I am very tired of "losing" messages because MacMail insists on linking messages, sent and/ or received, together, with no apparent logic sometimes. I just want all my sent messages separate and all received message likewise. Then I can always find what I want.

I just set up my new iMac, migrated everything from my MacBook Pro, and everything works EXCEPT Mail. I have configured my MobileMe settings to synch everything, and online, everything is there: contacts, all old email, etc... but Mail doesn't show any of this stuff, nor will it retrieve or synch any of my email accounts. Also, I have to Force Quit it everytime to exit the program.
Could this be something with the Preferences file, or .plist file?
My Safari keeps "force closing", and I don't know why??

I tried sending out an email with Mac Mail that had 82 iPhotos attached...it wouldn't send which is fine because I found other means to send them on a different computer. The problem is that the same email I initially tried to send keeps resending over and over again and is hindering being able to get incoming mail. The photos have been deleted off the computer, and I have repeatedly tried to delete the email and move it to trash, and empty trash.....but the email keeps resurrecting and trying to resend.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use my Mac Mail to send my personal emails... However I also use it to monitor my work email. However, when I use my work Gmail account to send multiple messages either on my phone or on my computer through Gmail, whenever I go into mac Mail I have 40+ copies of the emails I sent. I tried to look in the setting if there's something that disables this.

However, whenever email is open, the message continually gets recovered, blocking any email from being recieved. I am able to create and send emails. Internet checks out ok. Using AOL.iMap. It seems that I am not able to interrupt the continual attempts to send the original email.

Every time I want to shut down my late 2011 MacBook Pro, Mac Mail cancels the shut down & I have to force quit mail. I was having this problem on my old 2008 MacBook before I upgraded to the Pro (but it only started after I upgraded to Lion OSX). So what's wrong w/ Mac Mail? And is there some setting I can change? This is an annoying time suck.Â

I've got a very annoying issue with Mail 5.2 (1257). I customized the main application window so that it would only take a small amount of screen space. My problem now, is that every time I close Mail and open it again, it looks like much larger. So I have to rescale the window every time I open Mail, which is quite frustrating. How to force Mail to keep the same window size?

I have an old MBP laying around that is not worth selling due to a number of little issues it has. However, it still functions just fine and, I think, would make an excelent server. However, there is one small issue: If I close the lid, it will go to sleep.Â
I've tried using a few different apps, InsomniaX and Caffiene being two of the more popular ones, but so far nothing seems to take. I know I can do this with the use of an external monitor or mouse, but I don't want to have to keep a mouse plugged in simply so my server can run and I don't have, or want, to set up a monitor for it.Â
how I can make my MBP behave as I'd like?

When I go to close it, it makes a noticeable clicking then shuts as normal. If I leave it in a partially closed position for a few seconds, it clicks again when I shut it.
Obviously something is getting stuck or jammed but I can't see what it is or which bit of the hinge it's stuck in...

I've been using Macs, iPhones, and iPads for many years, but I've never tried to setup my work Exchange account with my Mac until I just purchased a MacBook Air as a second computer (to use partially for work). I was hoping that it would work just like it does on my iPhone and iPad and it appears like it should, but in Mail it just keeps syncing. It looks like most (I'm not sure if it's all) of my email has come in, but sending and receiving is very slow and it seems to be continuously syncing. I'm basing this on the appearance of the circling graphic just to the rght of the Inbox. This is the one that looks like spinning dashes in a circle, not the one that looks like a pie showing completion status of the sync. However, the Mail Activity box in the lower left doesn't show anything.Â
My company uses Microsoft Exchange 2010 and I'm running the latest and updated version of Lion (in fact it's one of the new Airs that just came out this week), so I'd expect this to work. Calendar and Contacts seem to be sycing just fine. Â
Does anybody have any expertise with this? I've already waited several hours and I've tried it for both mine and my wife's account (both Exchagne 2010) with the same result.Â

I've got a MacBookPro that's a couple of years old, but hasn't had any problems before - and then I updated to Yosemite. Since then it's been sluggish, stuttering and with a spinning rainbow wheel every five or ten seconds. It's got to the point where it's unusable - you click, you wait, then wait, then it reacts. Sloooow. Â
It's a 2.4GHz Intel Core i5 model, purchased in Summer 2012. 4GB of memory - and I've deleted everything off it, all my files and any third party programmes have gone now. On a 500GB hard disk, there's 468GB free now. It's practically got bats flying around in there it's so empty.Â
Apple suggested a PRAM restart, then an erase & install, which I've done a couple of times. No dice. Then I saw that FileVault is running, trying to encrypt everything on the computer. It's stalled at around 20% or so, and hasn't changed for days. You can't switch off FileVault while it's encrypting, so I'm pretty stuck at the moment; I can't leave it running because it renders the computer unusable, and reinstalling won't stop FileVault either. Â
how to switch off FileVault while it's running, and how to disable it in future?

I waited a long time to upgrade to Safari 5.1 because the first time I installed it, it kept my fan on constantly / ate up all my CPU. I deinstalled and got the previous version. Finally, when no longer able to watch BBC content, I upgraded and got 5.1.4. Â
Safari used to work great. Now it decides that it has to force reload all pages about once every 40 minutes. It dumps all my cookies so I have to sign back into everything I had open - the facebook, Netflix, twitter, email, etc. It doesn't even remember what Netflix movie you were watching so you have to rebrowse - just because of the force reload. And if you somehow miss clicking on every open tab at the time to start the reload, then the next time you go to that tab it will start all the reloads again. Sometimes I just force quit Safari altogether and restart, clear my whole cache and dump all my cookies. Then I can get a clean hour out of it.Â
It takes up endless time to suffer through this bug and I see that it has been a bug for well over a year. What, if anything can one do about this? Why hasn't it been fixed?

I've had this problem with every single MacBook I've owned running on Leopard, Snow Leopard and now on my Lion one too!Does anyone know how to stop it? It seems to be worse than ever on my new Lion OS MacBook Air.I have Yahoo!, iCloud, Hotmail and BT Internet email addresses in my mail app. Every two minutes the dock icon starts bouncing and it's requesting the password for one of them. Everytime I tick the box saying "remember this in my keychain" but no sooner have I done that and it pops back up again requesting the password that I have just entered. I am entering the correct passwords and all email addresses are active. It's really winding me up at the moment as I keep having to quit the mail app because I can't stop it from asking for passwords. This MacBook is brand new. I only got it delivered from Apple last week!Â
