MacBook Air :: No 4GB Option?
Oct 14, 2008What's the deal with the lack of a 4GB option? I would think this would be a no brainer for a Pro ultra portable like the air... I'm really surprised they still don't offer it.

Some kind of glitch, or need I worry about it at all?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy old MBP keyboard had, from left-to-right, spacebar - command - enter. My new MPB has space - command - option. I've got really used to having an enter key where that option key is now. Is anyone else in the same boat, and have you found a way to remap that right-option key to "enter?" I thought DoubleCommand might do the trick, but it looks like you're limited to a set of predefined keyswaps, none of which are what I'm looking for.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am checking Apple's website and it shows the best processor you can get is the 1.86 Core2Duo. I thought you could order the 2.13 Core2Duo for the 13 inch.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just got a 13" 1.86GHz with 4GB RAM. I'm wondering which is the best option to go with. I've been using VMWare up until now as my Hackintosh does not support intel-VTx or whatever. I think parallels looks much better, but don't know how it is with performance. So does anyone have experience using both on their machine and can recommend either one? I'm looking for best performance mostly as I run in single window and not Unity.
View 24 Replies View RelatedI have an Intel based Macbook running Bootcamp (Windows XP Home SP2). Option/Alt key periodically does not work under both Mac OS and Windows. It will work for a while, then stop working for a few hours. I have all of the latest updates installed on the computer. When the Option key is not working, I cannot select to boot to windows, or reset PRAM to try and fix it. I know I can boot into the Mac OS and have it reboot into Windows. This has been happening for a week now. I have not spilled anything on the keyboard, and it seemed to just startup after a week of non-use.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAlright I was going to load Windows on a partition thru Boot Camp. However I decided not to and then used the Boot Camp assistant to remove the Windows partition.
Ever since I got rid of the Windows partition, I've have to hold the OPTION key just to get my MBP to boot even though there is NO other operating system installed on the old partition. If I don't hold the OPTION key it won't boot, it just goes to a black screen.
I'm new to mac's and don't know what to do.
anyone use this screen for movies or gaming yet? how does it look? how does it compare against the glossy for those who've owned both? i want the matte because i know that for university it'll be better especially for late nights doing work on it it'll be easier on the eyes and i can use it for longer (apparently thats what i hear are benefits of teh AG), BUT i also want to be gaming and watching movies on it and have a feeling ill be losing alot of quality for these features with the matte display
View 24 Replies View Relatedi just bought an early 2010 Macbook running OsX 10.6.8, all updates have been done. I cant seem to start file sharing, in the preferences window>sharing the window stays blanc. Also i noticed that the icon of sharing looks the same as the general preferences icon, normally this is a folder with a yellow mark on it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes the rMBP 13" Mid2014 HDMI connection allow 3840x2160 resolution?
Support article: HT6008 says it should for this model. You can use 4K displays and Ultra HD TVs at the following resolutions and refresh rates via the built-in HDMI port.3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz refresh rate4096 x 2160 at 24 Hz refresh rate (mirroring is not supported at this resolution)
I have it directly connected to my HDTV via HDMI cable and selected 24hz as I know it does not support 60hz.Only offers 1080p.I tried a miniDP to HDMI adapter and that did not work and it used to. I think this adapter may not support 4k or be an active adapter.Just ordered an active adapter that should work, but I am believe it should work through HDMI port on this unit based on HT6008 article.Â

I have a 2010 13" Macbook Pro(intel core 2 duo) I am recently loading and backing up a lot of RAW images to my mac and it is taking up a lot of space. I need an external hard drive but don't want to use FW800 or USB 2.0 because of how slow they are...
... is there any faster way?
I had this issue a while ago but it never came to this. I have bootcamp and want to change OS, so I restart while holding option key and here are 2 outcomes
1. The screen stays grey and mac is just standing like this, I waited for 5 minutes but no options came out.
2. If I hold option immediately while Mac is restarting screen stays black and sleep button is lid up all the time, nothing happens.
I'm a new Mac user, and new to this forum, Just wanted to ask a quick question about connecting my new macbook to my TV.
I connected it up no probs and have sound aswell - but can I shut my Laptop lid, and have access to the computer? I have movies in iTunes that I want to watch, whilst they are displayed perfectly on my TV, my laptop is kinda in the way and distracting whilst watching the TV.
Is there an option in Settings where I can close the laptop up, but still have it running, rather than going to sleep?
I own a bluetooth mighty mouse and keyboard so I will still be able to control the macbook....I just want to shut the lid whilst watching films, etc.
The 13" MBP should have the option to upgrade to a dedicated video card. I hope there do in the future!

When typing, all that is coming out are the symbols that appear when pressing Option, as opposed to the letter pressed. It acts as if the option key is pressed down, but neither option key seems to be stuck.

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out what the approximate costs would be to upgrade the hard drive in my mid-2009 macbook pro. I have a 160 GB hard drive and it is nearly full, but I am a bit of a photo enthusiast and now must labouriously find things to delete before adding new photos. Â
I know that an external hard drive is an option, although I'm not sure how it would work for me since almost all of my memory is eaten by photos and music, and I very much like having all of this media on the machine together in my iphoto and itunes libraries. I have no sense of what this would cost. Needless to say, I would bring my machine into apple to upgrade given that I'm not knowledgeable enough to even consider opening it myself. Â
I am willing to consider a new macbook, but this seems excessive given that I am generally happy with the machine and it has only slowed slightly since purcahse, and mostly in the recent months as it has teetered dangerously close to completely full. Â

My macbook won't show the screen where you hold down the option key and it won't show the apple logo or the spinning gear just a blank white screen when I turn it on. I replaced the old hard drive with a brand new 500 gb 2.5 inch data hard drive.I also purchased a brand new copy of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.when I put the disc in and power it on holding the option key nothing happens just a white screen with no apple logo or spinning gear.

In energy prefs on my MBP there's something about graphics at the top where you can select better performance or better battery life. But surely, when on mains power, surely it doesn't use battery?
View 6 Replies View RelatedAny chance of this happening? An option to purchase a new battery with 7 hours of life?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been getting poor battery life on my MBP for about a month now. I get like 90 minutes to 2 hours max with brightness down and bluetooth off. I tried calibrating to no avail, and finally I'd had enough and called Apple.
I still have 8 months left on my original warranty. The guy on the phone told me that unless I bought Apple Care for the extended phone support, he could not help me. So I said fine, should I just go into the Apple Store? He said no, they would refer me back to him and he still couldn't help me. So I asked him if my one year warranty included battery problems like I'd outlined, and he said yes, but that I'd need phone support. WTF?
Okay, that makes zero sense and I'm annoyed now with his endless loop of nothing. Basically I can't get a part of my purchase that's covered under warranty taken care of because I haven't bought Apple Care yet? That's ridiculous. Has anyone else heard of this? Of course, I always buy Apple Care for my products, but when I purchase it varies within the first year based on when I have the money.I made a Genius Bar appointment, but I was really hoping to not have to go there today. Just wondering if anyone has some insight on this.
