I use my Mac Mail to send my personal emails... However I also use it to monitor my work email. However, when I use my work Gmail account to send multiple messages either on my phone or on my computer through Gmail, whenever I go into mac Mail I have 40+ copies of the emails I sent. I tried to look in the setting if there's something that disables this.

I took the Gmail account offline in mail after the first 1000 messages or so. I went through all the Preferences options and menu option, but maybe I missed that setting.

I've recently IMAP-ed my Gmail to my Apple Mail.
When I press 'Get Mail', it begins importing my entire GMAIL inbox (complete with 1000s of emails). Is there any way to stop this?
I have an IMAP email account that's over a decade old.It's going away soon so I'm trying to figure out how to get a complete local copy of all that email. There are a total of around 100 folders with anywhere from 5 to over 2000 emails in each folder.
The problem: there's email on the server that isn't showing up in Mail. For instance one folder (according to the webmail interface) has 771 messages. Mail says that folder has 700 messages.Looking at the webmail interface I can easily find several of the 71 emails that are not appearing in Mail. In Mail, if I select the folder and "Get Account Info" and look at the Quotas section, it lists the correct number of email messages (771). If I rebuild the folder, as it's being rebuilt the blue progress bar at the bottom left of Mail says there are 771 incoming messages. But when it's done, I can only see 700.
I just double checked on a second computer (MacBook Pro, also latest 10.7 version & Mail) and it's the same there, it only sees 700 messages.Now, repeat this times the roughly 100 folders .What's going on here?Why isn't Mail downloading or displaying these emails?

I have Mail checking my [URL] address. I want to use Mail to also check my Gmail account. No problem in setting that up... done already. Here's the issue: I have more than 1.1GB of mail in my Gmail account, including file backups on Gspace. I don't want Mail to download all those messages... only the past week or so, then move forward with Mail downloading new Gmail messages only. Is there a way to tell Mail NOT to download my entire Gmail history?

My question is if the GMail mail will be downloaded locally to my machine or will it remain on the Google servers. I WANT it to remain on the servers, ie I only want to access my emails through Mail. I tried sending out an email with Mac Mail that had 82 iPhotos attached...it wouldn't send which is fine because I found other means to send them on a different computer. The problem is that the same email I initially tried to send keeps resending over and over again and is hindering being able to get incoming mail. The photos have been deleted off the computer, and I have repeatedly tried to delete the email and move it to trash, and empty trash.....but the email keeps resurrecting and trying to resend.

In trying to send an oversized video via email (exceeded 25 MG) size limit, I got an error message. I thought I deleted the email. However, whenever email is open, the message continually gets recovered, blocking any email from being recieved. I am able to create and send emails. Internet checks out ok. Using AOL.iMap. It seems that I am not able to interrupt the continual attempts to send the original email.

I use Google 2-step verification. With my upgrade to Yosemite, all my text messages that previously only went to my iPhone now also appear on my Macbook Pro. In general that's fine, but it's a big security problem.  If anyone gets my computer then they immediately have access to all my 2-step codes because the codes will be sent to my Macbook in addition to my phone. Previously I only had to worry about one device (my phone) and but now there is a big problem with my computer falling into the wrong hands.Â
Is this an attempt by Apple to stop people from using Google 2-step verification?Â

My .mac mail is no longer appearing in the desktop mail app. Cannot send or receive and folders have disappeared. Have not changed anything that I am aware of. My other account is fine. .mac mail comes in fine on iphone and ipad. When using my laptop I can get to it and send from the icould site. What would have caused this/how can I get it back? It is still listed as an account in mail preferences.
