Sep 1, 2014I had my macbook charging and then the power had went out. However, when the power came back on, my macbook wouldn't charge normally. Since then, I've had to keep the macbook hooked up to the charger or else I can't use the laptop.

Mar 27, 2010It all started this evening where I plugged my adapter into my macbook to charge. Instead of the usual bright orange light, it was a very dim orange and was barely visible and flickers occasionally. When plugged in, it stated "Not Charging". After awhile, I decided to try again but this time it was a dim green. Still not charging. I tried airing it for a bit, and tried again. This time it didn't light up at all. Just a while ago, I realized it was able to charge again (Bright Orange). However, I noticed it never seemed to turn green so I tested it out by removing my battery.
Even after removing, the lights below the battery were on and moving as if it was still charging. (Hope you understand what I mean). After a while it stopped though. So I tried draining my battery. It went till about 3hrs (at 100% its 4hrs) and I tried charging it again. Immediately after connecting it, the display went to show "Fully charged" with the bright green light. I disconnected it and it stayed at 100% for a while before changing to 90%. Sometimes it works perfectly while other times it just decides to go bonkers. I will try using a diff adapter tomorrow to see if the problem is in the adapter. (Probably is)

Apr 18, 2012I went out for a few hours and forgot to unplug the Magsafe adapter from my Macbook Pro. When I got home, it was connected as I left but the green light wasn't on.
I found it strange because the battery was still 93%, not completely charged. I removed it and then I plugged it again. It didn't work! I thought it could be my energy plug and then I plugged the adapter in another one and it didn't work either! My battery will be over soon, and I've got no idea what to do.

I use my charger for my sisters laptop and it works therefore indicating that the charger isn't the problem but when I charge my laptop it shows a faint green light but not charging! It's cause water spilled on my laptop the day before but it was not a lot & I let it to dry but everything works well except from the charger port!

Jul 27, 2009I am currently in possession of a powerbook G4 15" which is having difficulties when charging. The battery i feel is fairly old as it does not retain charge well when not plugged in. The charger has recently become temperamental, charging at a very slow rate, if at all and usually works if held at a certain angle. The last few days i have noticed that the green ring around the charger port occasionally turns red and have unplugged the charger and left it.

Sep 18, 2007I have a 3 months old MBP SR and recently I have noticed that the charge light on the magsafe adapter turns off after a while. It used to stay green when the laptop was charged but now it turns off. It usually happens when I put the computer to sleep. After a while the charger light turns off. Not a huge issue but I was wondering if other people were seeing something similar and if there was something I could do to get the light back on (I think it looks nice).

Sep 3, 2010I bought this Late 2007 macbook off of craigslist, and it was working perfectly. But after a little water got mon my macbook and charger, I plugged it in and it had a bright green light and wouldn't charge. The Next day I plugged it in and it only had a dim green light, it wouldn't Start up without the battery, or run without it. Now all I need is the battery in it to start it up and it will run off of the charger, But it still has that dim green light. The charger is a little Damaged, Photo's In the attachments. My dog chewed on it a while back. This is my first macbook, And the dvd drive is not working, but I have managed to reinstall SL with USB, So it is not a software problem.

Jul 23, 2009I unplugged my blackbook last night when it was fully charged so I could drain the battery. Then I moved my macbook upstairs to the router and plugged in the ethernet so I could publish my website. I then plugged in my charger so it wouldn't die with publishing but its suddenly stopped working. The outlets work with other electronic devices but not my blackbook charger. No green light or nothing. It worked just a hour or two ago.

Aug 26, 2014Every once in a while, the green light on my Magsafe adapter will turn off, but the computer will indicate that it's still running off of AC power. If I unplug the adapter from the computer and then plug it back in, it'll immediately light up again. or some times i tap on it and it start again!

Dec 8, 2008I'm only posting this to continue my procrastination of starting homework which is due tomorrow. Ok, so recently I've been asking on these forums how to access my Macbook using my iPod Touch. Being able to fully access my Macbook when I'm 20 miles away at my University is a huge benefit when I realize I forgot an important essay or homework. I discovered I just have to open up port 5900, etc etc, to get into my Macbook from anywhere. It was too much trouble and now I just use [URL] which works as well, though don't think as fast. Well, this works wonders since I've already emailed myself 2 important Keynotes i've create and accessed them from my college and presented them without even having my computer on me.
Well, recently when I get home at night some times it smells strongly of marijuana. Odd since I don't smoke it but my cousin does. He has access to my place and I say he can head over, even if i'm not home and chill, but under any circumstances no smoking. Well, I wanted to use the iSight cam w/ Photo Booth while I'm at the college to see if he indeed was getting high in my living room but before I tested it, I need to get rid of the green light on my Macbook: Getting Rid of The Green Light. Ok, so we're not really turning off the green light here. I looked for hours on how to do this and instead ran into a lot of advice, especially on MacRumors forums, to just white out or tape a small white square over the dot when the green light comes through.
Don't attempt the white out. It'll just go through. As for the white small square...it's completely obvious so don't try that either. Instead, do this:
1. Get a thin card, like a debit card and gently remove the white frame from your macbook. Attached to the back of the frame will be a bunch of these little gray rectangles that hold that frame to the outer part of the macbook. You'll have to take these off gently from the frame and pop them back onto their corresponding places within the Macbook. Easy enough.
2. Then what you do it get a sheet of white paper, cut a super small piece and fold it many times over. Not too thick or the frame won't click back in that area normally.
3. Place it snuggly where the green light turns on and even suggest getting a piece of tape just as small to hold it in place.
4. Turn on Photo booth just to test out if the light goes through. It may but really test it by placing the frame over it, and then seeing if the light goes through.
5. If it doesn't great. Place the frame back on and you're set!

Spilt Tea On Macbook Won't Turn On / Dim Green Light
Jun 30, 2012Last week I spilt tea (english tea with soy milk) on it while it was CLOSED, but it got into the side plugs and etc. I turned it off, and put it immediately in rice to dry it out, and later took the battery out as well. I tried to turn it on, but nothing except for a very pale green light coming from the plug itself. After many attemps of turining it on still no success. A roommate opened it up and cleaned the rusty bits with pure alcohol, but still it won't turn on. The rust was only close to the part where the plug goes.Does anyone know if it's just a matter of replacing a piece or something more expensive? I'd like to find out before I go to a repair place.

I visited service center which is far from where i live.They said battery was short, they removed battery and placed it back and my mac started working. I came back home, next day again same issue. Do you think its charger fault now i don't have correct screw driver to open my mac and unplug and plug battery again. And i cant visit service centre again. Should I get new charger ? Why i faced same problem after visiting service centre they said it wont happen again.

OS X :: MacBook Screen Turns Off - Sleep Light Remained Constant
Feb 9, 2008I was using my MacBook this evening and navigated to a webpage that wouldn't load (perhaps due to excessive load) when my screen turned off and refused to turn back on. The white "sleep" light remained constant. I shut the screen and the light started to blink after the optical drive made it's noise and then I opened the screen again. The display turned on for a few seconds turning back off and the light on the front reverted to it's constant state.
I repeated pressing keys, the mouse and closing and opening the screen a few times before holding the power button down and forcing it to shut down. It's working fine now. I am wondering what caused this sudden behaviour though and how to best stop it from happening again, if I was working on something that needed to be saved, I'd be buggered. Perhaps it's an issue Apple needs to service, but how do I reproduce the effect then?

Last.fm helper app (but no songs were currently playing)
I was thinking it could possibly be related to the Last.fm app, but why would it turn my screen off and then cause it to continue to not respond/turn off? Should I be looking in the Console for a log before shutting down tonight, would that reveal something?

Apr 29, 2010So I've recently purchased the new 13" MBP, and to my understanding, there is a light sensor that turns up the brightness of the backlit keyboard and screen when in dark environments.
However, the problem with my MBP is that when I turn on the lights in my room, the screen brightness and backlit keyboard both turn brighter, and when I turn off the lights, the screen and keyboard grow dimmer, which is exactly the opposite of what is supposed to happen.
