Mar 24, 2012Since this morning I have been getting strange adverts on facebook and wikipedia.There is usually some text by the adverts that say "adverts not from this site"I downloaded something yesterday from a video streaming site that I have since uninstalled using a wise uninstaller program, but these adverts remain.I use safari but they come up on firefox too.

However, when I use my work Gmail account to send multiple messages either on my phone or on my computer through Gmail, whenever I go into mac Mail I have 40+ copies of the emails I sent. I tried to look in the setting if there's something that disables this.

Dec 4, 2014I use Google 2-step verification. With my upgrade to Yosemite, all my text messages that previously only went to my iPhone now also appear on my Macbook Pro. In general that's fine, but it's a big security problem.  If anyone gets my computer then they immediately have access to all my 2-step codes because the codes will be sent to my Macbook in addition to my phone. Previously I only had to worry about one device (my phone) and but now there is a big problem with my computer falling into the wrong hands.Â
Is this an attempt by Apple to stop people from using Google 2-step verification?Â

Dec 31, 2009My MBP has this issue every once in a while where I have to hold the power button and force shut down. Randomly the volume keys/brightness etc. stop working and i can't open apps or shut it down normally. Everything still works though (can still function in open applications) Anyone know what the problem is? It fixes when I force reset.

Jun 25, 2014Ever since i logged out and back in again nothing is appearing on my desktop. I can only see my background. Not even the silver bar at the top is visible, it's really worrying me! The only way i've managed to get onto safari to write this is because i pressed the play button on my keyboard which opened up itunes, which is when the silver bar appeared and i just went and clicked on the apple logo in the top far left corner and clicked recent items, and luckily one of them was safari. But if i quite safari the silver bar at the top will disappear and i won't be able to do anything.

Dec 5, 2008I recently installed a VPN.
The performance through the VPN is badly affected by the Airport scanning regularly; often the VPN hangs.
I have deleted the unnecessary wireless networks listed in the Advanced button under Network Preferences. However, the problem persists.
Can you advise how to either stop the scanning or stop it interfering with Internet connection?

MacBook Air :: Flashing Folder Error Keeps On Appearing?
Jul 2, 2012My Macbook Air has been working fine up until recently. Now all of a sudden I get a white screen and a flashing folder on start up. I've looked into this on the support forums and found nothing. The following did nothing for me and I can't get to Disk Utility:
Pressing Option+C
Pressing Option+D
Resetting VPROT.Â
However I thought I had some Joy with Option+R. It gets to the Internet recovery stream but then won't connect to any network. I have no Bootable version of MacOSX and can't create a copy on USB because the only other computer I have is a PC.Specs: Macbook Air (2011), 2GB Ram, 64GB SSD, i5 Processor, Mac OS X Lion.

May 23, 2010I have an older MacBook Pro (1,1 first gen, Intel Core Duo, 2006). It's slowly dying, I think. What I'm wondering about are these lines that are appearing/disappearing on the screen. I think it may be a sign that the video card is going out. The lines are horizontal bands that appear often when I'm watching video. Occasionally they'll appear while scrolling or loading a webpage. They're usually quite thin, although it does appear to be getting worse. Does anyone know what this would be? Is it safe to assume a dead logic board is in my future? I videotaped it occurring here, in case you're interested (17 sec).

May 26, 2010I'm new to MBP 13'' (2010), just 3 weeks now, and it's my first laptop, so I don't know if this is just normal or not. I have noticed there are several marks on screen appears to be from keyboard edges, say where the "E" key supposed to meet the screen. Looks like small spot scratches, but fortunately they came off when I clean them with damped cloth. It came back after I use and close/open the lid, same spots I think. New MBP design looks like the keys should not touch the screen, but it appears to be keep touching while lid is closed? What about yours, can you see marks when the screen is turned off? Or I may need to worry about screen protection? (if I do cleaning often the same spots I guess it may scratch eventually?)

MacBook :: .jar Files Not Launching And Jar Launcher Not Appearing When Search It?
May 7, 2012A couple weeks ago, I decided to download a stand-alone jar file for my personal use. The jar file, dependent on nothing, ran in Jar Laucher by default and worked fine. Earlier this week, however, I decided my Mac was cluttered and so I went through it and cleared out everything I wasn't ever going to use again. I also have an app called "The Unarchiver" from the Mac App store (I've had this for about two months). Since the uncluttering, three bad things have happened. 1) Any .jar files open in The Unarchiver instead of Jar launcher
2) When I search around my Mac for Jar Launcher, nothing appears.
3) The .jar file icons changed to this:
Also, I tried uninstalling The Unarchiver, and it still didn't work. Either Jar Launcher is gone, or it went dormant. What should I do, and if needed, where can I reinstall Jar Launcher? (Mac Late 2009 Model 10.7.3)

Jun 19, 2012I have a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz/250GB HDD/2GB RAM that won't turn on, unless I leave the power button pressed, in which case, as you all know, the computer turns off again. It started about 3 days ago. Set the computer to sleep, shut it closed, took it to another room and opened it. The MBP gave me the blue screen, then black and then... nothing. At first I thought it was the HDD, but now I'm having second thoughts. I now think it's the cpu fan.

This was for the third time i had to face the same issue.
