MacBook Air :: Option To Get 2.13 Core2Duo Processor?

Oct 27, 2010

I am checking Apple's website and it shows the best processor you can get is the 1.86 Core2Duo. I thought you could order the 2.13 Core2Duo for the 13 inch.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why No Save As Option In The Word Processor

Jul 2, 2012

So any discussion of why Apple would remove the most common function of all word processors in the world, is not permitted. Let's be NICE then.... this is a common fuction that has been removed and it is costing my company lost time in productivity.  We can't find files, we can't sort through "duplicates" and "versions".  Common practicies our employees have used on all computers are now not compatible with three of our office systems.  We upgrade to Lion 10.7.4 to get icloud for phones and ipads, and lose productivity in our office due to lost functions in a word processor. Apparently Apple doesn't want us to think for ourselves. Is there as way to restore this common function to Pages???

IMac :: 17" Core2Duo - 3GB Or 4GB RAM?

Dec 7, 2010

My iMac is really sluggish lately so I plan to upgrade the HD to 2TB and do a fresh install. I also wanted to upgrade the RAM but I wasn't sure if I should install the 3GB or 4GB. I know it takes maximum 3.3GB or something like that, but I heard that installing 2x2GB will take advantage of dual channelling and give it a bit more of a speed boast. I plan to buy OWC branded RAM, and the difference between the two configurations is only like $20, but hey, money is money.

IMac :: 17" 1.83Ghz Core2Duo (MA710LL) - Runs Beautifully?

Jul 31, 2009

I purchased a Refurb 17" iMac 1.83Ghz Core 2. It would have been the Education Model for what I gather. No Bluetooth, Combo Drive, no 802.11n wifi, and Intel GMA950 graphics. Apple Specs state max RAM = 2Gb (2x1Gb). Has anyone been successful with trying 4Gb (2x2Gb)? I ask because we also have a Black MacBook (MA701LL/A) and Apple Specs state max RAM is also 2Gb, and we have had 4Gb in it, and runs beautifully!

MacBook Pro :: Slower Processor - More Ram?

Dec 12, 2010

I'm in the market for a new MBP and, looking through the models, it's between the: 13" 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with 8gb of RAM 13" 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4gb of RAM I'll be using it for: Adobe apps (Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign; often 2 of these at a time), videos (esp. streamed online), word processing, and general web browsing. I often have at least 1 of the mentioned Adobe applications, as well as a streaming video and 5-10 browser tabs open at once. So, which is better for my purposes, the 4gb more RAM but slower processor, or the faster processor with 4gb less RAM?

I have been hehe but due to use it is pointless to me but I want the best as I am only out of pocket $200-$400 for this order. I want to know if it makes more sense to bump from 2.8Ghz to 3.06Ghz and get a 320GB 7200rmp HDD or stay down at the 2.8Ghz and get the 128GB SSD. I only use 40GB of space now so that is not an issue.

MacBook Pro :: Looking For Current Graphics/processor?

Apr 13, 2010

If the 13" isn't updated I may get the current version...but was after some advice about the graphics card/processor (I realise I'm probably using the wrong term).

I'd read that users have to log off to switch the graphics option when using the mbp for heavier work.

Can anyone provide an idiot's guide on what this actually means? How often it has to be done, for what tasks (video editing etc) and how long the switch physically takes?

MacBook Pro :: I7 Processor Will Not Power Up After Battery Ran Out

May 21, 2012

The 2011 macbook pro with i7 processor will not power up or charge at all. The problem started after my battery ran out and the computer shut down. Since then, when I plug in the charger only the green light turns on. In addition the light on the base (in front of the keyboard) flashes. Nothing happens when I hit the power button. The charger still works on other laptops. To emphasize, the screen will not even light up. It sounds as if the computer is starting (for less than a second) before stopping, only to start again but that is purely speculative.

MacBook Air :: Processor Speeds Specifically Using Finale And GPO?

Jan 10, 2011

I am looking to buy my first mac in the coming months. I have found that the Air is quite appealing, with perhaps one flaw. The most extreme program I will be running will be Finale 2011. It comes with a sampling of Garritan Personal Orchestra. GPO's site lists the minimum requirement for the processor to be 1.8 GHz. Does this mean that the app will always need the full 1.8 in order to run well? I assume that it wouldn't. If anyone has any personal experience with this app, it would be great to know how it typically runs. The 13 inch Air comes with 1.86 Ghz. So, if I have email, internet, and basic things like that running in the background, will that Macbook Air run successfully?

MacBook Air :: Processor Power, Features To Upgrade MBA?

Oct 15, 2008

I am perfectly happy with my MBA, but I must admit that I like to always have the "latest and greatest". The new MacBooks look great, although I haven't seen one "live" or had the opportunity to get hands on with one yet. If I buy a new MacBook, I give up the form factor, but gain the processor power, features, etc. Also, it will really feel like a new computer because of the different appearance. Since I like the MBA form factor, I was thinking of just upgrading to that. The problem is that it won't even feel like I got a new laptop, because visually it would be identical to the one I have now. In fact, the reduced battery life may not offset the benefit of larger HD and improved graphics. Dying for a new laptop though... what are you other MBA owners thinking?

MacBook :: Start Becoming Unstable With Amount Of Ram And Processor?

Jul 29, 2009

Okay, I think this is the right thread to discuss this in, if it's not I apologize. So I got a 13" unibody MacBook back in February. I've got a 2 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, and 2 gb 1067 MHz DDR3. I'm starting to run out of hard drive space, plus I want to dual-boot Windows 7 when it comes out, unfortunately we still live in a PC dominated world.

My questions are, if I replace it myself this will void my warranty won't it? I didn't buy any sort of AppleCare with my MacBook so I just have whatever the standard warranty is.

Second, is there a limit to the size of hard drive I can put in there? Does it have to be made by a certain manufacturer? And at any size does it start becoming unstable with my amount of ram and processor?
