MacBook Pro :: After Installing New Snow Leopard OS Did Not Have Bluetooth Option Under My System Preferences

Aug 29, 2009

I recently discovered after installing the new Snow Leopard OS that I did not have a bluetooth option under my system preferences. I own a mid 2008 Macbook Pro (pre-unibody, more info below) and I know that I've used it before. I recently took my computer in to be repaired by Apple because the keyboard and trackpad were inconsistently responsive, and to fix it they simply replaced the entire top panel (with the keyboard and trackpad). I have also checked under the system profiler and it says that there is no information available for my bluetooth...what exactly does this mean? Did they forget to reinstall it? or what?

MacBook :: 'Built In Speakers' Are No Longer An Option For Audio Output

Mar 15, 2012

The speakers on my Macbook have suddenly stopped working. If you plug headphones in, fine. In the system preferences, 'built in speakers' are no longer an option for audio output. Just 'digital out'. When I try and change the volume of the speakers, the symbol is greyed out, and there's a little "you can't do this" symbol.

I have a Macbook black 2.0ghz with 10.5.8

OS X :: Bluetooth: Not Available / Won't Have The Option To Turn It Off Or On?

Dec 10, 2007

I've been having lots of problems with Bluetooth lately. It would randomly go out and the icon at the menu bar would say "Bluetooth: Not Available" and I won't have the option to turn it off or on. I use it for my Mighty Mouse and Apple Keyboard and they both have good batteries.

OS X :: Option-tab No Longer Working?

May 21, 2010

This morning, On my Macbook Pro, I was able to use the option-tab shortcut to cycle through windows within an application. This afternoon, when I do the same keystroke, I just get a tab character. Or I cycle through the links on a website.
The option key is working, as I can use other keyboard shortcuts. I even plugged in an external keyboard and it is responding to the option key. But the shortcut option-tab appears to no longer be working.

I have the fear that I accidentally pressed some weird key combination without realizing it that remaps the key for accessibility purposes. I've looked around the system preferences and I can't see anything that would reassign the combo.
Does anyone have an idea of what happened?

MacBook Pro :: Disable The Built-in Bluetooth And Enable A Bluetooth Dongle Instead?

Mar 4, 2008

I have a bluetooth mouse and keyboard that I want to share between a PC and MBP via a DVI/USB KVM switch. I think I can do this by plugging a USB Bluetooth dongle into the KVM's USB input.

If I use the MBP's built-in bluetooth then when I switch from one computer to the other via the KVM, the keyboard and mouse will stay paired with the MBP; but if I disable the built-in hardware then the dongle can provide the bluetooth capability and be switched between the computers.

Software :: Using Bluetooth Headset/non-apple Bluetooth?

Sep 1, 2005

Hey guys..>I'm trying to set up my jabra bt200 bluetooth headset to work with my mac (osx 10.4.2, 15" powerbook 1.67ghz)...and I can get it to pair, but it won't stay connected for more than a split second. this is a problem i've seen a few people have, looking around on various forums and stuff, and i was trying various solutions when i decided to try doing a firmware upgrade on the internal bluetooth module. I downloaded the firmware updater (1.2), tried to run it and it came up with the following error:

"This computer does not have an Apple Bluetooth module installed. It cannot be updated by this application."

Why would my Powerbook not have an Apple Bluetooth module?!?!?! It's got bluetooth installed, it's internal, but looking at the system profile, it says it's the manufacturer is Cambridge Silicon Radio. So is this normal or what? Is the firmware upgrade even going to help me out in the end? Just to clarify...the powerbook came with bt installed factory...it's not something added by me!

Has anyone else had this problem? I kind of need the BT to use my current setup. And I'm out of AppleCare time. (It's an OLD laptop.)

MacBook Pro :: Remapping Just One Option / Alt Key

Apr 19, 2010

My old MBP keyboard had, from left-to-right, spacebar - command - enter. My new MPB has space - command - option. I've got really used to having an enter key where that option key is now. Is anyone else in the same boat, and have you found a way to remap that right-option key to "enter?" I thought DoubleCommand might do the trick, but it looks like you're limited to a set of predefined keyswaps, none of which are what I'm looking for.

I've just got a 13" 1.86GHz with 4GB RAM. I'm wondering which is the best option to go with. I've been using VMWare up until now as my Hackintosh does not support intel-VTx or whatever. I think parallels looks much better, but don't know how it is with performance. So does anyone have experience using both on their machine and can recommend either one? I'm looking for best performance mostly as I run in single window and not Unity.

OS X :: Intel MacBook Option / Alt Key Does Not Work

Mar 6, 2009

I have an Intel based Macbook running Bootcamp (Windows XP Home SP2). Option/Alt key periodically does not work under both Mac OS and Windows. It will work for a while, then stop working for a few hours. I have all of the latest updates installed on the computer. When the Option key is not working, I cannot select to boot to windows, or reset PRAM to try and fix it. I know I can boot into the Mac OS and have it reboot into Windows. This has been happening for a week now. I have not spilled anything on the keyboard, and it seemed to just startup after a week of non-use.

MacBook Pro :: Won't Boot Without Holding Down The Option Key

Dec 13, 2009

Alright I was going to load Windows on a partition thru Boot Camp. However I decided not to and then used the Boot Camp assistant to remove the Windows partition.

Ever since I got rid of the Windows partition, I've have to hold the OPTION key just to get my MBP to boot even though there is NO other operating system installed on the old partition. If I don't hold the OPTION key it won't boot, it just goes to a black screen.

I'm new to mac's and don't know what to do.
