not really sure.
My Macbook doesn't turn on, it just show a white screen and after a while a big question mark blinks but nothing else, cannot click the question mark, cannot do anything. Also it makes a funny noise.
Got my macbook here. Bought it 1.5 years ago. Out of warranty. Running on 10.5.8. When I printscreen it, the white strip does not appear. Its present even when I'm using my mac. And additionally, It's only visible when the background isn't white or black. Also, its been happening on and off. It normally goes away if I've been carrying my macbook in my backpack and then open it up again (leads me to think maybe it is sensitive and may have been bonked on something while I was carrying it in my bag). However, this time, it hasn't gone away simply by rebooting it.
I have an iMac G5 iSight. When the power button is pressed there is no sound and a white light flashes, but nothing else happens. I tried the power reset method and replaced the power supply, but the same thing happens. The white light just keeps flashing.
I have a Mac G5 Dual 2.0ghz Running 3GB Ram 6 x 512 ddr pc 3200 400mhz i use it for music production, So as you can imagine i need plenty of ram to run some of the high end plugins, So i purchased 2 x 1GB Pc3200 400mhz Ram, Pushing up my total ram to 5GB, Plenty for what i need.
So i installed the ram in the 2 outside slots(the only 2 left) the mac booted up but wouldnt recognise the new ram,( thought i would save a few pound and went for the extra value ram) So i thought i would move the other ram up a slot and put the new ram in the first slot instead of the last one, it still wouldnt recognise the new ram,So i turn it off took out the ram, put the old ram back in its original slots, Turn the mac back on,......Nothing but a white light flashing on the monitor, & the fans going mad !
After trying each set of ram in pairs one at a time i managed to get one set to work in the first slot, 1 gb (2x512) once! Now i cant get anything to boot this mac up! the ram worked before, so why not now. Ive only been using a mac for about 2 years, and before that i built pcs for a living, & i know my way round pcs fine , but this has really got me.Please Please Please. if someone can help i would be very grateful, i need to get some important work finished. Best Regards.
I have a G5 dual 1.8 power PC...Bought some ram put it in & booted up. Then a red light came on the logic board behind the power button. The machine wouldn't turn on....I called apple care & we rearranged the ram, now the red light is gone but my system still won't boot up. The white power light blinks every few seconds... the apple store told me sorry can't help because your machine is vintage. Even if my logic board is fried is there a place to buy one on the cheap?
The iMac G5 (17") doesn't want to boot up, when I press the I/O button it flashes with its white light, and then nothing happens. When I do that with the back-cover off light 1 is lit as long as the machine has power, but light 2 only flashes when I connect the pins that the powerbutton connects. I know that there was a problem with the powersupply, but the soldering I did should have fixed that.
I have normal vision and have found the ical update on OS Lion to be very difficult to read. As a photographer using a mac monitor for pre-corrected color, brightness, and contrast, changing the appearance of monitor is not an option for me. I am hopeful Apple will solve this design problem immediately and embed it in their OS update. It's not the size of the font that matters, it's the fact that light gray is on a white background and that makes reading it a nearly self-defeating process.
As of today, I noticed my ambient light sensor doesnt seem to work. I tried disabling and re-enabling it in system preferences, but that hasn't done the trick.
Is there some test I can do to see if it's working or not? I know it worked two days ago, because i took the i7 15" MBP outside and it automatically switched to max brightness. Today I took it outside and the brightness didn't switch at all and I couldn't see the screen it was so dark.
Since the last time it definitely worked, all I've done is install Windows 7 64-bit with Boot Camp and hooked up the MBP to an external 20" monitor with a minidisplay-DVI adapter.
I had my original MBP charger replaced a while ago because the magsafe adapter light was not working. (but it charged the computer fine, weirdly enough) Then, about a month ago, the light on that one went out too. The apple store replaced it with one of the new MBA chargers style. That one worked for about a day, and now intermittently goes off. What is wrong here?
I went out for a few hours and forgot to unplug the Magsafe adapter from my Macbook Pro. When I got home, it was connected as I left but the green light wasn't on.
I found it strange because the battery was still 93%, not completely charged. I removed it and then I plugged it again. It didn't work! I thought it could be my energy plug and then I plugged the adapter in another one and it didn't work either! My battery will be over soon, and I've got no idea what to do.
The iBook battery will not charge nor will the light on the charger show any color when plugged in. The battery time until full charge icon is stuck on "calculating."
1) The charger is fine since I checked it on another iBook. (Light comes on and changes appropriately.) 2) I have multiple batteries so any one individual battery is not the problem. Also it registers the proper charge capacity. 3) I've reset the PMU and it does not help.
Over the past few months, I have noticed that my MagSafe light will randomly stop working when I plug it into my MacBook. I just unplug it, and plug it back in and it works normally. It seems like the computer still charges though.
My macbook pro's charger is not working - occassionly it will light up orange and charge but most of the time it will not The charger is a 60w magsafe power adapter I have had this charger for approx 3 years One of thee adaptors ends for some reasons has slightly deviated towards the right and its silver plating has been scratched to show the gold core would this effect the chargers ability What is the chargers problem? Also would it be safe to use my macbook charger on the macbook pro? Also the battery icon occassionally says service battery , is this due to overcharging the laptop
