May 10, 2012I'm trying to update my Macbook Pro to the new 10.7.4 I have downloaded the update twice (no interruptions during download) and when i click to restart the computer to install the update, the update dosent install. I keep getting an error message saying the download is corrupted, when the update tries to unpack to install. Â

Aug 20, 2009I have an early 2008 Macbook Pro 17", and after installing 10.5.8 I am experiencing the widely reported airport issue everyones banging on about! So much so that I've been relegated to trailing an ethernet cable all the way into my front room because it keeps cutting out so much.
The only difference is I am on mains power (with the lid closed) because I use a large external monitor.Anyway long story short, I noticed the Airport update on Apples website after searching:[URL]_MacBook_Prohowever when I try to install it I get this:I have the Macbook Pro 17" Early 2008 model the update lists and I have the problem but it won't install!

In every case, the update was proposed again when Software Update checked. I have OS Lion latest version installed. What to do about this bug?

MacBook Pro :: OS X Update Downloads But Won't Install
May 21, 2012When I try to update Mac OS X combined update 10.7.4 on MBP, it downloads but won't install. I get a message that says it couldn't expand and may be corrupted. This has happened multiple times now.I thought it might be due to lack of space on the hard drive so i cleared some space (there's now at least 49GB space) and it still won't work. I also have updates for Motion Supplemental Control and Final Cut Pro X supplemental that do the same. Tried doing it one by one, and tried downloading myself but the problem seems to be the expanding installing not the downloading.Â

Jun 20, 2014I have downloaded OS X Update 10.9.3 on my MacBook Pro at least six times in the last 30 days. However, it never installs. It just downloads everything, asks for a restart to install, but then never installs. The Update section of the App Store keeps telling me that I need to download this update, but I just end up in a continuous loop. How can I solve this?

Jul 2, 2012I have a MacBook Pro running 10.6.8 and the latest updates do not want to install. It downloads fine looks like it installs, but end up with a "An Undexpected Error Occurred." I've had this machine for 3 years now and have never encountered an update problem before.
I've run Disk Repair and results were there were no problems.

The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded & checked again the next time that software update runs."

I'm wondering if I need to wait until os x Lion is installed before I install this update? Perhaps it will automatically via "software update" after Lion is installed. It looks like the fix is pertains to osx Lion functionality, so maybe it would've already been downloaded via software update if Lion was installed as opposed to snow leopard which is what I have currently.The article says " If you are unsure whether your computer needs a particular update, simply download and open the update installer. The installer will alert you if the firmware update is already installed or not needed." Which update installer are they referring to and where can I get it? I thought it'd be better to update the firmware prior to installing the os, but maybe that's just an old habit I picked upnwhile using windows.

I just bought this late 08 MBP and I have a bootcamp partition running Windows XP Pro 32Bit on a NTFS partition. Why is this so complicated? Macs have always been easy on me until this. They tell me to do a full reinstall but I don't understand how this will fix the problem since I don't know where this comes from. It says to go check my "Partition Map Scheme" and I have a "Master Boot Record". It says I need a "GUID_partition_scheme". How come I don't have a "GUID_partition_scheme"?

(Thats atleast the name for it Directly transformed from norwegian to english) and when i try to run the update it ask me to reboot. I press reboot and it closes all of my programs and the update starts installing , but the progress bar stops when its like 20% finished, I've been waiting for 12 hours and still no progress.

Mar 14, 2012I can not update or install new apps. Some work though, some do not. For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.Â
I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.Â

Dec 23, 2008I'm installing 10.5.6 on the family MacBook (white) and it was running 10.5.4 previously, yet hanged when I was updating everything (there was a few updates) so I had to force power off. The Mac says it is running 10.5.6, but I wanted to apply the combo update to be safe. However, it fails when installing (it doesn't get to the stage where it reboots, still in OS X at this stage). It says "The installer could not install some files in "/". Also, repairing Disk Permissions failed too. Prior to the update, everything was working fine - I'm usually full of ideas, but when it is your Mac that is playing up I'm very keen to hear what others have to say.

Jan 5, 2010I've got a Macbook with with Leopard v10.5-something installed. When I installed the latest update and was at about 25% done with the "writing"-part it suddenly failed. I got a message prompting to restart (I think it said that it was something wrong with the source from which it was writing), when I restart the computer I get another message promting me to restart. My backup is a few months old, so I wonder if there is some way around my problem?

I have already updated lion to 10.7.3 and I seem to think that maybe the boot rom update was intended for 10.7.2 and it won't let me install on 10.7.3 because it thinks it isn't compatible?
