Ok so i'm looking for somewhere to clip an antistatic wristband on my macbook while i just change the RAM
1) Is it really necessary to take this precaution?
2) Where can i find bare, unpainted metal to clip it to?
So my macbook's wrist pad (right side) has been cracked for awhile now. Started out with a small crack, then growing almost 4cm and then snapping off part of the plastic. I tried superglueing it back on (im resourceful ) but it didn't hold. Now I have a 4cm long piece of plastic missing from my wrist pad, and crusty superglue residue left where my wrist goes.
The left side is starting to crack as well, although, not as bad.
Figured I would ask here before I take it to the apple store:
What will all need to be replaced? Will just the wrist pad be replaced or is it attached to the keyboard

I have a very slight warp to the bottom pan of my MBP. So slight as to be unnoticeable save for one rather obvious result: the part that goes over the top of the optical drive slot has come un-glued/fastened/riveted to the frame behind.
I want to secure it back against the frame and tape seems the best option. The pressure on the flange (part over the slot) is not great - it can easily be pressed in and will hold for a second or two - but will not hold with just regular double stick.
So I am planning to start riding my motorcycle to class, and I need to bring my macbook. While I do have several backpacks that can carry it, I am terrified of ruining it if I were to wreck the bike.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a 17" MBP and need a case for it. I want more protection than a neoprene sleeve, but don't need a full-fledged work bag (I already have one). I really like the style and protection of the Booq Vyper XL2, but it has no shoulder strap. I am really afraid I would end up dropping it, as I usually have my hands full on the way to/from work.
I have to confess: I have too many messenger bags. I have a wrist guard on my old macbook pro it was just a clean plastic film and for the life me I can't remember where I bought it from. I would like to get it for my new MBP
View 6 Replies View RelatedI own a Sony Cyber-shot camera, and a 24 inch IMAC computer. I took a short video clip and downloaded it to Iphoto (no problem doing that). I then downloaded the clip to a 4 gpb flash drive, as an mp4 video. My problem is that my friends Microsoft based PC can't play it.

Anybody know where I might find some kind of a cover for the palm rests etc? I'm using an external mouse / keyboard at the moment.

Has anyone experienced the disturbing dark blemishing/staining/erosion that showed up in several aluminum PowerBook models.like in the handrest area?
I am curious because I have a small little spot that said area and cannot get it clean.While it may be a little dink, I may invest in some kind of protector if word is that others are seeing any blemishes.
has anyone had tiny cracks in the metal of the unibodies? I have a macbook pro with an invisible shield on it and I have noticed what looks to be a tiny crack about a cm in length. When I rub back and forth on the invisible shield it goes away as is the chemical used to hold on the shield fills it in?

Ive been looking around, and found "MacBooks" that are metal unibodys, but have the spec of the MacBook "pro"s.
So many users on here complain about the Aqua interface and want Marble. Now I never got to use anything prior to Leopard, this perhaps could explain why, apart from a quick go on my teachers iMac which had Tiger. I for one love the Aqua interface as well as the old Pinstripes used in earlier versions of Mac OS X, I have a thing for stripes as well as pre-leopard OS X.
Now what I want is an update from users on GUI applications out there, all the older threads will be out of date now. So let me know what's going on with them. Does anyone know where the files for GUI are kept in Snow Leopard or Leopard, I'm wondering if you can almost do a transplant of the files from Tiger into Snow Leopard? If there is also anyone who can make a Pinstripe theme for the dock to be used in DockDoctor could you post the files? I've added a screenshot from 10.0 to just remind anyone of the style.
I've also added a poll to get some real data on how MacRumors feels about Aqua.
I would like to skin my software with a brushed aluminum look.
Is this an option with OSX?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there any way that I can change the skin of Finder from the brushed metal to something similar of Firefox/Mail.app? I have tried using Uno and that gave the perfect result, but it also changed my other apps too. Changing the Uno settings to 'Default Aqua' for all except finder failed also, as it still changed Firefox.
So does anyone know how to get rid of the horrible metal texture of Finder and replace it with something a little more consistent, and without changing any other apps (except other metal textured ones)?

I was just finishing up a video, and I noticed a slight mistake in my voicing during my recording of the video. I wanted to remove it, and it was small, but there's no hope. It just deletes the whole clip, making me undo it, and making me clueless.

my macbook fan speeds up and is very loud when ever I play a clip on youtube or basically use my computer for more than one application. However after closing the video the fan returns to a lower RPM.
could it be that the fan is dirty and needs to be cleaned?
I just got the new incase hardshell for my 13 MBP, but the bottom piece doesn't clip on properly. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm following the installation instructions, but am I doing it wrong?

I have taken everything out of the trash and then returned items in small groups for successful emptying. That identified the problem which seems to be one iMovie 08 clip that causes the Secure Empty Trash to freeze. The progress bar shows that it contains 3 items which drops to 2 almost instantly. Then it freezes and just stays there (45 minutes or longer) until I select Force Quit. Clicking on the Stop Emptying Trash has no effect whatever.
