Recently, my screen has been going out. Sometimes when I start it it will stay on until I touch the keyboard. Is there any way to troubleshoot it before taking in it to see if its not the bulb?
had my macbook for about a year and a half and recently it just stopped working. Literally it was fine one minute and the next the screen was just black. I tried turning it on and off and now it stays at the boot screen for like 30 minutes and then just goes to a blue screen. I can move the cursor around the blue screen and stuff but there are no icons and there is no finder or anything. everytime i turn it off and back on the same thing, bootscreen and then bluescreen.
suddenly, my MBP (2.6ghz, 15") illuminated keyboard has stopped working. out of the blue. same conditions in the room as when it's worked before - so it's not an ambient lighting problem. the functionality is all turned on, and pressing the dim/brighten keys on the keyboard, while producing visual feedback on the screen (like the volume indicator), produces no illumination on the keyboard. im plugged in, fully charged... can't figure it out!!!
to be honest, i never really use the keyboard illumination, but now that its actually not working, its really bothering
I installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
My MBP's (October 2007) screen just stopped working. I don't know what's up. It's not the backlight, because I've turned my backlight off before and you can still see the screen faintly, but I can't see anything. I ran to Target to buy an external monitor - but they were out, so I bought a TV (Sylvania lc195slx) in hopes of that working. Well, it didn't work. I am currently using a newer MBP (September 2009) borrowed for a few minutes from a friend to write this and test the TV.
Her MBP was able to hook up to the TV just fine. So now I'm wondering if there is a video driver error or something. This is really bad timing, as I have to do a presentation on Tuesday for a final and I'm still working on finding the information. Anyway, if you can offer any advice to get the screen and/or tv working, that would be great! And I'm using my DVI to VGA adapter to plug my computer into the tv.
I'm running 10.6.4 on an Intel 2.4Ghz MacBook with 2G RAM.
Time Machine & Spotlight have both stopped working. I back-up to an external HD which is fine, (checked with Disk utility and dragging and dropping stuff onto it).
I have tried to rebuild the Spotlight data by putting my HD in the 'privacy' and then removing it, but this hasn't worked. It just hangs on 'estimating time......'.
Time machine seems to go through the checking process ok but then can't write the data across to the external.I have reinstalled the system but it's just the same.
I own a MacPro1,1 that has a Geforce 7300 GT running on it. That video card comes with one Dual-Link DVI port, and anonther that is Single-Link. I just bought a Dell 30" 3008WFP monitor that has a max resolution of 2560x1900.
When I first connected, it worked great. I was getting the max res; life was good. Then I started getting this random green fuzzy screen that would come and go at whim. I couldn't reproduce it, and worse was I have not figured out a way to get rid of it. Early on, just unplugging and replugging in the cable worked. Then that stopped working. Rebooting stopped working. Once i was able to get the green to go away by powering down the display and powering it back up. Yes, totally random.
Here are some more facts:
1. Setting a lower resolution doesn't rid me of the green fuzz effect.
2. If i connect to the same monitor using the single-link DVI port, everything works great, but only reaches 1920X1600 (as expected).
3. Connecting to different monitor using the Dual-Link DVI port works fine, albeit that the other monitor has a lesser max resolution.
4. I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and I have all my software updates in place.
5. I've attached a screenshot of what this looks like.
My headphone jack was working just fine until this morning when I opened my computer. It's plugged in, but the sound keeps going through the head speakers. I have done the system preference check to make sure it is not muted.
Quicklook has stopped workingon my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8. Pressing the space bar on a file yields nothing. Is there a way to update or reset it so it starts working again?
Info: MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
during SW to my mini-mac wireless key board the keyboard stop responding. now i have left without an ability to work with my wireless keyboard. is there any why to reset the keyboard to default setting so it will come to live again..
Recently my 2 month old (+/-) rev B MBA USB stopped working. When I plug in a thumb drive, DVD drive or anything, the power light on the usb peripheral comes on, but the drive does not mount. I am running SL, and until last week I had no issue.
The i key has stopped working on my 2011 Macbook Pro. i've tried taking the key off and cleaning underneath, pressing it hard, pressing on the side, tried turning off text to speech...
All the other keys are working fine. Tried to book a genius bar appt but there are none available and i can't afford to pay for tech support!
Not sure why, but all of a sudden have no sound effects. When I go to System Preferences all the alert sound effect choices are grayed out. When press the volume buttons, can't adjust settings and there's a strike-out symbol underneath the bars.
My USB Drive on my Macbook Pro stopped working. I have done power downs, resets, and still not working. thinking a driver is not there. Running OS X 10.7.3 . Looking for some options before taking it to hardware repair for service.
Info: MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3), usb drives stopped working
I plugged in the charger after not having my computer charging since the morning. My charger did not work and pluged it in to other sockets around the house. I then tried my sisters charger, which was working for her computer. The odd thing is that after I tested it on my computer it no longer worked for my sisters computer. This is so confusing and I don't want to pay $160 on two chargers. It is the L style charger and we have had both for about less than 6 months.
i bought a macbook pro, OS X lion, version 10.7.4 a month ago. one of my USB port suddenly stopped working. i am a new mac user, so i have very less idea about mac.
MacBook Pro stopped working all of a sudden. There was battery left, but it shut down completely and won't even charge..out of nothing. MBP is just a few years old.
I have been using the line-in on my MBP to record with my guitar/bass for about 3 years. I use Logic Express 9 to record. All of a sudden, the line-in no longer works and I get this awful clicking sound the entire time.
I noticed a couple of days ago that my sleep indicator has stopped working. When I shut the lid the computer goes to sleep.... when i open it back up after 30 seconds or a minute msn tries to reconnect and i heard the cd make that little noise that it does... anyone know of anything i could try to make it work again?
This is my first mac, it's a Macbook Aluminum Unibody 13" 2.0GHz... this is the only problem I've encountered.... I know it's pretty minor, but I like things to work as they're supposed to, especially when they're this new.
I went on vacation for 1 month and when I came back my mac wouldn't charge! In the corner it would say "Not Charging" and and the battery lights do not turn on when I press the button on the battery itself. The mac only works when I have it plugged in. Do I need a new battery? It's a 13" white macbook, about 2.5 years old. It has the Intel processor but not the Core2Duo.
I'm sitting here typing a paper and my illuminated keyboard goes out when its set to be on all the time. I try adjusting it manually and it won't let me. My controls also stopped working on adjusting brightness. When I click increase volume, it brings up my dashboard. I did not spill anything on my laptop. It just started happening out of nowhere. I also tried restating and its still not working.
When I plug a set of headphones on my macbook pro, it no longer recognizes that headphones are plugged in. I have tried three different sets of headphones just to make sure that they are not the problem. In Sound/Output section of system preferences, it still says internal speakers even when the headphones are plugged in all the way.
Is there a fix for this I can do myself or do I need to take it in to an Apple Store?
