Lion recovery update from the software update won't install. Keeps spooling (I think that is the word for the updaet never seems to finish updating). I am trying to install Microsoft's latest update for Office 11 and I can't close Microsoft database daemon or Sync-services app to install MS Office 2011 14.2.1 update. No idea how to close it. I read that in some cases an older version of Entourage caused some problems so I deleted Entourage - can't use it anyway - but that didn't work. Have rebooted several times over several days and same problem remains.Â

Installed an update for WePrint Server APP which popped up onscreen. Downloaded update, installer program loaded, selected drive, and install was successful. Closed the install program window (Safari open in background along with other programs running in dock, but not on screen), but the Installer menu bar remained on the top of the screen. Lost the OSX Lion Status / menu bar, the Apple icon, time, user, etc. Was able to use Safari, but not without hesitation.
The Safari menu bar at the top of the screen never appeared while in Safari, the Install Program menu did not disappear, even thought there was no evidence that the program was still running. No icon in dock, no hidden screen page or window. Closed all the running programs in the docks, and checked Force Quit, (ctrl+alt+esc) and no installer program remained. Unable to shut off or restart the computer without using the on / off button on the back of the intel mac monitor. Once rebooted all seems well.

(Thats atleast the name for it Directly transformed from norwegian to english) and when i try to run the update it ask me to reboot. I press reboot and it closes all of my programs and the update starts installing , but the progress bar stops when its like 20% finished, I've been waiting for 12 hours and still no progress.

For example I can update GarageBand and UberStrikeHD(2 random apps that I have an update available for) and I can not update LevelHelper and Trillian(also just 2 random apps I have an update available for).As for new apps ... Well, all that I tried they didn't download(ReadLater, CodeCollectorPro and RamOptimizer Lite, Apple Configurator are 4 of the apps I tried downloading). I get to enter my password, the app "goes" into the Launchpad, but the bar that should show the progress of the download gets filled instantly and the Appstore shows "Installed" instantly, while the Launchpad icon also shows the bar full instantly, but the app is obviously still greyed out since it didn't really download anything. Then after a few seconds I get an error:"The application could not be downloaded. The requested URL was not found on this server". Cancel or Retry, retrying doesn't work either.Â
I am using a broadband internet connection, but I tried it with several USB devices and I got the same result (also tried sharing the broadband connection from a macmini and connect to it through internet sharing, still didnt work)... And I do not have 10.7.3 installed, since it is a 2GB update and my broadband data plan is capped at 4GB, but I doubt it will fix anything, since in the past I got this error before, but I have no idea how it got fixed. I also tried every Apple provided support article.Â

I'm installing 10.5.6 on the family MacBook (white) and it was running 10.5.4 previously, yet hanged when I was updating everything (there was a few updates) so I had to force power off. The Mac says it is running 10.5.6, but I wanted to apply the combo update to be safe. However, it fails when installing (it doesn't get to the stage where it reboots, still in OS X at this stage). It says "The installer could not install some files in "/". Also, repairing Disk Permissions failed too. Prior to the update, everything was working fine - I'm usually full of ideas, but when it is your Mac that is playing up I'm very keen to hear what others have to say.

I want to update it to latest 10.5.8, in order to do that I need to log in an account to perform the update but for that the buyer will not experience the leopard first start up music. How can I update it without creating an account so the buyer can feel like getting a first hand on it?
I've got a Macbook with with Leopard v10.5-something installed. When I installed the latest update and was at about 25% done with the "writing"-part it suddenly failed. I got a message prompting to restart (I think it said that it was something wrong with the source from which it was writing), when I restart the computer I get another message promting me to restart. My backup is a few months old, so I wonder if there is some way around my problem?

I'm trying to install boot camp and I can't install until I update the BOOT ROM. I've downloaded the package macmini2011efiupdate.pkg and this corresponds with my 5.2 model identifier. I have already updated lion to 10.7.3 and I seem to think that maybe the boot rom update was intended for 10.7.2 and it won't let me install on 10.7.3 because it thinks it isn't compatible? The message I get when I try to install the Boot ROM update is this software is not supported by your system.

When I try to update Mac OS X combined update 10.7.4 on MBP, it downloads but won't install. I get a message that says it couldn't expand and may be corrupted. This has happened multiple times now.I thought it might be due to lack of space on the hard drive so i cleared some space (there's now at least 49GB space) and it still won't work. I also have updates for Motion Supplemental Control and Final Cut Pro X supplemental that do the same. Some days ago I went to upgrade my mac mini 2010.I downloaded the combo-updater, as this is my preference. I sometimes have trouble with the normal updater from software update.When running the install I get this message of error above. I tried doing it different ways, downloaded the updater numerous times to try again.I even REINSTALLED OS Lion from the original installer and started over with the same result, even allowing the installer to dl the update, as it asked to do so.So I completely started over with a clean re-partitioned drive and had the same result. I tethered it to my macbook pro 2010 in FIREWIRE TARGET mode and tried installing it that way, same result. I have also just let the Software Updater utility run and allow it to install the downladed update. That activity returns a "cannot expan" error message...End result: It will not for any reason install this update. This is a problem I have never encountered (in 25 years of using macs).
