Over the past few months, I have noticed that my MagSafe light will randomly stop working when I plug it into my MacBook. I just unplug it, and plug it back in and it works normally. It seems like the computer still charges though.
View 5 RepliesI had my original MBP charger replaced a while ago because the magsafe adapter light was not working. (but it charged the computer fine, weirdly enough) Then, about a month ago, the light on that one went out too. The apple store replaced it with one of the new MBA chargers style. That one worked for about a day, and now intermittently goes off. What is wrong here?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is the most obnoxious computer problem I've ever encountered. I'm yet to figure out a pattern, but my Macbook Pro's keyboard will just stop working for several minutes at a time at random points in time. Even if I hit caps or num lock, they don't turn green. Sometimes it'll just happen once every few hours, but I was in class the other day and it would work for a minute, then not work for a few, than work for another minute, etc.
View 15 Replies View RelatedRecently, my MBP's single-tap-to-select stops working, usually after I wake it up from sleep. This happens almost every other day, for the past 2-3 weeks (since 10.7.3 I'm guessing). Double-tap-to-right-click works fine, and keyboard commands all work, but single-tap just doesn't work till I reboot the machine. It's driving me mad. Even plugging in a mouse doesn't help, so it's not a trackpad / hardware issue at all.

I'm having trouble with my new macbook pro where in some applications after scrolling down and stopping, I sometimes am unable to resume scrolling. I have tried shutting down the application, rebooting but nothing seems to work. Whenever this occurs I am still able to scroll fine in pages and safari but the preview app and xcode have been problematic for me.Â

bluetooth on my 2013 MBP. I have a magic mouse and it randomly stops responding. At first I thought it was a problem with the mouse itself. I changed the batteries,To solve the problem and to get the mouse to work again, I have to actually restart my computer. Â
Then I realized that when my magic mouse acts up, if I open the Bluetooth preferences, in the spot where the name of my computer should be is this weird message that says "do not localize, name not available" So I've finally realized that the problems I'm having aren't with the mouse but actually the Bluetooth in the computer, either it's a hardware issue with the Bluetooth hardware or the driver is defective. Again, when I restart, I'm able to use my magic mouse again. And when Bluetooth is acting up, when I do try to open Bluetooth preferences, I get the beach ball and everything starts to hang. Â
I'm attaching pictures of what the Bluetooth preferences screen shows under normal operation with the name of my MBP and showing the mouse is connected and a picture of what the Bluetooth preferences window shows when it's acting up. Is the Bluetooth defective?
I have noticed that my keyboard will randomly stop working after switching Spaces or using other shortcut keys. When I hit the CMD-arrow key to switch spaces, the Spaces box that shows which space you just moved to stays on the screen and the keyboard completely stops working. A logout of required.
Running 10.6.2 with all updates applied.
For a while now, my Airport will randomly stop working when browsing the internet. What I mean by that is that when browsing the internet and then trying to open a new tab, it will not load the page I am trying to open. The Airport icon still shows that it is connected, but no pages are loading. I have tried multiple browsers to no avail. As well as restarting.
I am running Mac OS X 10.6.2 with all updates applied.
My Apple Wireless Keyboard is haunted. It will randomly, in the middle of sentences, or sometimes after I haven't used in a few minutes, stop responding.
The really weird part? I open System Prefs, click Bluetooth, and viola! It works again. I don't have to do anything - just open the Bluetooth prefs. As soon as I do, everything I've typed since it went dead (usually just a word or two) is actually output into the search box in Systems Prefs.
There is no rhyme or reason to this weirdness. Sometimes it will literally happen a few times an hour for days (which drives me up the wall); sometimes it'll go months without doing it. When it's doing it a lot, no amount of rebooting/relogging-in fixes it. One thing I have not tried is using a fresh user account (or Guest), because it's so unpredictable... even on my own account it will take a break and work normally for a few hours, then go right back to freaking out.
The fact that it stores everything I type when it's "not working" is the really weird part. It's like the OS is receiving the data but just forgetting to process it until I poke it and remind it, "you have stuff coming in via Bluetooth, wake up and do something with it!"
My 2010 Macbook pro 17 inch does not turn on. the 85W Magsafe power adapter shows a dim light when plugged in. What do I do?

my magsafe light goes dim green, orange, or off when plugged into my macbook
it still charges it fine, an it never stops charing, just the light goes dim. if i wiggle the wire the light turns back on.
i went to the apple store, the guy didnt look at it but i explained the above, he said its normal an his does the same an come back if it stops chargin

I've just plugged my laptop in here at work, the light on the magsafe doesn't appear. at the top it says its running on power adapter.
Last night however i did notice that the light on the magsafe was a light green color, not the normal green/orange it usually is.
Any idea?, its a AluMB from Oct 2008. Could it be my battery or just the charger?. I do have Apple care.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Magsafe charger started acting really odd today. It started with the light not working when I was charging the computer. Even tough the light didn't come on the computer still said it was charging. I unplugged it for a bit & plunged it back in. This time the light came on & it was green even though it wasn't fully charged. But now when i unplug it, the light stays on as long as its plugged into the wall. The only thing I've changed lately is I replaced the hard drive, but its been about a week and this just started happening tonight.
View 15 Replies View RelatedIt started last night when my adapter freyed, melted and became useless (a common problem with the MagSafe). I called to bitch to Apple, but they just wanted to make sure nobody died and no houses burned down and then told me to go buy a new adapter. I did that today, but now my computer wont hold a charge and is stuck at 0% and shows the charged icon over the battery. The weird thing is that the light on the MagSafe head is an extremely dim green. You need to turn the lights off to really see that it is lit, but very weakly.
So, I went back to the Apple store and tried the charger on a different computer and it worked fine. And we tried a completely different charger on my macbook and the same dimly lit light thing happened. So i dont think its the charger. Then we put my battery in a different macbook and it took a charge. So i dont think its the battery. Any ideas??? Is it a coincidence my 18 month old hassle-free (until now) macbook has had two problems in the last 24 hrs? It isn't under warranty.
I've been asked to take a look at a friends white macbook that won't power on. I've tried resetting the smc etc., with no joy. The battery charge indicator shows 1 fully lit green light and the magsafe connector also is green. Pressing the power button doesn't do anything, no lights, beeps etc. I've tried another power adapter and the magsafe light remains green when connected but the battery still shows 1 green led. Considering the macbook thinks its charged but the battery isn't, is this a dead logic board? Or something else? This macbook is well out of warranty.
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery once in a while, the green light on my Magsafe adapter will turn off, but the computer will indicate that it's still running off of AC power. If I unplug the adapter from the computer and then plug it back in, it'll immediately light up again. or some times i tap on it and it start again!
View 2 Replies View Relatedjust moments ago i plugged in my mbp and literally 1 minute or so later i hear a static fuzz sound (hard to describe) but if i had to give a similar sound it was exactly like the sound your radio alarm clock makes sometimes when your cell phone is nearby receiving an incoming call or text w/e, your alarm clock sometimes makes that sudden static fuzz sound.
well my mbp made that sound, wasn't as distorted as an radio alarm clock would make, but it sounded more precise. the sound came out of the left speaker for a second or so (no music or movie or any program with sound effects were active at this moment) i believe right where the magsafe is hooked into. and i was like "what the heck was that?? and was it from my mbp??" so i looked at the magsafe and sure enough the orange charging light was out as if it was unplugged (but it was still plugged IN) so i unhooked it then rehooked it and now it charged like normal again, still hasn't done it again while i started this thread.
any thoughts?? additional info i have to add is, i was swapping out the extension pieces from the smaller cord adapter, to the full 8 foot or so cord one. but when i switched out the small single piece i tugged in the opposite direction, i pulled up against the metal circle joint, instead of sliding left to unhooked the metal circle thing (w/e u call it). i felt the piece and its in full contact, i didn't loosen it or anything. could this be the random cause?
lastly, that static noise i heard that ended up causing the magsafe to stop charging. could that static noise damage my speakers?
additional info i also had my cell phone like 8 inches away from the magsafe. could the cell phone have the same static frequency or w/e that can interfere with the magnet/charging cycle?? i didn't receive any calls or texts when it happened. so i dunno if cell phones have frequencies constantly that could possibly cause my issue without having the receive incoming calls or texts etc.
So I have a Late 2009 Macbook Pro, it came with the original magsafe adapter. The adapter doesn't always work all the time, sometimes theres a really dim green light.
One of the prongs that go into the wall is slightly bent so it might be because of that.
My question is will Apple replace this charger for me? Do they give the new magsafe adapters as replacements or will they give me an old one?
I just got my new MBA 13" ultimate and this battery never seems to be fully charged (system shows 99% charging for over 1 hour now) and magsafe light been amber throughout the entire time. I'm worried it may be a battery problem, tried resetting SMC two times but no effect.

View 3 Replies View RelatedA few hours ago my MBP (15" from January 2011) had almost no battery, so I plugged in the charger - but nothing happened. No green or orange light - or indicator on finder. I went to System Information which confirmed that it had 0% battery left and it wasn't charging, even with the MagSafe correctly plugged in.Â
I checked the wall connector and it's functioning well on other devices. The battery eventually died and now my macbook won't turn on. The light on the adapter and on the side of the notebook flashes green inconsistently. It won't turn on since it has no battery. I've tried reseting the SMC but nothing happend.Â
In the last few days I've had a recurring problem: Randomly and without any obvious context in terms of actions, apps etc, my trackpad simply stops responding. I have all options enabled on the trackpad, such as soft click+drag, and the problem has so far only occured when performing that: drop'n drag.
It get's stuck and I cant release whatever I've gripped. I am now only able to use the keyboard and have to reboot to be able to use the trackpad again. After reboot the problem returns randomly after a while. I can't think of any recent software updates or additions that have coincided with the problem, except installing Livedrive Briefcase recently.
The problem however does not specifically occur when working with that (though Livedrive is set to run in the background). The problem occurs more and more often, usually after I have closed the lid (sleep). Also, I am able to use my Magic Trackpad, which in turn brings the build in trackpad back to working!

Sooooo I just got my brand shiny new CTO 4GB 13.3 MBA this morning at about 9:45 am yesterday in Illinois. I was sposed to go to bed because I am working nights at the moment but i stayed up for hours setting it up and playing with it (my first MAC) and so I finally get home after working a 12 hour night shift and open up my new MBA expecting instant on and....nothing. The damn thing will not turn on and I tried all the tricks of the trade (suggested by apple support page) and nothing. It was fully charged when I left it in the morning. Also, my magsafe charge light is green which means it is still fully charged right??? Man what a super disappointment. My first MAC and it freaking dies immediately. My Win 7 desktop at least started...good ole faithful (granted it took about 55 seconds...pff)

On a day-to-day basis I run: Adobe PS, INDD, and AI, Microsoft Entourage, Firefox and iTunes. Just recently, after an upgrade to Leopard, I added Things and Simplify Media to the list.The problem that happens before (on Tiger) and now (on Leopard) is command+tab switching stops functioning and Expose hot corners and shortcuts stop working.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a Finder crash because before, on Tiger, I could quit+restart Firefox and everything would be back to normal. Almost as if some shortcut had causes the system to act differently or there was some app dissonance?
But now, with Leopard, nothing I quit will cause these two features to act properly until I do a restart. Both features (command+tab switching and expose) are very necessary for my work flow. I have checked SysPref to make sure keyboard shortcuts are default and Univeral Access to make sure assisted devices is turned off.
iv see the magsafe light dim green then i bump it an it goes back to bright green?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI wonder if somebody has a similar problem. MacBook pro 2008 (15", 2.2 GHz, 2 GB RAM) has the Magsafe adapter light off when fully charged. When disconnected-reconnected, it starts glowing green again.
History: about 6 months ago, the screen wiring and video card were replaced by Apple. The battery was replaced a long time ago. Symptoms after card replacement (not necessarily related to it) included spontaneous wake from sleep when the lid was closed, although the "wake from sleep at Ethernet activity" was disabled. In the Apple store they reset the power management unit and the unwanted wake up stopped. The computer is always plugged into the wall outlet when at home but travels often during the day and is on battery power then.
Two other laptops (2007 and 2009) always have the adapter green light on when the battery is fully charged. The "abnormal" one now has a replacement adapter plugged in and for several days the light was on when charged. Today it turned off again. Apple does not list that option and only vaguely states that when fully charged, the adapter light is green. Anything to do with the power port contacts? If yes, how can one diagnose or repair it? Will Apple hardware test do it? Or is this within normal behavior? Also, I am not sure whether this is serious or not since the battery charges...
I did not find any answers on the web, so I am posting it here.
So for the past few weeks, the little green light has gone off at random times. It creeps me out, feels like I'm being watched. Anyway, I put a little piece of post it to cover up the camera so I won't be so paranoid. I already did an SMC reset and the problem still persists.
