I have been using the line-in on my MBP to record with my guitar/bass for about 3 years. I use Logic Express 9 to record. All of a sudden, the line-in no longer works and I get this awful clicking sound the entire time.
View 5 RepliesTwo or three days ago, the topmost line of my keyboard (contains esc, brightness, expose, dashboard, play/pause, mute, eject, etc.) suddenly stopped working. Strangely, some of the keys have switched functions: expose opens a search bar, keyboard dimmer refreshes the webpage, keyboard brighter selects the web address, play/pause is now shows Spaces, skip forward is expose, and sound increase is dashboard. I reset my keyboard, but nothing changed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI started to have a perplexing problem that I narrowed down to the audio in-put port on my Mac Pro (MacPro3 ,1). It was working fine then the sound level increased and the quality became distorted (like a "fuzz base" but affecting all sounds)I was in the process of digitizing records, and believed the record played broke. So I got a new record player (audio-technica AT-LP120-USB). The same thing occurred with the audio in-put port, so I switched to the USB port and the audio was fine. I also checked with music already on my HD and it played fine. Consequently it has to be the in-put line port and/or a software issue.

i'm having some issues recording in garage band which should hopefully be easy to clear up. i record an instrumental track into garage band through the line-in jack in the back. the track shows up in garage band just fine and plays, but i'm running into trouble recording while that track is playing. i plug my headphones in so i can try to hear the track while i am recording vocals, but i am unable to hear the track. i checked the inputs/outputs in system preferences and output is set to headphones, microphone is set to line in. so i'm not too sure what it could be.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed 10.5.7 yesterday. Immediately after the installation was complete, my Apple bluetooth keyboard stopped working. Went into Bluetooth system settings, and it said that there was no bluetooth hardware found... (it's built into the machine!!)...
Also, every time I start iTunes, it gives some weird error about Adobe Flash player. I'm not at home now so I don't have the exact wording of the error with me, sorry...
I've been trying to record my guitar using a regular 1/4" instrument cable and a 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor into the line-in of my Blackbook. I go to System Preferences so the app uses the line-in and not the build-in mic. Under "details", it is set to record in stereo. It records fine and sounds good, but when I put on my headphones, the tracks I recorded only come out of one ear. The software tracks are fine (as are the tracks I've recorded via the built-in mic and a USB mic). Well, this really puts a hamper on the song. Is it just because regular Macbooks don't come with a very good sound card?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the aluminum unibody macbook from I think 2008 with the 2.0 ghz and 2 gigs of ram. I was on iChat with a friend the other day and wanted to record our conversation. So I fired up QuickTime X and started the screen recording function. When we were finished (a good 15 mins later) I pressed stop on the screen recording and everything seemed fine. I went back today to make notes and it only recorded 6 minutes of our conversation!! My computer was really working hard on the fan keeping it cool from all the cpu usage but I thought everything was fine. Could it have overheated and caused QuickTime to stop recording? Or another explanation?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot sure that this problem is with my Mac or not, but suddenly my printer stopped printing and a window opens that says that the printer is "off line". I unplugged the printer and rebooted the computer and re-plugged the printer in thinking that might cure the problem, but same message came up "printer off line". The printer shows up in the finder and I am at a loss as to a possible cure without having to buy a new printer.

When I plug the microphone, the built-in mic still works,]. I tried everything, it just doesn't work at all, i plugged in the microphone and changed the system preferences manually and did everything with all the applications, but still, nothing is working. I have had this MacBook for 2 weeks now. I wish I waited couple of days for the pro.

Recently my 2 month old (+/-) rev B MBA USB stopped working. When I plug in a thumb drive, DVD drive or anything, the power light on the usb peripheral comes on, but the drive does not mount. I am running SL, and until last week I had no issue.

I plugged in the charger after not having my computer charging since the morning. My charger did not work and pluged it in to other sockets around the house. I then tried my sisters charger, which was working for her computer. The odd thing is that after I tested it on my computer it no longer worked for my sisters computer. This is so confusing and I don't want to pay $160 on two chargers.It is the L style charger and we have had both for about less than 6 months.

I noticed a couple of days ago that my sleep indicator has stopped working. When I shut the lid the computer goes to sleep.... when i open it back up after 30 seconds or a minute msn tries to reconnect and i heard the cd make that little noise that it does... anyone know of anything i could try to make it work again?
This is my first mac, it's a Macbook Aluminum Unibody 13" 2.0GHz... this is the only problem I've encountered.... I know it's pretty minor, but I like things to work as they're supposed to, especially when they're this new.
I went on vacation for 1 month and when I came back my mac wouldn't charge! In the corner it would say "Not Charging" and and the battery lights do not turn on when I press the button on the battery itself. The mac only works when I have it plugged in. Do I need a new battery? It's a 13" white macbook, about 2.5 years old. It has the Intel processor but not the Core2Duo.

My controls also stopped working on adjusting brightness. When I click increase volume, it brings up my dashboard. I did not spill anything on my laptop. It just started happening out of nowhere. I also tried restating and its still not working.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug a set of headphones on my macbook pro, it no longer recognizes that headphones are plugged in. I have tried three different sets of headphones just to make sure that they are not the problem. In Sound/Output section of system preferences, it still says internal speakers even when the headphones are plugged in all the way.
Is there a fix for this I can do myself or do I need to take it in to an Apple Store?
I have a MBP with an apple wireless keyboard. The keyboard has brightness keys on it but they have recently stopped working. It is strange as the keys on the MBP still work but the ones on the bluetooth keyboard, placed exactly in the same spot (the wireless KB and the Macbook pro's KB are exactly the same), don't.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought my unibody MBP back in late July from the Apple store here. It's been a great machine. Except all of a sudden my headphone jack won't play sound. I realized this last night as I tried to listen to music on it while surfing the web. I've plugged headphones into it maybe 10 times total. And they worked every time before. If I unplug the headphones and plug them back in repeatedly I can get them to work after about the 4th or 5th time. When they do work, the sound is great. Anyway, I made an appointment with the genius bar this afternoon to show them and see if there is anything they can do. Obviously, after paying $2,500 for a laptop I would expect it to run completely flawlessly. But at the same time, I'm hoping they don't offer to replace it with a refurbished one. In fact, I would prefer to not even get a new one. I love this one, I guess I just hope it's fixable.
